2018 Men's Stumpjumper ST Alloy 29

I have had this bike for 1.5 yrs. Good entry level mtb. Problems - the rear shock broke, but that gave me an excuse to upgrade. I have not had problems with the drivetrain as other review(s) mention. I understand some of the brake complaints I read, but they are adequate and certainly ok for the price point. The bike is heavy, but coming from an older mtb with old style geometry, this climbs WAY better. If I did it again I would spend a little more in the same stump jumper line, but this was a good entry point to see if I wanted to ride again. I can't justify spending twice the price on a new one with higher specs at this point. Solid value.

As the base model of the Stumpjumper line, this bike had the basics you need to get going. The first thing that started giving me trouble is the drive train. I upgraded to 34T up front and the matching SLX cassete. This affordable upgrade brought some life back to the bike, making the entry level suspension work better as well.

I researched the best budget full suspension bike (that I could afford). I had some things I wanted...one important factor was upgradable. But so far, this bike rocks (no pun intended). Great bike to get back into riding, learning new skills while riding in the PNW. First upgrade will be a dropper post (saving my pennies); otherwise, the rest will be gravy.

I have nothing bad to say about this bike. I had already bought many specialized bikes and knew how good they were so I was a no brainer going with them. The new rear suspension on this bike is amazing. It is nice and firm on the climbs and squishy on the descents. Specialized really know what they are doing.

This bike is a good value. I love how much confidence I get from this bike. My riding has greatly improved in cornering, jumping, and descending at speed. The only thing negative I can say is the brakes are quite disappointing. The brakes lack power and feel as well as there is too much travel in the brake level. I have replaced the brakes with Shimano M395 which is a big improvement over the stock Tekro brakes. If you plan to ride aggressively, then I recommend you include the cost of upgrading the brakes when pricing this bike.

This thing performs unbelievable.... i just did my first 25 mile race with it and i couldnt be happier with the way it performed! Confidence inspiring is an understatement! I did change the rear tire (wasnt awesome) and cut the bars down to 720mm but thats my preference

Le modèle ST du Stumpjumper est un bon modèle pour débuter en trail. La finition du cadre est correcte et donne un bel aspect visuel. Équipé de composants début de gamme comme la fourche Recon RL ou l'amorto X-Fusion O2 pro rend le bike assez lourd... cependant cela ne se ressant pas trop dans les montées du à une bonne géométrie et une suspension avec un bon rendement. Cependant le réglage de rebond de la fourche est assez fragile et les réglages de l'amorto sont assez grossiers. Un peu déçu par le boîtier de pédalier: il s'agit là de roulements internes, je m'attendais pour ce prix à un fidèle boitier Truvativ à roulements externes. A part ça la transmission est plus que correcte pour le prix. Pour ce qui est des composants Spé rien à dire, le cintre bien large, de bons pneus et des roues qui font le taf. Point préféré: le système de protection de la base est un régal, le vélo ne bronche pas même dans les sections défoncées ou lors des sauts. C'est vraiment un point fort. Attention les seuls vrais défauts selon moi sont les freins. Si vous espérez descendre avec ce vélo et bien vous pourrez, pour vous arrêter c'est une autre histoire. Pour info mes freins en 180/160 sur un modèle XC (Scott Spark 960) freinaient aussi bien voire mieux que ces Tektro en 203/180 sur un modèle Trail quand même. Je sais que ce n'est pas un Enduro mais je m'attendais à pouvoir mieux descendre que ça avec un modèle Trail. Bon bike dans l'ensemble mais nécessite des upgrades pour pouvoir rivaliser avec les bikes de sa catégorie, Commencal Méta trail par exemple.

