not as good as S-Works Turbo

Having ridden the S-Works Turbo for many years, at least 30 tires, I've now been thru multiple sets of the T2/T5 as well. It's not as good. While I appreciate what Specialized tried to do, which is address the short falls of the S-Works turbo (lack of durability and puncture prone), what they gave up in terms of grip/speed/feel are not worth the trade off. The center of the T2/T5 is too slick and does not remove the puncture prone nature of the tire. I have also had more than one T2/T5 start to split where the two compounds meet. Not acceptable for tires at this price point. While the S-Works turbo was expensive, was fast to wear out, and too easy to puncture, the first 1000 to 1500 miles were pure bliss. I feel compelled to reevaluate other brands after having been settled on Specialized tires for years. I use Specialized bike, helmet, shoes... virtually everything, but you really should go back to the old tire and just try to improve it, the new ones aren't working.

Grippy and fast

Great tyres. Not sure how some reviews on this page say these that these tyres don’t have any grip - they’re grippier and faster (with latex tubes) than the schwalbe pro ones on my other set of wheels. The 28mms come up as 28mm on my 19mm internal rims.

Dangerous in wet conditions. Specialised take note.!

I'm sorry to say but, These have got to be the most dangerous tyres I've ever owned. OK on the surface they look like they should gave grip, but the rubber construction is extremely slippy when wet. As others have pointed out they slip (A lot) even on the shallowest of climb. To a point now I will not use them at all in the wet. I ride over 12k miles a year and go through quite a lot of tyres on our crappy british roads. So i do know when a tyre is of poor rubber. If you own a pair already, then I'd advise you to be very cautious on damp/wet corners. All the best G.

Nice Tire with one issue...getting them off!

Overall very pleased with these tires. Used the 700x28 and got a 1200 miles out of the pair. Had a little life left, but a gash in the front led to a premature end. The gash held up and was discovered once I got home so no fault on the tire. Don't want to curse myself but over the miles I got out of them had minimal flats. Tires are super light, give lots of confidence on cornering and roll very nicely. Durability is low but nature of the game with a tire like this. Mounting on Roval wheels isn't to bad. The problem came when trying to remove the tires to replace. Fought with the buggers for 2 hours using every trick in the book. Could get one bead to break, but the other was the challenge. Running tubes so wasn't dried up sealant. Finally I won but wow! Like these tires enough that I replaced with the same. This time went with 30s (size was on sale compared to the 28s). Mounted easily and running at 80psi (I'm a big guy). Ride is lovely.

Unusable on even slightly damp roads

I am extremely disappointed with the new Specialized Turbo tyre. Despite my high expectations, it has proven to be dangerously ineffective on wet roads. The tyres slip even with minimal power when going up slight inclines, and they recently caused my first crash in years while navigating a roundabout at a slow pace. After putting over 40000km on my bike using the previous gen S-Works Turbo tyre without any issues in wet conditions, this new model is a severe downgrade. It's unusable and poses a serious safety risk.

Best modern road bike I’ve ridden

This bike checks all the boxes for light-weight performance, design, handling and appearance. The frame and fork yield a ride that is on the rails, jumps when you start to climb and handles like an extension of your body. Shimano Di2 is flawless. With the option of using wider tires up to 32c, this is the perfect performance road bike.

Best tyre I have used to date

I don't understand why people are saying it is slippery. I use this on my rear wheel in dry and wet conditions and haven't had a problem. Not to mention, it is the one tyre that I have never had a puncture on yet. I could be just lucky. I am about to replace it with a new one as it has become very worn. I am also going to replace my front tyre because it is also due. I will keep an eye on how slippery they are. Maybe you need to use two to notice this, but I haven't noticed anything different.

Abnormally slippery (clincher version)

I honestly can't understand when I see that the majority of buyers and online reviews say wonderful things about the tire when my experience is exactly the same mentioned by 2 buyers here on reviews. They are abnormally slippery when cornering. The bike literally runs away. I've previously had the old turbo and swork turbo models (always with tubes) and I've never had this scary experience I'm having with this model. All this in dry tar. Money thrown in the trash.

