Consider Vado your high-performance transportation bike, getting you where you’re going with an unmatched combination of speed, reliability, and confidence. Whether you load it up with your stuff, or jump on and go, commute to work, or ride to the gym, Vado’s full power and huge range will get you from ‘point A’ to ‘point B’ ASAP.

The Specialized Vado has everything you need for e-powered transport. It brings a balanced nature to the way it handles and superior levels of comfort. This is a true class leader of its type.

TURBO: The heart of the Vado is its Turbo technology, an advanced and integrated electric bike system that delivers an unequaled combination of power, natural feel, anti-theft functions, training tips, and a full-function bike computer.

POWERFUL: It’s you, just faster — it’s 4x You. The Turbo Full Power system senses the force you apply to the pedals and naturally quadruples it for an experience that makes getting up any hill or to any destination no sweat. Literally.

COMFORTABLE AND CONFIDENT: Body position and handling are optimized to deliver unsurpassed riding comfort, confidence, and control. Powerful hydraulic disc brakes reign in your speed, while larger tires provide maximum traction for turning and stopping.

SMOOTH: Stay comfortable in the saddle with an 80mm front suspension fork, higher volume tires, and a plush suspension seat post that smooths harsh bumps from points A to B.

SECURE: Vado has anti-theft lock built right into the bike. Prevent would-be bike thieves by disabling the motor with a press of a button so no one can turn on the motor without your phone connected to the Specialized app or your personalized pin. The Vado’s battery locks in the bike or can be easily taken with you. And if anyone tries to move your bike an alarm will sound. Beat it, thieves.

The speed limit at which the motor will stop supporting may vary significantly by region and is based on local requirements. It may also affect range: a higher speed limit may result in less range.

  • Turbo Full Power 2.0 motor and 710Wh battery offer an unparalleled riding experience, providing a smooth, seamless, and shockingly quiet amplification of your efforts, up to 28 mph. The integrated controller responds to your pedal inputs resulting in intuitive amplification of your efforts with an incredibly natural feel.

  • MasterMind and Specialized app - The MasterMind display reveals all relevant info about your ride and allows real-time tuning of support levels. MasterMind seamlessly integrates with the Specialized app for range optimization tools, advanced tuning, on-ride diagnostics, and more.

  • Proven Smooth Efficiency - We designed a custom testing mechanism to analyze bumps at even the smallest frequency to increase comfort and vision. That precision, paired with a suspended seatpost, higher volume tires, and an 80 mm suspension fork, will flatten roads before your eyes.

  • Turbo System Lock - Use the Specialized app to disable your bike’s motor and activate the motion sensor alarm. Once locked, the motor cannot be enabled again except by the owner.

  • Fully Integrated Removable and Lockable Downtube Battery - Easy to charge, easy to secure.

  • Equipped with DRYTECH Fenders, LED front and rear lights, and 27kg capacity rear HD Rack. The rear rack is compatible with child bike seats, and the bike is also rated to pull a thru-axle trailer.

  • Long-Range - With a ride-anywhere range, go up to 90 miles (145 km) or 6.5 hours on a single charge (eco mode).

Very high quality

This is a very well built bike, Its also really heavy with the battery, As others mentioned, you may struggle getting up more than 1 step, if that. Personally I find this bike a bit slow if you are used to the 500w hub drive motors from cheaper brands, or bikes with a throttle. If you want to get a lot of performance out of the motor (i. e 400w+) you need to really keep thinking about what gear you are in and your cadence. I do find that I have to shift gear whenever coming to a stop to be ready to set off again with assist, and if I didn't its not easy to get started again given the bikes weight.

Motor Error

Ordered a new Turbo Vado 4.0 and it’s defective right out of the box. Took it to LBS and they were unable to resolve the issue. In the process of returning bike now for a full refund. Unacceptable that a $4K does not work properly right out of the box and brand new.

Super Commuter

I purchased the Turbo Vado 4.0 about 3 months ago for a 10 mile commute to work and I love it. I traded ~20 minutes in a car for ~30 minutes on a bike. I am fitter and happier. The Vado is a pleasure to ride, comfortable and very solid at speed. I could not be happier with my choice.

Excellent!

Been riding my Vado 4 around Steamboat, CO for 3 summers. Wasn't exactly sure how I'd use it at first but the geometry and comfort mean it's adaptable for nearly anything. Using it daily for of riding around town and errands, plus the occasional 30-mile gravel ride. The bike is comfortable and has performed flawlessly the entire time, over 2,500 miles, still going strong. Range 40 miles in Eco mode. No issues. I do not ride in the rain and so had dealer remove fenders as they rattled. Quieter now, and better looking without them. Note removing fenders means no rear rack, or rear light. I've added a seat post rear light, and an integral bike lock for quick shopping stops. I recommend the Vado 4 as a reliable, adaptable e-bike for many varied uses.

