Freedom is the absence of fear. And riding fearlessly requires a bike that can handle your kid’s imagination. It’s why we designed Riprock to be a mountain bike inclusive of all the features needed for superior ripping, like modern geometry, Ground Control tires, hydraulic disc brakes, internally routed cables, and top-of-the-line suspension. Finally, we threw in a wider-range drivetrain, making Riprock truly the perfect bike to inspire riders to climb higher and tackle the downhills freely.

Kids can’t ride confidently if they’re not riding comfortably. With Riprock, fit comes first. This meant using data to reimagine everything from how they grip to how they sit to create a bike specifically and proportionally for kids. We did all this because comfort creates confidence. And more confidence always leads to more riding fearlessly.

  • Kids’ specific updates and features create a ride that inspires confidence. A 130mm Bridge saddle, as well as a narrower Q factor and shorter cranks, offer improved alignment between the hip, knee, and ankle to decrease the risk of injury and increase pedal power. Narrow grips and updated frame geometry offer improved bike handling, inspiring riders to ride more.

  • A lightweight package, complete with an updated frame and a wide-range 11-speed SRAM NX drivetrain, creates the perfect bike to allow riders to easily tackle climbs.

  • Trail riding starts here. Inspired by Specialized’s heritage in making mountain bikes, the Riprock offers modern MTB features such as a slack head tube angle, internally routed cables, hydraulic SRAM Level disc brakes, tubeless-ready Ground Control tires, and a Manitou J-Unit 100mm fork.

Sick Bike for Little Shredders

I bought this bike for my 9-year old, after he hit the point of his skills far outweighing a normal kids' bike and the point at which he'd grown large enough to need one. The bike itself is a rock-solid little beast and he's been out tearing it up since we bought it for him. The only issue we had is a loose rivnut (bottle cage bolt) and the frame isn't quite big enough to accommodate a rivnut setter tool. We'll be addressing that in the off-season. It's a minor thing and it didn't outweigh Sam's love of the bike. Great, durable build combined with a thoughtful (but not overdone) parts group. The only true downside is that he's asking for a set of carbon wheels for Christmas!

Great bike for my 7 y/o son

My 7 y/o son had the Riprock and loved it so much /did so well on it that he wanted the Expert after 3 months. The Expert has been the perfect upgrade and he loves to ride this bike. The geometry has helped him have fun and ride aggressively, safely.

This bike is just awesome. The stand-out features are without a doubt the fork, the brakes, and the drivetrain components. The Manitou J-Unit is tuneable (air spring, rebound, compression), and very responsive. It's burly enough to work well, but isn't soo big as to add unnecessary weight or travel. The SRAM Level brakes are very easy to use for kids- the first thing my daughter mentioned was how much easier it was to brake better on her new bike. The SRAM NX drivetrain (shifters, derailer, cassette) is butter-smooth, reliable, and very easy to shift. The KMC chain works well with this group and seems to shift as smoothly as my full XO drivetrain. The bike is just a great package, and very kid friendly. My daughter (and several other kids) use this bike on the local MTB devo team, and for a very good reason.

Bought this bike for my

Bought this bike for my 9yo son who was upgrading from the Specialized Hot Rock. It fits him perfect and it is light years ahead with hydraulic disc brakes, lighter feel, and even better build quality. I know that there is an excellent bike underneath him when we hit the local trails. I had the bike delivered to local bike shop and it received set up/tune up for 50 bucks. Well worth it and I got to meet my local bike shop since I am new to town.

Stellar Mountain Bike for kids that are serious about Cross-Country, or just want a great all-around bike.

9 year old daughter started riding XC 2 years ago, during 3 week MTB camp. Needed a bike during the pandemic; a Trek Wahoo 24. Light, but rigid, with no suspension front or rear, only an 8 speed, so not geared for hills, but at 21.5 lbs., it was light. 2 years on, she's expert. Loves climbs, hates descents; stock tires on the Wahoo were not suited to off-road. Lack of front suspension was a problem, numb hands, miserable on descents, time for a new bike. Hello Riprock Expert 24! Has great components; 11 speeds, correct Q factor, disk brakes, good front fork. Stock, weighed 26 lbs, not too bad, but can be improved. Replaced stock tires/tubes, went tubeless with Schwalbe Rocket Rons, saving 1.1 lbs. Carbon Fiber handlebars, seatpost, Stamp Brothers Stamp 1 pedals in small. Bike now 22 lbs., 6 ounces!. Total investment for parts, $162.91; lighter and better than most boutique bikes from $2,000 - $4,000+ 100% recommend the Riprock, fantastic and an insane bargain for the price.

The Specialized Riprock Expert 24

The Specialized Riprock Expert 24 has been a game-changer for our 8 year old daughter, who had previously been on an "older" Riprock 20". The longer wheelbase, larger wheels, air fork and more aggressive geometry have given her the confidence to hit more features on the trail. The SRAM NX 11-speed drive system allows her to be able to climb and keep up with us better, and the hydraulic brakes are easier for her to pull and work better than the cable actuated ones. If your child is looking to feel more confident and progress, this is an amazing bike!

Love specialized products. we were super happy with how fast we got it, especially hearing that bikes are really hard to get in a timely manner, and also that we could get it shipped to our local retailer to be built and support them as well. Sweet bike for my 10 year old son.

Great Bike As is, premium upgrades specifics

muck off valves 44mm, 28 mm muck off tape Brood Cycles Cranks 145mm : drop the press fit and go through axle threaded BB INCLUDED. Use 3mm offset sram eagle (30/32t) with one spacer drive side, two spacers non-drive. Of course, anything on the drivetrain can be upgraded except the cassette because it’s not xd. Kids benefit from nicer shifters with better bearings and levers for weaker hands. Of course, dropper, your choice, brakes are ok, I upgraded to sram tlm for easier bleed and matchmaker and better levers for them.

Great bike for the young senders

This is definitely the best high end youth mountain bike at a fairly reasonable price range. The quality and durability is beyond what you would expect from a youth bike. I have 3 boys 3 years apart that will be riding this thing and I'm certain it will last for all 3

Perfect Advanced Youth Bike

This is finally a fantastic high end youth trail/racing bike! If you do nothing other than build it out of the box, it’s an awesome ride. BUT, we all know if you are dropping 1500 on a bike for your kid, they are probably good enough to benefit from tubeless and a dropper post, which are both possible. I used muck off valves 44mm, 28 mm muck off tape (it comes with vinyl rim strip) and it seated the first try. There was a very small leak from the rim weld that went away after I put 4 oz of Stan’s in it. Save the tubes. Dropper is super easy, hole in the right side of the frame, comes out the bottom under the BB and into a hole at the bottom rear of seat post. Race face shimano crank boots fit the cranks with a little whittling. Side load water bottle cage if you want to have that option. We can fuss about the external sealed bearing BB instead of threaded or press fit. If your kid can ride intermediate trails and is just gearing out, this is the upgrade for them.
