For a pair of mountain bike shorts to be functional, they not only need to be durable and lightweight, but they also need to be comfortable. And while we don't want to toot our own horn, our Atlas XC Comp Shorts have this all in spades.

To make sure of it, we made them from a woven version of our lightweight and ultra-breathable VaporRize™ fabrics. As a result, the shorts are more than tough enough to take repeated spills while you're finding your line, or losing it, without sacrificing anything to comfort.

In terms of fit, you'll find that these shorts fall comfortably between baggy and tight, but don't go over the top with it either way. As a result, we cut them to fall just around the knee, leaving plenty of room for light armor or kneepads. There are also side waist adjustment tabs that keep the waist where you want it when the pockets are loaded. And when it comes to pockets, there are plenty—two hand, two back, and one side zippered.

  • VaporRize™ woven fabrics maintain a great deal of stretch, while remaining extremely durable, lightweight, and effective at managing moisture.

  • Two zippered pockets provide a convenient storage solution for transporting your trail essentials.

  • Side waist adjustment tabs ensure that the fit of the shorts is easily customizable and dialed-in, even when your pockets are loaded

  • Deflect® UV 50+ protects your skin from harmful ultraviolet rays.

  • 14.5” inseam with tapered leg fit (size 34” waist) falls just above the knees, leaving room for pads without interfering on climbs.

  • Removable liner with Body Geometry Mountain chamois is light and breathable, while the chamois effectively relieves pressure on the soft tissue and encourages proper blood flow.

Maybe buy them again..?

Usually I go for a 34 waist. I had to get the 36 in these because the chamois liner runs very small.

Comfortable and Durable

I've used these shorts on over 10 rides so far, and they have been an amazing addition to the gear collection. Super lightweight and comfortable. After some hard crashes I figured I'd have some pretty noticeable scuffs or tears, but nothing has shown at all. The liner that comes with is a great addition for the longer rides.

Liner's a problem.

Love the shorts, but liner size does not match shorts size. Way too small!!

Perfect Short and Liner with one caveat

Just like it says, these are the perfect short and liner, either together or separate. I am 6'1"" and 154 lbs, thin and athletic. I ride XC and trail, but I don't want to be one of those losers who's dressed like I'm on my road bike when I'm in the woods, so I wear baggy shorts. These are the BEST and most perfectly fitting baggy shorts I have ever used. I wish I had bought more of them. The fabric is so light and durable and mobile and the fit is just exactly how I like my baggies: trim and tapered, so that they move with my legs while hammering and they stay out of the way of the saddle when the dropper goes down and the trail gets rowdy. In addition to the shorts, the liners are also the single most comfortable mountain liner I have ever used. They disappear completely when riding and you never have to squirm or readjust or any of that business. No weird baggy diaper effect like you so often have with poorly-designed liners. The only caveat with these shorts is that Specialized doesn't just sell these liners separately. I would gladly shell out half the cost of the shorts just to get more liners. Seriously I cannot believe how good the shorts and liners fit, but then again, Specialized tends to make the best-fitting clothes, so I guess it's not that surprising. I'm considering taking out a loan to buy a dozen more pairs of these. They are simply that good.
