2018 S-Works Prevail II

Light, good construction and I looks great.

You would be better off spending $100 on another helmet and $5 on a sweatband. I seriously wanted the ""Gutter Action"" feature to work but it doesn't. Stinging sweat pours into my eyes after about 20 minutes of riding. I tried snug fit, tight fit and light fit; none worked. Good looking product, but so are $100 helmets.

I'm now on my third Prevail helmet. (The first two were destroyed in, what could have been tragic, collisions with distracted drivers.) I trust my noggin to this feather light marvel. The fit and ventilation are exceptional. I wear regular, full-time glasses so the small gap between the strap and my head accommodates the temples without having to remove them whenever I take the helmet off/on. It would be hard to find another helmet, at any price, that checks all the boxes like the PREVAIL.

Assuming this helmet was provided rider first engineering, take my review with a grain of salt. I purchased this helmet, tried it on with my Jawbreakers and immediately put it back in the box for return. Not entirely sure why SL decided to build the straps so far away from the skin, but the 1/2"" gap was not only annoying, but looks weird, and functions poorly (for me). Doesn't make sense to me, having to leave your chin strap more loose than usual, to accommodate cycling glasses, which are pretty much all designed to fit over straps. Disappointed because everything else about the helmet seems flawless... well I could talk about the price. -2 stars.

I've tried many helmets and I always reach for this one. The fit system is secure and extremely comfortable. It's lightweight and nicely ventilated.

This has been my go to helmet for quite some time! It really has a perfect snug fit, while still remaining comfortable and lightweight for long rides. I never really notice it's on and the ventilation is great for hot summer rides.

Simply the most comfortable helmet I've worn to date! Mountain rides, gravel rides, road rides, cruises to the coffee shop, it does it all. I often forget I have it on my head when pulling up to the coffee shop mid ride and get no hot spots on those long days in the saddle! Protect your brain with this no brainer of a purchase!

I use this helmet strictly for Mountain Biking (I don't own a road bike). 1 Million Feet of Climbing and Descending with it o far. It's super comfortable and easy to snug the fit just right with the adjustment dial in the back. It is so light and comfortable I've had to reach up when starting on several rides over the year to feel if it was actually on (after one time riding off thinking it was already on, no kidding, true story, it's that light and comfortable). Very well ventilated, I've never felt any heat build up even on the hottest days and hottest climbs.

Living in Florida I always worry about overheating with helmets. This helmet does not even feel like its on (no neck stiffness after ride) and is cool (can actually feel air flow) and it looks pretty freaking awesome as well. My glasses (Oakley and 100%) fit easily in the holes to make it a total package for riding.

I bought this helmet based on looks- so glad I did. This helmet feels much lighter on your head than it does in your hands, and it's ridiculously light in your hands. The straps are easy to adjust and comfortable. But the best part of this helmet- the ventilation. When comparing this helmet to others, it doesn't have the largest vents, but they are the most effective vents I've experienced. And in the Florida heat and humidity- it can make a huge difference in ride comfort

I've had a hard time finding a helmet that stays comfortable on long rides (40+miles). This helmet has been the ticket! It's very lightweight and has a great amount of venting to keep you cool either on trails or roads. Simple to adjust- the dial in the back snugs it up and the chin strap are both easy to use. I like how sleek it looks and have no problem wearing it on my mountain bike rides, either.

I have owned previous S-Works helmets and liked them all. This newest model, the Prevail II is the lightest and best fitting so far. My local shop ordered the black/hyper yellow model for me and I am very pleased with how it looks. I really like how the fit adjustment system adapts to fit my head perfectly. I hardly notice I'm wearing it. The straps fit great and I especially like how my glasses fit inside the front straps.

I've always bought high level and quality helmets from other brands. This is the first time I've bought a Prevail II. I've found the Prevail very similar in quality to the other brands I've owned, but the stand out difference is it's weight and size. One of my colleague engineers noticed the dual density foam on the sides of the helmet instantly. I'm guessing this is how Specialized got the weight down and safety rating just right... Great helmet!

I already loved my Prevail 2 for its light weight and ventilation. Then I crashed my mountain bike off a cliff & it proved its true worth. While I broke 5 bones in my body, despite hitting head first into a tree I had no head injuries other than a concussion. I'll be buying a new one as soon as my surgeon says I can get back out. Thanks Specialized!!

This is a great improvement over the original Prevail. It's much quieter and it the fit for me is much better. The dial I. The back make securing it before a ride quick and easy. I have no problems with the rear straps flapping during a ride. You need to adjust the height of the plastic straps inside the helmet to get it fitted right.

The rear straps buckle out and cannot be adjusted. They flap annoyingly against your head on descents. I've tried it all - moving the helmet forward and back, making the front strap so tight I can't wear the helmet for long, but the rear straps are still too loose. It's a design flaw. There are much better helmets at this price

I recently received my helmet and the medium size prevail fit perfectly; however, when I attempted to secure the buckle I could not adjust it to fit squarely under my chin. The left TriFix strap does not have any extra material to move it under my chin so I cannot securely fasten the buckle in the ""proper"" position. I sent an email to Specialized about this and inquired if I should return the medium for a large and I still have not received a response. I am not sure if the large would be to big since the medium fit perfect. If I were a designer for Specialized, I would redesign the TriFix with an adjustable strap on both sides of the helmet ensuring this problem never happens again.

The straps are an absolute fail. No idea what prompted Specialized designers to have the Prevail II straps project outward, rather than the close to skin like literally 99% of the helmet designs out there. Buyer beware. Returning this helmet for refund.

We were out on the trail then suddenly the trail spit and there was a jump but we were going quite fast the b-line goes right and through the gap of the jump. I took the jump and my buddy went around. Then the next thing I saw was my buddy was underneath me. My back wheel clipped his back and I OTB'ed i hit my head on the ground and the Multi-Density EPS construction soaked up all the shock.

Title says it all, this helmet is so light you barely feel it on your head. It's really well ventilated, can easily be adjusted to a comfortable fit and it looks nice as well.

This helmet is by far the best helmet I have ever used. It is light and very well ventilated, you can barely feel it. It also fits snugly and very comfortably on the head and the adjustability of the helmet is superb.
