Whether your goal is to escape on gravel back roads, far from cars and crowds, or drop the hammer at the front of your favorite gravel race, no bike does it better than the new Diverge. It’s quite simply the fastest, most capable - and just maybe the most fun - bike we’ve ever made, delivering a ride that’s quick and lively under power, but stable and confidence inspiring when the terrain gets rough. From Future Shock 1.5 and all-new gravel geometry, to category leading tire clearance, the new Diverge represents everything we’ve learned over more than 40 years of riding road, gravel and dirt. The Diverge writes an entirely new chapter in the gravel bike category, so you can dream up entirely new rides. It’s the ultimate getaway vehicle.

Base? This is the first bike to be insulted by its own name. The Diverge Base Carbon got our Future Shock 1.5 and a FACT 8r carbon frame for a fast, confident and comfortable ride on road, in the dirt, and over thick gravel. SRAM’s APEX 1x11 mechanical shifting and alloy Axis Elite wheels make the Diverge Base as capable as it is versatile. Our Pathfinder Sport 38mm tires provide the right contact patch for performance across multiple surfaces - pavement, dirt and gravel - providing even more versatility.

  • With a FACT 8r carbon frame, the Diverge Base frame is incredible capable and race bike light. Pin it for your local dirt climb KOM, or grind up a giant back country peak, the light and lively Diverge will get you there faster.

  • Speed, control and confidence - Future Shock 1.5 is ideal technology for the gravel rider. With 20mm of axial compliance, Future Shock 1.5 is progressively tuned to keep you confident and in control, able to keep the power down and stay off the brakes over rough dirt roads and in thick loose gravel, all while keeping your hands, arms and neck fresh.

  • We tossed gravel geometry ‘status-quo’ out the window. The new Diverge has the most progressive geometry we’ve ever created for a drop bar bike, giving riders a capable and stable bike in the dirt, that still feels responsive and nimble on the road. We’ve increased the frame’s reach, introduced a slacker head tube and a longer offset fork. All this creates incredible confidence with a planted feeling in the dirt, while spec’ing shorter stems keeps the overall cockpit length the same and the steering lively. We’ve kept the bike’s BB low to increase stability, but high enough to utilize with 650b wheels if that’s your jam.

  • We’ve given the Diverge plenty of rack mounts, including fork and top tube mounts, to ensure you can take what you need, no matter how far you plan to go, or how long you plan to stay out.

  • Nothing unlocks a bike’s capability like tire clearance, so we gave the new Diverge a whopping 47mm of tire clearance with a 700c wheel and 2.1” with a 650b wheel. Thanks to a drive side chain stay utilizing a solid beam of carbon behind the chain rings we’ve created clearance without using a fragile dropped chain stay design or increasing chain stay length.

Great fit, snappy ride, some disappointments

There's lots to love about this bike. The fit and ride is superb. This bike is snappy and very comfortable. I'm riding paved and gravel rail trails, and I'm completely loving the 1x setup for its simplicity. The extra-clean look of the single ring is cool too. The shock... well worth it. I'm apprehensive about the Axis group, but given the complete lack of any bikes in stock anywhere, I decided to take a chance, and here's where I confronted my first disappointment so far: shifting was out of whack right out of the gate on the first ride. The shop that sold me was the bike was a two hour drive away from home. They said it would be an overnight repair, no exceptions, so I paid a local Specialized shop to do it rather than make two return trips, two hours in each direction. Spent nearly $4K on a bike and got no support. Disappointed in the shop. Disappointing that Specialized wouldn't reimburse me for the tune up on a bike that hadn't even turned a wheel yet. It runs great now.

Great !!

done ~1500 miles, only problem was jumping gears 3m old, just needed the cable tightened, still rides and stops like a new bike find it hard to be critical as I haven't had any issues with my bike, use dry lube after every long ride and thats about it, good pair of cycling shorts and noise cancelling ear pods and away I go for hours only stopping now and again for a drink or appreciate the view OK I'm used to mountain bikes last 30y so not an authority on road bikes but the difference, speed and ride is so positive I'm just very happy, so sad even went out on Christmas day at 8am for 70m ride, roads were quite and weather mild, great start to the day

Love this bike

Bought the Diverge Base Carbon to replace my AWOL of many years. So happy with this purchase. It's a fantastic bike. The only feedback I'd give is that for this price point it should come with Force 1. Also, I was unaware that this level comes with Future Shock 1.5 not 2.0 so be aware.

Awesome

Not much heavier than my old 2012 Tarmac carbon it replaced. I run it with 42c Sawtooth tubeless. With these and the shock most road bumps are absorbed, rides great on smooth/gravel/forest trail and still does a good speed on the road. Great bike

My second Diverge and I am extremely happy with this bike!

I am coming from a 2018 Diverge A1 Sport - or was it a 2017... in any case that bike was the best set of wheels I ever had beneath me. It was fast, balanced, and for me the addition of a flat bar made it my everything everywhere cycle. This carbon frame with the Future-shock and the 1 by 11 gearing takes what was amazing to another level completely. I cannot say enough how much I love riding this Diverge. I have an electric bike too - it's fun and fast, but since getting this bicycle a few days ago I have not once chosen to ride the electric over this. I can't imagine this being the base model of the carbon frame - it makes me wonder just how much better the higher level bikes in this family must be - next purchase - I am good right now and don't think I am missing as much as one might believe. Thanks Specialized - this bike is a killer
