At a mere 150 grams, the S-Works EXOS are the lightest cycling shoes to ever come with a Boa® dial. And not only are they ridiculously light, but they still have all the features that are synonymous with the S-Works label. They’re still at that World Tour level, just ridiculously light.

To get the weight down to the 150-gram mark without sacrificing power transfer, we implemented all the engineering bells and whistles we could think of. And when that wasn’t enough, we thought up some more. The carbon outsole was developed using an advanced form of Finite Element Analysis and pressure mapping to pull out material where it wasn’t needed. This allowed us to keep crazy-high stiffness numbers, too. For the uppers, we completely removed the heel counter. And with a little help from the space-grade Dyneema® mesh and some CubicTec reinforcement, the heel molds to the back of your foot, so nary a watt is wasted. Lastly, we developed a new Warp Sleeve vamp that let us get rid of the toe box, and this further cut down the weight and increased the comfort.

Of course we couldn't do any of the above without including our coveted Body Geometry features, like the Longitudinal Arch, Varus Wedge, and Metatarsal Button. Each one of these features have been ergonomically designed and scientifically tested to not only boost power, but to also increase efficiency and to reduce the risk of injury.

The S-Works EXOS are the lightest cycling shoes to ever have a Boa® dial—experience the feeling of lightness.

  • Body Geometry sole and footbed are ergonomically designed and scientifically tested to boost power, increase efficiency, and reduce the chance of injury by optimizing hip, knee, and foot alignment.

  • Our lightest FACT Powerline™ carbon plate maximizes power transfer: Stiffness Index 13.0

  • A revolutionary Dyneema® Mesh allows us to achieve weight without sacrificing hold for the ultimate connection and comfort.

  • BOA® IP1 Fit System for on-the-fly micro-adjustment, backed by the Boa Guarantee.

  • Titanium alloy cleat nuts can rotate to position pedal/cleats 5mm rearward.

  • Non-slip, replaceable heel tread with internally recessed screws for security.

  • Form Fit last with a Warp Sleeve vamp for the ultimate in connectivity, comfort, and speed.

  • Three-bolt cleat pattern fits all major road pedals.

  • Approximate weight: 140g (1/2 pair, Size 42)

Lightweight shoes

Dyneema material at the top of the shoes while making the shoes extremely light, it lacks structural support. The front part of the shoes (where the toes at) collapses, quite unsightly.

Good shoe overall, but I haven't really tested it yet, as I have been wearing with booties. The shoes are tight at the top of the foot and loose down by the toes, so it takes some getting used to. The bottom plate is big and very stable, which is nice.

Feels like a feather when worn . Like second skin. The wheel thingy is precise where I need it to snug my feet . I need a cleat cover so that I can walk around and not damage it. I have them hooked on my ultegra carbon fiber clipless. It is made of dyneema which I am expecting that this should afford long lasting mileage. I am a 38 in these. But in regular USA sizing I'm a 7.5 in shoes. They have stretched out a tad since I have worn them so I'm pretty sure it's a keeper

Customer service was great: credited first order and received the new shoes shortly there after. Honest

I have always used Sidi 6.6 Mega due to my USA 11.5 Wide feet, Sales person brought out 11.5, though claims 11.75/45.5?? They are tight, but figured over some time they would stretch out, which they have, though still a little snug, Heal fit is great, no slipping!! Issues: The ball of the feet do get sore depending on what I’m doing and the pressure I’m exerting and I’m using their “blue” insoles. I think it’s due to the material loss in this area where they put the screens? I did have an issue with the upper material at the front lifting away from the lower on my kick out foot!!!! Not even a year old!!! Would like to see TWO Boas!! It loosen ups to where I have to retighten two/three times a ride!! Though this shoe has small issues, it is a great shoe to ride in. I did go back to my Sidi and really dislike it now.

I did a lot of research to understand if this would be a good shoe for me. Like the 13 stiffness, stiff, but not too stiff. I like the light weight and slipper like feel. I bought these shoes for riding in Tucson, AZ - since my feet swell in the heat and I wanted a light, cool shoe. They are very comfortable and totally have met my criteria. Normally I wear a women’s size 8 or Euro 40 but I bought Euro 41 and they feel a little big- making me wish there was a 40.5 available when I bought mine.

I kinda get what Specialized

I kinda get what Specialized tried to do with this shoe, but it didn’t work out for me. My initial thoughts were very positive, the shoe “looks” and feels extremely light. However, wearing this particular shoe felt like wearing a tarp. The shoe upper is extremely thin, it’s made out of tarp’ish material and the only rigid part is the tongue, this makes the shoe feel very weak and fit awkwardly because the tongue moves side to side. Giving that it only had one boa system meant that any other extra adjustments besides the normal, would hurt and put unnecessary pressure at the instep. Based on price point I don’t think this is a 400+ shoe, because it wouldn’t last, it will literally tear and fall apart with the slightest scratch from chainrings to falls, etc… Don’t buy this shoe unless you are going to use it for indoor cycling.

Good, but could be better

The good: Stupid light - shaving 130 grams off my already-light SWorks road shoes (older generation). Very comfortable, like wearing socks. The bad: You are definitely not as locked-in as with more conventional shoes. Particularly, when pulling up, there is some give. The location of the cutouts in the sole is somewhat odd - in the furthest-back position, the outside rear corner of the cleat is "free-floating" with nothing above it to support it (I'm using TIME cleats/pedals). More of an issue when walking than pedaling perhaps, but I'm a bit concerned about the cleat failing over time without any support. The ugly: I had to spend half an hour to file down the screws that come with my cleats to avoid them poking into the inside of the shoe. For a $400 shoe, Spesh could include 20 cents worth of screws that fit! Skip the useless shoe bag if you want to save cost. Also, I could do without them plastering a tacky, oversize S-Works logo over everything.

