A great bike with thousands of KM to prove it!

I purchased my Sirrus X 2.0 in Dec 2020 and have never looked back. I cycle heavily (over 6,600km covered between Dec '20 and Nov '22). Whether on-road or off-road, I haven't had any issues. I clean it often, including the chain and cassette, but it has had full services along the way. Mudguards were installed, however, they are not an easy clip-and-play...they took hours to put on! Highly recommend the bike for daily commuting and longer rides.

Awesome platform

After riding a mountain bike for the wrong application (city/gravel trails), this is like getting a super car. It is incredibly lightweight, agile, and quick. I feel like i can really push myself on this bike without getting fatigued from over pedaling, like you would on a mountain bike. The hydraulic brakes are super responsive, and noiseless after a proper bed in. My favorite feature are the hybrid tires. They have little rolling resistance on pavement, and the bite you need on gravel. I would recommend this bike to anyone looking to commute to work, or just something that isn't quite road/mountain but more of an in between. If only cities would accommodate those of us that want to bike more, as most places have limited dedicated areas. Hopefully that will change one day.

Beautiful looking bike

The bike is aesthetically correct and the colour is an unusual dusty turquoise. It is comfortable and at first it was much faster. Unfortunately it has suffered the same chain issues and that has damages the chain guard and chipped the paintwork. Bike still looks great but it will cost me to repair or replace the faulty parts. Disc brakes are awesome though.

Chain and gears update

I wrote a review about how the chain and gears are useless on this otherwise great bike. When I took it back to ship the first time, they just adjusted the derailleur, which only helped for a couple of days. I took it back a second time... they found the real problem, which was the rear wheel cogs not being properly aligned and tightened... they fixed this and the bike has been a dream since... doesn't slip gears, chain hasn't come off.... so if you experience this problem with the bike I recommend getting your retailer to look specifically at this.

Reliable bike

I’ve had this bike for a yr now and only cover @ 50miles a wk on it – road & baths. Use it for work and it’s never let me down. Lovely ride, smooth gears and braking v.good. The only issues I’ve had are the peddles, one sheered off while on the bike!! And the bearings around the peddles are creaking so need to change them. Purchased from Bristol, good service. Other than that, I love the bike as do my sons!!

Chain issue and gear issue

When I first got the bike, the chain would fall off constantly and I would have problems changing the gear. I had to bring it back to the shop several times before the issue was resolved. Now, I don't have the chain problem, however, the gears don't change as smooth as I would want it to be. Sometimes it is stuck in one gear before it changes.

Love this bike! (After mods)

So I purchased my Sirrus X 2.0 in June of 2020, and I’ve been riding it every other day since! Comfortable ride position, great handling, lightweight hybrid with bigger tires for the trails, strong disc brakes, and clean styling. Yes, I experienced the chain coming off the front as you accelerated and it was frustrating. But the great service crew at Roseville Cyclery were able to obtain a rear derailleur with a clutch from Specialized that fixed the problem. I can ride it anywhere now and the chain stays on. This bike can’t be a better value at its price point. Most of all, it’s just fun to ride!

Nice bike, but same chain issues

I thought it was just me or that my bike had a problem with the chain for some reason as it has come off about half a dozen times in the past month since I bought it, but then I thought I would check the reviews here and whaddaya know - many people have had the same issue! I had hoped that the shop I bought the bike from could fix it (they tried but failed) but now I see that may not be possible. I also have some issues changing gears mainly from 3rd to 2nd where it often will not go into gear. Annoying but manageable. Other than this, I really like the bike - it looks great, rides well.

Great bike but qc might be an issue

Bought this 1 month ago and I've had to take it in to get tuned every weekend since. The katest issue is a bent hanger and an issue with the wheel that caused the cassette to become loose. If the bike would just shift smoothly for more than 10 miles at a time I would love it.

