All-out speed has always been the Demo’s target, and with the Demo Race it’s no different. Introducing a new flexible wheel-size frame design that allows riders to take advantage of a 29-inch front wheel and a 27.5-inch rear wheel, it’s a special blend that’s long been tested by World Champ Loïc Bruni looking for the perfect balance of traction and maneuverability, but only just green-lighted by the UCI this past year. Not that it stopped the Demo Race from racking up both the Downhill World Championship and overall World Cup titles in it’s very first season...

Now, we’re offering that same winning combination straight out of the box, while an adjustable rear end that still allows you to change between 27.5 and 29-inch wheel sizes based on terrain and riding style while also adjusting for proper chainstay length and bottom-bracket height.

Blazing fast on tough tracks, the Demo Race suspension design has been developed around a more rearward axle path that reduces rear wheel hang-up, increasing speed instead.

Top-shelf suspension from Öhlins takes advantage of the most proven suspension kinematics on the World Cup circuit and SRAM’s DH-specific XO1 drivetrain has you covered from start gate to finish line.

  • The Demo Race M5 alloy frame is fully optimized to take advantage of the traction benefits of a 29-inch front wheel and the increased manueverability of a 27.5-inch rear wheel while maintaiining the ability to change your rear wheel size to suit different terrain and riding styles with an adjustable rear end that ensures chainstay length and bottom-bracket height stay dialed no matter the hoop size.

  • The Öhlins TTX 22 M coil shock is designed to handle the most challenging World Cup Downhill tracks, offering external low speed compression and rebound adjustment while the Trunnion mount offers extra bushing overlap for increased durability.

  • With superb small bump tracking and the ability to soak up landings from even the heftiest drop-off, the Öhlins DH38 m.1 fork’s 200-millimeters of travel will give you smoother, faster, and more confident feeling runs than anything you’ve ridden before.

Remarkably good

The frame is well built and offers excellent ground clearance. The only mechanical issue I've experienced is a bit of creaking from the rear suspension pivots. Re-tightening them to specified torque helped alleviate the issue to some degree. The rear suspension is truly fantastic - perfect progressivity for an intermediate rider, handles washboard brake bumps better than I thought possible, and it pedals surprisingly well. The Ohlins DH38 m.1 fork is amazing - I love how accurately and easily the progressivity can be adjusted via the lower air chamber. Damping front and rear, both in terms of quality, and adjustability, is the best I've tried on any suspension from the other big two manufacturers so far. Component choice overall is pretty good, except for the inexplicable choice of Magura 8.S "Sport Compound" brake pads and E-bike rated MDR-C rotors that are overly heavy and look goofy (imo). I replaced the pads with Loic Bruni approved 8.P pads and Storm HC rotors immediately.

Rips

The bike rips everything. Alloy for life :) the frame feels very light when you start to get the wheels rolling. The geometry (S4, I'm 185 cm tall) feels perfect and easy to handle. The thing that I noticed is that you can use this dh bike very well on normal trails, except for big climbs. You probably need a custom coil spring, so keep that in mind. Also, the bike gets muddy pretty quickly because there are a lot of links around the shock absorber, so a mudguard is essential. The only thing I have to complain about are the small tires, rims and rear spacing, which make the bike really more playful, but it costs stability and grip, otherwise, with a well suspension setup, the bike feels poppy and cooperate on jump trails.

Demo Race Mullet Review

I recently bought a Demo Race in Size 4. I have been impressed by its descending ability and versatility. I was expecting this bike to rip fast tracks but it surprised me how much composure it maintained on the tighter tracks. The shorter chain-stay and reaches make the bike maintain a sense of playfulness while the slack head tube angle provides confidence on the steepest of chutes. Sadly it is not only sunshine the Magura MT7 brakes specked on the bike are not up to the task of downhill riding. The power and modulation are good. but the material choice resulted in massive failure of both levers. Before my first ride, the right lever broke letting the lever blade swing out. after my second ride, this happed to my left lever as well. This is disappointing to have such a failure on a bike of this caliper. In conclusion I love this bike and would happily buy it again except for the brakes.