I recently visited my son in Davidson North Carolina and being a avid mountain biker at home I was keen to ride the trails near Davidson. After riding his Specialized Cambur at Fisher Farm I decided to hire a bike for myself so we could ride together. Mark at The Cycle Path in Cornelius fixed me up with a Stumpy,what a great bike. We rode Fisher Farm, Lake Norman State Park and the National White Water Center . I had a ball,what great places to ride. When I got back to Australia I purchased a Stumpjumper from Cycle Zone Mooloolaba , thanks to John and the team for great service. Attention SPECIALIZED, because of the top service and helpful advice from Mark at The Cycle Path in Cornelius ( even though he new I couldn't buy a bike from him) he was only to happy to help and promote your bikes. That's the way to win customers. I' m Rapped in my new Stumpy.

Having researched quite a few bikes I determined this was the one for me. Eats up many trails in my area without issue. A dropper post would have been the icing on the cake but I'll get one once the market starts moving to 34.9 and become more affordable. Until then I'll be in the trails.

Great bike for the price point, added the command wu dropper and it crushes trails.

Ride this thing on Midwest Trails. Seems like the perfect well rounded bike for the trails out here. Climbs better than the Fuel Ex 5. Feels slightly less aggressive than the fuel when descending which is fine for trail riding here. Very happy they made this bike at an entry price point.

Passer d'un SCOTT scale 35 au sr aloy. Quelle difficultés. Et pourtant ce vélo permet de faire les pistes noires dans les Pyrénées. Un régal. Seul bémol, un plateau 34 dents en plus aurait été un plus.

Bought a 2019 Stumpjumper ST after looking for an all around 29er. This bike is a fantastic value, 29"" wheels, decent components, good tires. I ride in New Hampshire, lots of rocks, roots and technical terrain, this bike works great for me. Set up the suspension using the online tool and it rides great. I will be adding a Wu dropper to finish out the package.

I got ride off my GIANT hard tail to get this bike, best decision ever. For the price range is perfect except that doesn't have dropper post as the other bikes from the competitors, and find a Dropper post for 34.9mm will cost you an arm

It works great, is nimble and snappy. But I'm very disappointed about the paint quality on the Matt black model. I bought it unseen as it was a brand new model. And the quality of ty Matt black is unexpectedly low. Scratches super easy. You can see any fingerprints or dirt on it and it's hard to clean. Plus it looks quite cheap. Also the brakes are performing on the lowest level. Besides that it's a great entry bike I think. I haven't had a Dual in a long time. So it takes some time to get used to the prices these days. It delivers great fun riding it. Just a bit disappointed about the above mentioned issues.

Really good all around bike. I've had several specialized bikes and when I was in the market for a full suspension bike with 29 inch wheels I was excited to see the Stumpjumper ST and decided on it over the Bad Habit 2 niner because of its claimed capacity of 3.0 wheel fitment (on this webpage). Got my 29x3.0 Maxxis Minions on it and found they rubbed on the top on the rear upper control arm near the linkage. Upon examination I dont understand why they created this bottleneck as it could easily been forged taller without creating any interference with other components. Now theyre telling me I need to go down to 27.5 rims to fit 3 inch wide tires which completely defeats my purpose of this bike. All bummed out.

I have had this bike for about a month now and love it. I recently changed the flip chip to the low position. This allows we a bit more control when rolling down rocks on some local trails. This is a very versital bike and you get a lot for the under $2,000 price point.

Great bike first full suspension bike and riding on 29's. The bike is very responsive and handles very well need to make a little more adjustment to the rear shock to get the sag right the front forks are great with plenty adjustment. All in all the is a great bike for the price.

If you were to take the DNA from a Velociraptor and cross breed it with a Honey Badger. That offspring wouldn't have anything on this sweet ride. Specialized conjured with dear lord sweet baby Jesus himself on the new Stumpjumper I believe. This thing completely shreds. Job well done job well done. We are truly not worthy.

This is my first real mountain bike, and dang does this thing sail! It files through the air well on my local pump track, and it has dominated on some gnarly Ft. Collins downhill trails! 40 miles on the bike and loving every bit of it.