2020 no issues

Put well over 1k miles on my x 2.0 now. Chain has never fallen off, a few mis-shifts here and there but nothing unexpected. I beat the ever loving crap out of this bike and haven’t done any maintenance to it. Still rides great. Hard to beat this bike for your normie cyclist; light frame, no cabling, and disk brakes for that price is damn good. Used this bike almost daily for two years, love it.

Great bike but….

This is close to the perfect bike for me but… The 2.0x is my fourth Specialized bike. Unfortunately, I am really experiencing a problem with the chain coming off the sprocket plus a problem with the derailed not working properly between 2nd and 3rd gear. I have taken it in to have it adjusted twice but the problem continues. I am kind of wishing I bought the Rockhopper I originally ordered. I was convinced to buy a 2.0x instead and I still believe it is a good bike for me if there is someway to get it so the chain stays on and the derailer works. Do bikes ever have recalls to fix know issues??.

Amazing Bike, have the 2020 model and have absolutely no issues.

I see many other complaints about the chain falling off, but I've never had this happen to me. I have around 300 miles on this bike and haven't had a problem yet. Amazing bike for the price.

Chain dropper

Not suitable for gravel roads as chain drops from front sprocket even at slightest bump on the road. No chain guide as standard. 2020 model

Should have been part of recall

Amazing beginner big bike with awesome geometry. Super easy to ride, but as a lot of other comments say, the chain would fall off and it never shifted correctly. I was scared to stand up and ride because sometimes the shift was delayed, even after taking it in for work. I emailed a detailed letter to Specialized a long time ago that got no response. Spent over $600 on a new drivetrain. Yeah, I upgraded as I was doing it, but it was just unbelievable that the 2.0 was not part of the 2020 Sirrus recall. Still giving 4 stars because I don't want to hurt its reputation any further because it really is a great bike. Also the trigger shifter should have been thumb actuated only, triggers take your finger off the brake.

Love it!

I purchased this bike last summer for riding long distances and on trails, and I personally love it! I haven't had any issues with the chain so far like other people have, and I use my bike fairly often on uneven ground The gear changes could be smoother, but nothing to overly complain about. They're just a tad clunky sometimes.

Love the bike; hate the chain.

I ride on gravel 90% of the time and this bike is perfect for it... except the chain keeps dropping off the front chain ring. Almost always in high gear and going down hill. Either too much speed or too much jiggling and the chain comes off. Please Specialized, issue a maintenance bulletin or recall for a fix.

Fun in every day use!

I bought this bike for everyday use. It is comfortable on tarmac and on gravel. It gives you confidence. There is the problem of course with the chain and for that reason i don't give the 5 stars.

Ok but chain falls off!

I bought this for a commuter to ride to work which is around 15km and mostly paved/ gravel roads with a couple of bumps. The bike is good but as others have said. The chain falls off a lot which is extremely annoying!

I love this bike!!!

I ride this bike for leisure, it is my first properly used adult bike and I am so pleased with it. I've been riding it 2-3 times a week in mostly dry conditions, up to 12 mile rides on paved lanes and roads, occasionally on gravel paths and through fields. It's performed so well everywhere I ride it. It feels stable and safe, it gives me a lot of confidence as someone who is new to cycling with traffic. As in two other reviews, the chain comes off, usually when I am doing lots of shifting gears. As I have improved as a rider and my gear shifts have become smoother and less erratic, I find this issue less, with the chain having stayed on entirely for my most recent rides. It was a safety issue for me at one point though: my chain slipped off as I was doing my first ever big roundabout and I'm lucky I was able to make it out safely (my exit was downhill, I rolled and prayed). If it wasn't for this chain issue, the bike would be perfect. As it is, it's still easily 5 stars ! I love this bike!!!

Great but let down by drivechain

Like another reviewer commented the chain drops too easily and for various reasons and on various terrain. I've taken to workshop to be adjusted and tinkered myself but i get chain drops (probably 2 per 30 km) so on a 100km+ ride its pretty annoying. I'm still thinking about what to replace the chainset with my hope is that its just the chainring. Other than this the bike is great. Most my riding is gravel, but i've been over some trails and the bike handles itself ok given its not a mountain bike.