Nailed it!

They can stop making bikes and just run with these shoes! The TL/DR is hot feet = must buy. I had been pining over these as a way to deal with hot days and hotter feet, and my dear wife treated me to them as a gift. They're as stiff as my Shot-Carbons - but for hot day riding there is no comparison. There is so much room in the toe box; they breathe incredibly well; no hot points from seams; and I don't know that I'll ever ride any shoes that are lighter. Best of all, they were bone-dry by time I drove home from our ride meet-up. My other shoes can take an overnight. The only ding I could find would be that the tongue started to rub at about mile-50 when I use no-show socks. My Sidis do the same - more a critique on wearing no-shows than the shoes.

Too tight near the stitching

I love the feel of the shoe, very light and the thin material seems to find a good fit, but the part close to the stitching is way too tight, wish there was a wide sizing or higher volume available. Actually I think that expensive shoes should be custom made for individual clients.

Wow!

My old bike shoes are able 15 years old. They still worked so I had a hard time buying new ones, even though my toes went numb and I've superglued the straps a few times. These are simply amazing out of the box, and even more so once on your feet. I had doubts about the single BOA working for my narrow, high arched feet, but they feel super comfortable and supportive. I might add insoles for extra arch support, but these hug my feet. I just got back from my normal hilly 20 mile ride and averaged more than 1 mph faster. Some might just be stoke, but it really felt like I was getting more power out of every pedal stroke. Totally worth it.

Light, Stiff and Really Comfortable

True to fit and perfect for wide forefoot and high arch. Sole has cut outs that do not seem to sacrifice stiffness. Lots of room in the toe box and although heel cup is not reinforced, it offers a secure grip when worn. Initial concern about the single Boa went away after the first ride. Padded tongue allows you to really tighten down without pinching or arch discomfort. The upper materials are very light, strong and I'm hoping durable. Price a bit high but this is a GREAT shoe and you are paying for some cutting edge technology. You can't get any lighter and there is no road shoe like it.

Perfect shoes

Great fit, exactly as advertised. I have a narrow heel and wider forefoot, and the fit takes care of both issues better than any shoe I've owned. There is no slip at the heel, and the toes never feel cramped. The stiffness of the sole is apparent from the first ride. And they are crazy light: I ride Speedplay pedals, and even with the 3 hole adapter, they are much lighter than my previous speedplay specific shoes. At $500, you should expect exceptional performance, and so far these deliver. I know from previous experience with Dyneema that it is as strong or stronger than Kelvar but far more resistant to abrasion (flexing when dirty is enough to weaken Kevlar), so there shoukd be long-lasting. Well done.

Fantastic for my feet

My foot is very wide in front, average width in back with a very high arch. I have a pair of custom D2s and second-hand pairs of DMTs (size 45 with a size 47 toe box paired with a size 43 heal). I got my DMTs from a retired pro and they were my best fitting shoes, before the Exos, better than the custom D2s. I use all of these shoes with custom Rocket 7 carbon insoles - so I can't comment on the included insoles that don't seem to offer much support especially for someone with high arches. The Exos is now my favorite shoe - even with the stretchy toebox, I cut a small hole over my right small toe bunion - after a couple of months the hole has not enlarged and the shoe is still in good condition. I like these shoes so much that I bought a second pair (same size 45) and they fit slightly better - haven't felt the need to cut hole yet. Initially, I was interested in the lightweight but now I'm even more impressed with the overall fit and function. I use these with an aluminum Speedplay adaptor plate so I can place my cleat about 2 cm behind the standard position.

Not a great fit, seam of shoe ripped

I bought these shoes back in June of 2019 and unfortunately this September (2019) I found a rip on a seam one day. The rip was right where the bottom of the shoe meets the Dyneema material and it was the white material that ripped. I have not crashed while wearing these shoes, but something sharp must have grazed them while riding I guess. I also found that I would need to tighten down the BOA extremely tight in order for the shoe to fit. If the BOA was not tight, my foot would slide around in the shoe. I think it's a great concept of shoe! Lightweight, easy to slip on and off, but maybe the single BOA design and flexible heal cup could be improved.

EXOS is AWESOME!!!!!!

I am a 69 year old cyclist with terrible foot problems. For years I have struggled with foot pain regardless of the cycling shoes I tried. Usually an hour into my ride and my feet hurt so bad (corns, pressure points, etc.) that I would have to almost stop pedaling to relieve the pain. Cycling was not fun and I struggled through my rides. Then I found Exos. Problem solved. Foot pain is gone. Corns don't hurt and no pressure pain. Like riding in ballet slippers. I bought a second pair I love them. Thank you Specialized and Bobs Bikes in Birmingham Alabama.

Light as a Feather, strong as Iron

A fantastic iteration of an extremely lightweight purpose driven shoe. Made for warmer temperatures when lightweight and minimal material is at its most desirable. The feel is more like a slipper than a standard cycling shoe which may feel weird at first, but once you start pedaling you forget you preconceptions and simply appreciate that the power transfer is the same as always coupled with the shedding of a lot of weight.