Absolutely worth it

Extremely happy with the bike. It's comfortable, well designed, and incredibly capable. Flat out with full assist, I can keep up with traffic on 30 mph roads. The battery drains quicker than I had assumed but I'm not going on long trips so it's not an issue. Love the integrated headlamp/built in rear rack. I appreciate being able to run preset power modes or incrementally adjust power for finer tuning. Very ideal for commuting and grocery runs.

Excellent Bike

I purchased the Turbo Vado 4.0. one month ago. I am 5'9," weight approximately 168 lbs and bought the large frame. I have approximately 375 miles on it and it rides amazingly well. After group riding with a carbon road bike (approximately 17 lbs) for 11+ years, my biggest adjustment was with the weight (56 lbs), but after you ride it for a while and grow to appreciate the smoothness, power, quality build of the bike and the exceptional monitoring system of the bike (it has a color screen and a multitude of features), the weight becomes a none issue. I did an extensive amount of research, looking at comparable bikes at Trek, Canyon, Cannondale, Aventon and others, before settling on this one with Specialized. Whether you are using it for commuting, minimal off-roading, pleasure riding or even riding with a group, you will not regret purchasing this ebike.

After a month

I have a short 6+ mile punchy (short steep hill) commute. I bought it to ease my commute effort and make the times more consistent. ***** Online order - It arrived ahead of schedule. *** Shifting - I am still getting used to shifting with power, so my shifting is rough to say the least. It isn't so pronounced on the flats. I would have liked to try the IHG option. ***** Fenders - The fenders are spectacular. They keep the water near the ground and away from my feet. ** Heavy - And not in the 1980's way. This is not a bike that you are going to want to be lifting often. If I were going to buy again today, I might choose the LT version. **** Lights - They are nice and bright, although the front casts a huge front wheel shadow on the road and would be better mounted higher up. **** Over all the bike is a solid ride..

Quite A Bike

My gen 2 Vado 4.0 is fun to ride on all the trails Fort Collins has to offer. I’ve owned my 2022 Vado since July of 2023. My only negative comment would concern the production tires. In 300 miles I’ve had two flat tires. I believe that the problem was that they are not up to real world riding here in Colorado. I’ve since changed to Specialized Armadillo tires and thorn resistant tubes and have had no further problems thus far.

Weak mounts on motor. Company will not stand behind their product

I originally purchased a Como Dec 2019 in 6 months motor mount broke Company replaced but I upgraded to Vado 3.0 and paid difference, a year later the battery failed replaced under warranty again very satisfied 6 months later motor failed again covered under warranty, two years 2 months later motor mount again failed this time due to being 2 months out of warranty I must pay to have motor replaced (not cheap). I would expect at the price to at least get 5 years. I love my bike, I do commute 40 miles a day 4 days a week and the bike handles beautiful, I just think this should be covered under warranty. The motor problems are common if you look at a couple blogs on-line and that's just the people that follow I'm sure there are many people with broken motors that either stop riding or pay the ridiculous price to have the motor replaced. I will pay the price and have the motor replaced but specialized has really put a bad taste in my mouth. Just my 2 cents happy riding.

Very dissapointed

The day I test rode my Turbo Vado I was elated! As advertised... "You only faster." In the first month, I noticed that the contribution of power was becoming spotty and on occasions, the system shut down mid-ride. I was able to fire it up without interruption but it was annoying. I was told upon purchase to expect 40+ miles peer charge. I would ride from full charge to less than 7% and was lucky to get 27 miles. I tired all sorts of variations but it did not matter, about the same battery life. Finally the power cut out and could not be turned back riding home over a rather hilly course. I took it to the bike shop and they could not replicate the problem. I tried again and same outcome. The problem came about after about 30 minutes, then came at shorter time intervals. The guys at my bike shop are great! They processed a warranty claim and Specialized is going to replace the bike. I hope that the replacement will be as reliable as the performance that is advertised.

Amazing car replacement

Reliability has been incredible, almost unheard of. At 9300km, half of that in winter, I finally need to replace the original drivetrain. The motor is powering along like it was new. This bike has more than paid for itself in 13 months of ownership. I have the tiniest issue with the front plastic mudflap which broke off after blowing through too many snow drifts below -20C (when the plastic is brittle). I have done almost no maintenance. Replaced brake pads with metal pads, lube chain with wax, wash off excess salt occasionally in winter, and that's it.

The Best

I'm in my early 30s, and I've owned a red 2022 Turbo Vado 4.0 EQ for almost 2 years, and it has been incredible. I can't stop riding it. It's really the king of the bike trails. You will have no trouble passing anybody. Often serious cyclists will try to keep up with me, and slipstream. Total strangers. It's happened several times. Many don't realize I've got the electric assist, lol. This bike is great because it's Class 3, battery is huge, range is great, brakes are strong, tires have lasted over 3,000 miles, it's reliable, has app support, and local bike shops can service it! It's basically perfect. As battery tech evolves, range will increase, and weight will go down. I've incorporated it into my cardio workout routine, and along with a trainer, and dieting, I've lost 35 pounds in 6 months. Usually I will get sore in the saddle area before the bike runs out of power, range is not an issue. Currently the bike is on sale for almost $1k off, that's a great deal. Buy now.