Awesome Trail/Gravel Bike

I already had a Sirrus (2018) version which I love, but I wanted something that is a little more stable on gravel and a little off-road. So I went with a Trek Marlin 5. I guess I wasn't too excited about it because it was a Medium-Large and I'm more of a Large but I wanted to give it a try since I've never owned a Non-Bigbox ""Mountain"" Bike. On my local trails it handled great but it was WAY too sluggish, bulky and slow. I didn't really have an interest in doing real down-hill mountain biking so I returned it. Then I was looking at my local bike shop's inventory and saw this beautiful Sirrus X 2.0! What caught my eye was the 1x Drivetrain, Hydaulic breaks and awesome blue/green matte finish, as well as these EPIC tires. If I am nitpicking, the grips are not as comfortable as my older Sirrus grips (Body Geometry) but that's a quick and easy adjustment. Everything else is awesome! I'm attracted to the gravel bike asthetic but can't afford a real gravel bike...yet. This Sirrus X 2.0 is the best Bike I have ever owned. I wish I could buy one for my whole family! It's that good!

Amazing quality and stylish!

This is my first ""big girl"" bike and I am obsessed. Coming from someone who doesn't know much about bikes, my husband has a Specialized and told me he was buying me a bike for my birthday. We went to pick one out and our local store had NOTHING in stock (which I mean hey, good for them). The sales rep told us about an incoming shipment and it was the Sirrus X 2.0 or the regular 2.0. I ended up with the X because of the color options (I got the Dusty Turquoise). We picked it up yesterday and immediately went on a ride. It was half paved/half dirt and the bike was AMAZING. So smooth even with no suspension, amazing handling and braking, flawless gear shifting.

Great fitness bike

Since I hadn't had a bike for about 20 years, I did a lot of research and eventually bought the Sirrus X 2.0. I wanted a bike for fitness training and leisure riding (on quiet roads and paths) with my children. I'm 6' 0"" so I ordered the large size; this is fine, but it is almost too large. Considering that this size is supposed to fit people from 5'9"" upwards, I would pick a smaller size if I was 5'9"" to 5'11"". The standover height is quite high. I specifically wanted a 1x bike as it would be simpler to maintain and less to go wrong; but there are few fitness/hybrid bikes that fit this requirement. 8 gears are plenty and there are no massive jumps between them; more gears would just mean thinner (less robust) sprockets and a thinner (less robust) chain. The 8 sprockets on the cassette are also steel, so this is a very robust bike. The MicroShift components work perfectly. I didn't want an aluminium fork since the ride is supposed to be not great and carbon is less robust. So while a steel fork is the heaviest, it does have some advantages. Also, I didn't want a front suspension as this would be heavier and would require more maintenance. For my intended purpose, a rigid fork was more appropriate, especially with high volume tyres. The consequence of this robustness is that the large size is 13.0 kg. There is a price for the robustness. The Flo Red colour is very nice and safe; I wish the Specialized Echelon II MIPS helmet was available in the same colour.

Highly recommended

I just sold my Avanti mountain bike which had front suspension and was a bit heavy. This one is perfect, could be a bit lighter but overall feels like the bearings roll better, the disk breaks are a bit loud when you break, the Avanti didn't have that problem.

Great bike

I use this bike mainly for trails (paved and some gravel). It has no issues so far and rides great, pretty comfortable once you get the seat adjusted to your sit bones. I would recommend getting the 2.0 over the 3.0 unless you really need an extra gear, but even then upgrade to the 4.0 to get carbon and future shock. It rides very smoothly, shifts are great, and brakes work perfectly.

2.0 is enough unless you're going 4.0 or higher

I was actually going to get the 3.0 but they had a 2.0 at my local bike store in stock in my size it's an 8-speed instead of a 9-speed but easily upgradeable. So far the brakes are good I'm coming from a 2012 Crux comp Apex.