Fast

Added 2mph to my usually average speed on my first training ride out with these bad boys (as compared with my previous Vittoria's). Gives the bike a whole new feel and I like that I can run them at lower psi. Would highly recommend

Faster and more durable

Loving this new version of the Sworks turbo tire, tube only version . Lighter and 1000 miles with no flats, using a turbo tube on one bike and a latex on another.

Poor puncture resistance

Bought these based on a good review on cycling media. I wanted a puncture resistant but light, grippy Autumn /winter tire. On my first trip out in September, both tires front and rear, punctured. I put this down to Autumn debris in the road. Two weeks later I got a bad puncture in the rear tire and discovered that it had ripped through. I will be returning.

Fast and great handling

This is the first set of the new turbo T2/T5 that I have used and they are definitely improved over the previous S-Works turbo. Seem to corner better and seem more "grippy", possibly better rolling resistance also? I loved the old Turbo's and these are better. I ran 700x26 on the old and ordered the same size on the T2/T5's and they seem narrower? Could possibly be my perception but will order the 700x28's for the other bike.

Specialized T2/T5

Worst tire ever. Very tight and hard to mount on carbon wheels. Multiple punctures, thorns?!!. Went tubeless and small pinholes wouldn’t seal. I would never buy these again.

Definitely my new go to tyre

Even the punctures I have gotten with this tyre have barely gone through. All the other tyre models I have used always got shredded. While riding this model tyre, I have only ever had slow leak punctures, never any large cuts in the tyre. Well done, and please keep on improving them.

These suckers are FAST!

Amazing handling with very low rolling resistance. I found them to be much faster and better support and handling than the S-Works Turbo. They do seem to run a bit smaller. I normally run 28’s but going to try the 30’s

T2 T5 tires

I have been riding the Cottons but when I went to buy new ones after a puncture the Specialized Concept store in Frejus, France told me that they Cottons were discontinued. I loved the feel of the Cottons on the road but they are a little thin, fragile and puncture prone, especially after a few Kilometers. I bought the T2 T5s and rode them in La Vencoise, a Gran Fondo in Vence France. They felt good but not as comfortable as the Cottons which were exceptional. I think that the T2 T5s are the way to go as they are great quality, comfortable enough and more resistant to punctures.

Very Happy with my purchase!!

In short, Tires live up to the expectations, rolling resisstance is minimal and I love that. Ive ridden over some rough roads with unexpected bumps and so far so good. It rained during todays ride, and regarding about them being slippery on wet or dry surfaces, have not had that issue yet, I mean I dont go braking or turning curves carelessly so no problem there atleast for me. Very happy with these i was reluctant due to the price but i gave in, and i must say its a good investment. Ride safe and keep the rubber side down:sign_horns|type_3:

New turbo t5/t7

Hi, I have never done this before but feel it necessary. I’ve been riding s-works turbos since they first came out. I can’t recall how long, double digits. They’ve always been, coin the term “like Velcro” even in the wet, which I ride, and enjoy. These new s-works turbos are ridiculously slippery, dry and wet conditions. Be aware and careful, modulating in the dry can lead to sliding even. In the wet, I’ve been 2 wheel drifting only to catch a brake bump in the tar that stopped me from crashing. I entered the corner with care to conditions etc. Once also at a set of lights, yes, smooth bitumen and slight rain BUT taking off at the lights, minimal torque the rear tyre spun, haha, no traction at all. Absurd! I can’t recall having ever done that! I had to pull over, there was no visible contaminants on road or tyre. I’ve just come back from a ride, DRY! And slid twice under modulation and correcting around a small ditch. Buyer be aware!

Power to inner tubes!

Thank you thank you Specialized for making an inner tube-only tire. These can be mounted on the rim with your hands no problem, and they inflate nice and round, no lumps and bumps and hassles getting the bead seated properly all the way around the rim. Nice and light, super fast rolling. All around excellent.