Great Bike, Not Durable

Wish I went with the Tero X. I ride this bike daily (sun, rain, snow) and it's not holding up well. Many parts are broken or have fallen off. Love the ride overall but it's not very durable/practical if you're daily riding it.

Too good to own!

It's great! It's attention-grabbing! However, we live in a practical world! To truly qualify as a city bike, it should come equipped with a built-in tracker, loud alarms, and various anti-theft technologies. Unless it's intended solely for leisurely rides within a garden.

A wonderful do it all bike!

I bought my Turbo Vado 4.0 about 8 months ago, and it's now my go-to bike for city rides and logging roads. I biased it toward gravel riding with knobby tires, a thud buster seat post, and a 4O tooth chain ring and it works great for doing climbs up to 3000 feet with my old legs. Still works great in the city outfitted this way too. This is my first e- bike, and I'm very pleased with the wide range of riding conditions it handles with aplomb. I did experience a failure of the first motor, but that was quickly replaced under warranty and the bike has been trouble free since.

Car replacer and adventure bike all in one

My favorite E-Bike, and I own 3. I got my Vado 4.0 about 2 years ago, and between commuting and exercising have put about 1500 miles on it. For commuting to work, I have two panniers: one with my laptop and change of clothes, the other with tools/emergency kit/lunch. I'm about 250lbs, and loaded down for the work commute, the bike is about 275lbs. With the bike loaded down like this, I can commute the 25 miles (roundtrip) to work on Sport mode and arrive in decent condition (after changing clothes of course) with between 70-80% battery remaining (depends on headwinds, and how fast I want to push up the 2 mile 10-15% hill). For exercise, it's like any pedal-assist bike; think of it as a stationary bike you can take outdoors where you can adjust the difficulty level to get your heart rate into the right zone for your goals. You'll have the boost you need to get out of dangerous situations in traffic too.

Great, reliable road bike

My wife purchased the Vado 4.0 on January 10, 2020 for my birthday. I now have over 13,000 miles on it. Last year alone, I put 5,000 miles on the bike and I live in Utah which has a lot of cold weather. After 13,000 miles, I changed the chain and cassette for the first time. Other than 5 or 6 flat tires, I have had no other mechanical problems with the bike. I have rarely had any other product that has held up as well as this bike. Besides being a well-designed product, this bike is about as reliable as you can get. I have yet to replace the battery. I have never been as satisfied with any product I have purchased, including several other bikes, as I am with my Specialized bike.

not the mileage you expect

93 miles / 150 km of range, and more. quoted from specialized site. it'll never get 93 miles even in economy power. you might get a bit more than half that miles it may update software, i've never seen it in a year but if you need the firmware updated you have to take it to a specialized shop. that said it rides well and for me fits better than any bike i've had. i would like to see another sprocket up front or different gearing to really bring it up to it's potential

Vado 4

Picked up a Vado 4 yesterday after a test ride. Used it for a 15km commute this morning. Mostly in eco and that provided enough support even on mild inclines. The fit and comfort of the bike is outstanding. The 70nm motor is powerful and quiet. You must get used to letting the power off when gear changing, when you do the change is quick and precise. Can’t wait to ride home and start tuning with the app. Vado wasn’t the lowest cost option but i guess you get what you pay for.

My Rocket Ship

I've got 2,200 miles on my Vado since July 2022. I use it for my daily commute over two hills to college. The bike is solid and I have had zero issues. The battery has kept up more than expected after the mileage I racked up; I don't really see much of a difference for battery life loss from when I first started riding it. Best bike ever, IMO.

Can't stop riding this Bike

This is day number 4 since purchasing this bike. 124.73 and counting. So far so good. I was wowed by the Smart capability using the Mission Control app. It uses preset values to improve performance. What a great feature. I am still learning the system and I am hopeful iWatch will be available in the near future. Battery consumption is a major measurement as you can only go X amount of miles. So far 40 miles appears to be the max. I will be looking for another battery in about 24 months at the rate I am using this bike. I am on charge 4 out of 300 charges. I will be purchasing an extender battery soon. But I can live with that, as it is improving my fitness/heath and reenergize my biking experience. The only drawback is weight, 55lbs. In manual/off mode, you can feel the weight. I usually do off mode going down hills to conserve the battery power. Overall, it is a fast bike, I have max out at 29.9mph with an average speed of 16.8. I would recommend this bike.

Great Bike

I have owned this Vado 4.0 for about 4 months. I have had lots of bikes and this is by far the most fun bike I have ever owned. Someone asked me how it compares to my other bikes I have owned. I tell them this, its like owning a really nice luxary car. It handles so perfectly. It rides like a dream. The balance of this bike is unbelievable. The power assist on this E Bike is easy and simple to use. You decide how much assist you want. Maybe you don't want any for part of your ride. But then maybe you want to put it into Sport or Turbo to help you up that hill and you have a slight headwind. What a dream this truly is. You just have to demo one for a few hours to understand what I am talking about. Specialized knocked this one out of the park. Thanks Specialized. Keep up the great work!!
