Freedom is the absence of fear. And riding fearlessly requires a bike that can handle your kid’s imagination. It’s why we designed Riprock to be a mountain bike inclusive of all the features needed for superior ripping, like modern geometry, Ground Control tires, hydraulic disc brakes, and internally routed cables. Finally, we threw in a wider-range drivetrain, making Riprock truly the perfect bike to inspire riders to climb higher and tackle the downhills freely.

Kids can’t ride confidently if they’re not riding comfortably. With Riprock, fit comes first. This meant using data to reimagine everything from how they grip to how they sit to create a bike specifically and proportionally for kids. We did all this because comfort creates confidence. And more confidence always leads to more riding fearlessly.

  • Kids’ specific updates and features create a ride that inspires confidence. A 130mm Bridge saddle, as well as a narrower Q factor and shorter cranks, offer improved alignment between the hip, knee, and ankle to decrease the risk of injury and increase pedal power. Narrow grips and updated frame geometry offer improved bike handling, inspiring riders to ride more.

  • A lightweight package, complete with an updated frame and wide-range drivetrain, creates the perfect bike to allow riders to easily tackle climbs.

  • Trail riding starts here. Inspired by Specialized’s heritage in making mountain bikes, the Riprock offers modern MTB features such as a slack head tube angle, internally routed cables, hydraulic disc brakes, and Ground Control tires.

Great Bike

The Rockhopper has been a game-changer for my 7-year-old. The bike fits him like a glove, and it's transformed how confidently he navigates the terrain. The gears are intuitive for him, and the bike's weight strikes the perfect balance for tackling hills and keeping up with his energy. However, potential buyers should note that the BLAZE model's color might not match expectations—it's more like an orange sherbet than a bold orange. So, while photos might not accurately convey its hue, rest assured, the ride itself exceeds expectations.

Careful with Orange (its pink)

Ordered the orange bike for my son at a store. Went to pick it up and it is not orange but pink. The pictures are very misleading. Luckily the bike store had a green bike and was willing to swap it out.

Defective Breaks & Rear Hub

Within one year of owning we had to replace both breaks, rebuild free hub twice. So much potential but the components of the bike are garbage. Between the bike, labor costs and replacement parts I would have been better off buying a Trailcraft.

Riprock 24 in Orange looks Pink

Beware the Orange color in person is more of a pinkish color. Very different from the solid orange on the website. I had to return as my son noticed immediately. Customer Service confirmed I loose $70 dollars in shipping. I'm seeing other reviews showing the online colors are known customer complaints which is concerning that the Website has not been updated for Green as well. No Specialized store near me. I consider myself a reasonable shopper but this is a bit deceitful. Burned once so going to continue local shopping.

Good bike. Defective brakes

It’s a great kids bike for the size and I’d still recommend. However, add $150 to the price (and more $ if you need to hire a shop to install new brakes) as you will have to replace the Radius brakes that come spec’d. Disappointed Specialized still specs this bike with brakes with a known and common manufacturing defect. With the initial lever squeeze, the lever goes all the way to the handle bar. On the second or third squeeze it finally catches. Completely unacceptable for a kid learning to brake. Search “Radius brake issue” and you’ll see. A brake bleed doesn’t solve the issue.

High quality build and ruggedness for my son’s first mountain bike

A great bike for my son who just turned 9 - we enjoyed putting it together for his birthday. And he can grow into it. He’s very tall for a 9 year old so this bike is probably suited for a 10-11 year old. The knobby tires slows him down ( a good thing) from his rip rock 20” which had smoother tires. The only negative is no kickstand or bottom brackets or treads to attach one. -but I understand this is a real mountain bike and not a street bike.

Fender looks good but weak

Fender looks good but weak connection point. Double check all bolts, rear axle was cross threaded from the factory. Warrantied without question but I caught the issue before it was ever used

My 6 year old was

My 6 year old was able to grasp riding his bike in 2 weeks exactly, no training wheels. This bike is smooth riding and sleek. My son picked out the gloss blaze/black color. It’s a bright nice color and he gets lots of compliments.

THIS IS THE PERFECT MACHINE!

I bought this bike to my son, whom is 6, a couple of months ago. We are hitting the trails in Florida about 3 to 4 times a week. The geometry is nothing like the stuff other companies offer for kids out there. He handles this bike incredible. No need for the extra weight of suspension fork. At some point I needed support and contacted C.S. and got connected to Joshua; wowww, excellent service and the responses are always positive. This bike is an investment! A true rideable bike for kids!
