The All-New Turbo Levo

The new Turbo Levo Expert takes all of the "get gnarly" attributes of our newest trail bikes—like perfectly-tuned kinematics, a true Trail Geometry, and an optimally-stiff frame—and adds in cutting-edge tech, the likes of which the e-MTB world has never seen. We're talking a new custom motor, a higher-capacity battery, and much, much more.

The Turbo Levo is one of the lightest full-suspension e-mountain bikes to ever touch dirt. Much of the weight reduction is the result of what we learned while designing the latest Stumpjumper. The new Sidearm frame design, for instance, gives it an exceptional stiffness-to-weight ratio. Now, the bike is stiffer and has a lower-slung frame that's more capable on tough descents, even easier to maneuver in technical terrain, and uses less battery power. We've also lengthened the reach, kept the chainstays nice and short, slacked out the head angle, steepened the seat angle, and maintained a low center of gravity. You'll also find a new Flip Chip that lets you adjust the bottom bracket height and head angle in a matter of minutes. It's dialed.

We managed to increase battery capacity, meanwhile, by a staggering 40%. The bike now gets more distance out of every full charge, so there's no need to worry about getting caught on the trail without enough juice to get you home. The Smart Control feature, available with our Mission Control App, lets you set the power assist to last for either the duration of your ride or until you reach a point you've defined yourself. Battery status is now always on view with both the new Turbo Connect Unit and the optional handlebar-mounted Turbo Connect Display.

At the motor, we cut weight with a new magnesium-bodied Specialized 2.1 motor that amplifies your input by up to 410% with absolutely no awkward surges in power. Our engineers in Switzerland devoted years to making this a reality by creating custom software that drives the most cutting-edge motor in its class. And for the suspension, we redesigned it to give you even more control where you need it most. The initial travel is supple, but we added more mid-stroke support, so there's no wallowing about or blowing through your 150mm of suspension travel on big hits and drops.

This Turbo is also the smartest and best-connected e-MTB to date. Our Turbo Connect Unit is at the center of the top tube, and it connects the bike, via ANT+ and Bluetooth®, to both the outside world and the Turbo Connect Handlebar Display (available aftermarket). Speaking of which, the latest version of the Mission Control App now has more features and is simpler to use than ever before. It lets you easily custom-tune nearly every aspect of the bike, monitor your power use, control your range, perform basic system diagnoses, record and upload rides—there's even a new Shuttle Mode feature that takes the sting out of long climbs by giving you maximum motor support with less required effort at the pedals.

The Expert Carbon's components deliver high performance fun. Highlights here include a RockShox Pike RC29 fork and Deluxe RT3 rear shock, Roval Traverse 29 wheels cased in Butcher 2.6-inch tires, SRAM 11-speed shifting, and a FACT 9m carbon chassis with an M5 alloy rear-end.

  • The Turbo Levo frame is constructed with a FACT 9m carbon fiber chassis and an M5 Premium Aluminum rear-end, making it not only lightweight but also stiff and responsive. The design includes our 29 Trail Geometry that includes a low bottom bracket, lengthy top tube, and short chainstays. Kinematics of the frame have also been perfected, along with rider-tuned stiffness. Cable routing is all internal, including that of the Command Post IR, while the battery is fully integrated in the down tube, while the minimalist motor is mounted in a more secure, lighter way.

  • The custom Specialized 2.1 Rx Trail-tuned motor is more efficient, 15% smaller, and 11% lighter than its predecessor. This successfully places it at the top of e-bike motor technology. It has many other features that no other e-bike can touch, like instant engagement, fantastic heat management, a double freewheel design that disengages the gear box when you hit top speed, and silent, smooth, and consistent output—even at max power.

  • This Turbo’s new Specialized M2-series battery features a 700Wh capacity, providing you with 40% more capacity and range, and even more power to ride more trails. It, of course, still seamlessly integrated inside the frame and is easily removable, too.

TurboLevo Expert is perfect for riders approaching their 60s

WOW!!! Just bought two (2) Levo Experts - for my wife and I. We are approaching our 60s soon, and these bikes are transformative. We ride 25-30 miles every other day, and these are our first Electric Mountain Bikes...after suffering with hard non-suspension bikes for 3 decades. We ride for exercise, but now we can increase our aggressive riding and improve our longevity of rides with higher skills...while not having to ride through fatigue and old age injuries.

From 2018 Levo Comp to 2019 Levo Expert

I brought a 2018 Levo Comp 2 yrs ago, loved it, grabbed a 2019 Levo Expert this year and it rocks! At 63 years young this bike makes me able to ride like I was back in my 30's! A real game changer! I did not think the bike could be better than my first Levo but, I was wrong the 29 inch wheel set up is smoother and faster than the 27.5. The new motor and battery setup is a winner! Only modification I made was to put on tubeless DHF Minion 3C EXO on the front and a DHR II 3C EXO on the rear.

Fantastic

I bought this bike so that I could ride further and keep up with friends who don't carry a lot of extra weight. Been riding and racing for years, but this year, the hills are working the ole heart too much and had to quit mid race on one. Enter the Turbo Levo, I love this bike. Naturally, I will use it to set up races, but I won't be racing. And I can enjoy group rides. My exercise is more even, and I don't have to push it up hills. On top of all the practical reasons for this old man to have a mountain bike with a motor assist, this is super fun to ride, I can't stop smiling.

Excellent frame and motor, but components aren't that good.

I bought a 2019 turbo levo expert. I already had a 2017 version, but wanted a second one. I would have given this five stars except that the brakes and the tires are garbage. The specialized tires can't handle real riding. One of mine ripped right off of the bead, and I had a major blow out just by going over some roots. I also had to upgrade the shocks to Fox Factory. Aside from that, the motor is excellent, and the battery life is unbelievably good. The motor is also very strong.

By far the best pedal assist MTN bike on the market

Over the last 2 months I have had the pleasure of being able to ride the 2019 Carbon XL Turbo Levo. It has been a treat to say the least but more importantly a blessing in rehabilitating my extremely bad broken leg back to health. Since I have been off of the dirt bike, mountain biking on the pedal assist bike has been able to provide the training and hand eye coordination that motocross once did. This is one of the coolest times to get into mountain biking, and if you're already an avid biker then i'm sure the pedal assist movement just put so much life back into your mountain biking adventures. If I could give this bike a 10 star rating I would because it deserves it.

Unbelievable Bike. Never knew what I was missing.

Yes I admit I was one of those guys that thought Ebikes were cheating and a fad. Well I was so wrong. I went through countless demos rides and research to finally land with this beauty. When I am not hitting the trails and dirt and I am riding with my 3 kids and let me tell you nothing compares. SO fast and rides like a dream even on pavement. The tires and suspension just soak up the imperfections along with the carbon frame. This bike was very expensive for sure but imho nothing comes close. I am so picky and went back and forth so many times and kept coming back to this one. The biggest thing is when going slow with my kids etc or running errands on it sometimes I want no power. It pedals and feels like a normal bike with no resistance. Every other bike on the market especially the only other one I was considering had the Bosch which felt like a lead brick when there was no power assist. Just buy it and start enjoying it!!!

Can go where I want again!

I am in love with this bike! I stopped riding in the mountains, with an older body, and as someone who always had short legs as I got older, it was just too much for any major climbing. Now I can go where I want again on an amazing bike. Easy to ride, responsive and tons of fun. Thanks for the build!
