From the outset of the Torch 3.0 Road shoe design process, our goal was to create a performance offering as feature-packed as any top-end shoe. The challenge, however, was pulling this off at a palatable price.

In order to achieve this, we utilized three strategically placed materials on the uppers that are welded together—TPU and mesh in the front and synthetic leather in the rear. This makes for a more comfortable and supportive front of the shoe. A stiff rear and heel cup, meanwhile, lock down your heel and keep all of your watts going into the pedals as efficiently as possible. This refined upper is combined with our legendary FACT carbon fiber sole to further ensure an efficient power transfer. Finally, we topped the Torch 3.0 off with two Boa® S2-SV Snap dials for zonal closure, and a precise fit that leads to all-day comfort.

  • FACT™ carbon composite sole and torsion box construction is directionally rigid for outstanding power transfer: Stiffness Index 8.5.

  • Dual Boa® S2-SV Snap dial closure for on-the-fly micro-adjustment, backed by the Boa® Lifetime Guarantee.

  • Mesh, TPU, and synthetic layer upper are placed in specific zones for comfort and lock-down, and are thermobonded for a superior fit.

  • Standard Fit for support and all-day comfort.

  • Three-bolt cleat pattern fits all major road pedals.

  • Approximate weight: 248g (1/2 pair, Size 42)

Fit like an iron trap

Shoes felt ok in the shop, like any other new shoe. A dozen rides later, there as absolutely zero break in. I can still feel every seem, every pressure point in these shoes. That is, until my feet go completely numb 30-45 minutes into a ride. But, a light rain and road grit solved that last problem: The BOA closures are gummed up and no longer can be turned tight enough to properly secure the shoe. I’m shocked Specialized has been able to sell these shoes (at a fairly high price) for five years. I’ve always liked Specialized shoes, but in my experience, every high end shoe they put out in the 2022-2023 period were just terrible. Probably why they turned over the entire model line for 2024.

Best fit for my foot.

This is my goto shoe fit-wise. But yes, the dial grips on these are pretty difficult to get a good hold of.

Good shoe, depending upon how long you expect it to last.

I've had these shoes now for two years (about 7k miles). The material on the top of the heel is starting to shred. Probably from my heel rubbing too hard on entry. Also, the coating on one of the BOA laces has come off a small segment. It seems fine as the core is fully intact. Also, one BOA tends to loosen on its own now under high pressure (I'm not a sprinter, so it isn't that big of a deal). Perhaps they just aren't meant to last that long? Aside from that, the sole is very stiff and they feel great. Although not as great as I had hoped, being a victim of occasional hotfoot. I thought the design and science behind them would make a huge difference over my previous shoes (Giro).

Australian suffers again

Limited sizing USA market gets 1/2 sizes Australia NOT. No wide fitting. Purchased a pair of the with my bike feet cold. After a 50KM ride the pain in my feet was unbearable no room in the toe area no give in the synthetic material. Please realise specialised man is not built entirely the same bring 1/2 sizes and wide fit to the masses.
