With a premium E5 alloy frame and a full carbon FACT fork the Diverge Base E5 delivers a fast, confident and comfortable ride on road, in the dirt, and over thick gravel. Shimano’s Claris 2x8 group gives a wide range of gears for any terrain, while Axis Elite alloy wheels and Road Sport 35mm tires provide an efficient ride on pavement with the versatility for hard pack dirt riding.

  • Our Premium E5 Aluminum frame provides a stiff, light, and durable platform. When mated to our full carbon FACT fork, the Diverge Base E5 becomes a light, lively and versatile bike ready to attack any surface.

  • We tossed gravel geometry ‘status-quo’ out the window. The new Diverge has the most progressive geometry we’ve ever created for a drop bar bike, giving riders a capable and stable bike in the dirt, that still feels responsive and nimble on the road. We’ve increased the frame’s reach, introduced a slacker head tube and a longer offset fork. All this creates incredible confidence with a planted feeling in the dirt, while spec’ing shorter stems keeps the overall cockpit length the same and the steering lively. We’ve kept the bike’s BB low to increase stability, but high enough to utilize with 650b wheels if that’s your jam.

  • We’ve given the Diverge plenty of rack mounts, including fork and top tube mounts, to ensure you can take what you need, no matter how far you plan to go, or how long you plan to stay out.

  • Nothing unlocks a bike’s capability like tire clearance, so we gave the new Diverge a whopping 47mm of tire clearance with a 700c wheel and 2.1” with a 650b wheel. Thanks to a drive side chain stay utilizing a machined alloy beam behind the chain rings we’ve created clearance without using a fragile dropped chain stay design or increasing chain stay length.

Very poor braking performance

I helped my partner choose this bike. The bike is really let down by the performance of the brakes. They're significantly worse than rim brakes or v brakes. They just don't slow the bike down enough. My partner refuses to ride the bike because she's scared she won't be able to stop.

Super bon !

1 an et 6 mois d'usage quotidien, 5000km au compteur, vélotaff comme bonne balade ( 120km), par tout temps : canicule, comme gèle, pluie forte, boue, poussière. 1 seul soucis : le disque de frein a du être voilé en descente, ( donc la faute au pilote ? :D ) ça tambourine dans le guidon sur les freinages ! Merci ! :D

Converted from mountain bike

My introduction to gavel bikes had been apprehensive but this bike is incredible in looks, design and ride. I know I am a novice but the gears and kit on this bike are more than capable for daily fitness riding I do around 25 miles every workout every other day. After reading many reviews and having the diverge recommended to me by my local bike shop I have upped my fitness having used my mountain bike through 2020 lockdown and my Christmas present was the diverge in Smokey grey which is a great colour. I think this bike is perfect 👌

I really like my new bike.

Been using my new Diverge to ride gravel paths and roads in our area for little over a month. Not only is the Diverge easy to ride on gravel it is still relatively fast on the road.

Fantastic after some tweaking

I received my Diverge Base E5 in Gloss Blaze/Smoke/Chrome/Clean size 54 on September 11, 2020 after a three month wait. It was worth the wait. A four star plus bike so far. The shifting had to be tweaked a bit to get it right. Had the steerer been longer to allow for more personalization of fit probably would have given it five stars. As of today September 27, 2020 I've already put almost 200 miles on it. Mods already done Brooks B17 saddle Flat pedals Crankbrothers Stamp 2 Large Ritchey 4-AXIS ADJUSTABLE STEM 120mm Thru axle adapter for mounting on mag trainer Notes: The color is not quite as ORANGE as it appears on the pictures on the site mine is a bit paler more towards Coral. Future mods: Better tires Tubus rack Fenders/ Mudguards

Worth every penny

Have had this beauty (Satin Smoke/Cool Grey) for about a week and am absolutely loving it, have been riding every single day. This is my first real bike, so I don't have much of a reference point, but I would highly recommend based on my experience - extremely light and quick for how sturdy it is. Unfortunately had a few issues with gearing at first, but got that straightened out the bike shop at which I purchased it, and now it is riding great. Have been mostly sticking to road riding, but it seems capable enough when ""diverging"" off here and there, and am really looking forward to taking it on some trails more extensively. With how good the bike is, I am only wishing I had gone with the next model up...

Pros Cons Suggestions

I have the 2019 model and I love it. It is my daily commuter and I do not take it off road. After one year of ownership I finally replaced the Sunrace rear cassette that comes stock with a Shimano cassette and Shimano chain. I can finally pedal with confidence that my chain will not slip in the highest gear. Get rid of the stock rear cassette and the doubts when you want to go fast. The wheels, rear one in particular, took a crud on me. Axis Sport wheels kinda suck. I replaced the rear one with a Mavic covered under warranty. All in all this is the perfect bike for me. Maybe it will be for you too:)

Love the bike but a few things to note.

After a few weeks I'm loving this bike, on pavement anyway. Super light, high speeds with low effort, extremely stable, and very snappy/responsive. I've gone from riding a few times a month to riding every day! Few things to note: - The paint chips easily. After a single chain drop and one unavoidable chain slap, I've got multiple chips right down to the bare aluminum. I added a K-Edge road guide and some 2228 to prevent both going forward. I also removed the front wheel to load the bike into my truck and a bunch of paint flaked off the fork. If you like a pristine bike you will have to be very careful. - IMO the tires really limit the performance of this bike. In the stock form I would consider this a road bike that won't collapse if you have to jump a curb. The gearing is not mtb enough for me to keep seated while climbing steep & loose surfaces. The second you stand for more power the back wheel loses grip. I'm sure as my fitness improves this will be less of an issue, but worth mentioning for beginner riders. I did 40km on gravel last weekend and had to go very slow on the descents and loose patches. I have next to no confidence on these skinny low tread tires. Packed dirt paths are a blast however. The carbon fork really helps to smooth things out. - Not sure if it's the hardware, or just mechanical discs on drops in general, but I find the brakes very hard to operate compared to the same setup on flat bars. I usually have sore fingers after even a short ride. This will hopefully improve as I build more muscle in my hands. The levers are also pretty far out if you have smaller hands. It's a bit of a reach to grab them while in the drops. I asked the shop about both points and they said there isn't much they can do adjustment wise and that I just need to get used to it. I should have saved up and bought the next model up that features hyrdo brakes and newish GRX groupset. Oh well. Recommended: Add a chain guide, chainstay protection, and new tires.

What I like and dislike about this bike.

I have lots to say about the specialized diverge E5 base. This bike is the cheapest in the gravel lineup but is very good compared to other bikes. The bike is very light. The only problems I have had was with the shifting it tends to miss shift sometimes also when I am riding the gear changes randomly. I think I am going to give it some time to break in then I will take it in for a tune up/adjustment. Overall this bike is amazing. I personally think that the benefits of this bike outweigh the shifting problems I have had. TOTALY RECCOMEND.
