Our Stumpjumper ST models are snappy and nimble, yet Incredibly versatile—the perfect rigs for riders seeking both efficiency and capability. The Stumpjumper ST Alloy 29 makes that winning combo affordable, with components that are big on performance and small on dollar signs.

THE ULTIMATE TRAIL BIKE

The innovative sidearm frame design makes a lighter, better-handling bike. By directly connecting all three mounting points of the rear-end and shock to the frame, we’ve increased both stiffness and performance over bumps. End result? Total control.

PERFECTLY-BALANCED SUSPENSION

Our in-house suspension-tuning team develops custom shock tunes, perfectly paired to each bike’s kinematics. We call this Rx Tune and while it’s not the easy way to build a suspension bike, it’s worth it. You feel Rx Tune as perfectly-balanced suspension.

SMART PARTS PICK

• 29er wheels roll over obstacles and maintain your momentum with ease.

• 130-millimeters of suspension courtesy of a RockShox Recon RL fork.

• SX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain gives you single-ring simplicity and gearing to spare.

GREAT BIKE. WRONG BUILD

This bike rides amazingly. It is snappy and nimble, it rides like it has more travel than it actually does, climbs really well. It can handle pretty much anything that you throw at it. I have taken it down double black tech trails with no hindrance at all. All that is good, but what is not good is the build. Within having it for a month, I already was looking for a more progressive rear shock because the shock that came on it was the bare minimum. After that was endless shifting problems due the the poor quality of SRAM'S SX eagle. In the last 6 months I have gone on to upgrade every part on this bike other than the dropper. Kudos to transX. Overall this is a great frame but the wrong build. And I know that this is a beginner full sus, but it is not great to for a beginner due to the constant problems with the drivetrain. Either get the next level up, or a hard tail with good components such as the fuse expert.

Nice upgrade from 26""er

I've been riding mountain bikes for 25 years, starting with a '95 GT Timberline FS, to a '99 GF Joshua F3, to a '05 Jamis Dakar XC Pro, with each iteration bringing improvements. The Stumpjumper is no exception. I love the Hydraulic brakes, the wide stance of the handlebars and the huge wheels. I can climb and traverse roots and rocks which I never could (easily) before. The dropper post is also completely awesome, letting me get the seat down out of the way when I need to instead of putting my rear end out over the back tire. I always feel like I'm in control of the bike and haven't done an endo yet. I have ridden this bike every other day (at the least) and sometimes every day over the last four months and have not come across any issues with the rear tire spindle, as others have noted. Things I'm not super happy with: The handlebars are so wide that I have caught them on trees a few times and have gone down because of it a couple of times as well. I also seem to hit my pedals on terrain much more frequently than with any other bike, something that I'm adjusting my riding to in order to compensate for. Lastly, the bike seems to flex a little strangely when going over jumps. The shock is offset in the frame so I'm sure that geometry is causing the ""weirdness"". Oh, and yeah, it's a bit heavy with my large frame coming in at 36 lbs. These flaws are minor though compared to everything else. It's been a great bike so far, and I just serviced my forks which was also a breeze.

Excellent value for the price, very few flaws

this bike climbs well and is nimble and fun on the downhills. Its very well rounded and I enjoy myself and feel safe either riding on steep trails, rock gardens, even in the city the stumpy is great. FLAW: the rear axle of the bike comes loose after a few hours of riding which is disconcerning. I know others have experienced this but this is definitely not a deal breaker, just something to watch out for. I also experienced shaking/rattling of the outer protector of the frontal hub of the bike. nothing mechanically wrong but was annoying and never could fix. great bike for anybody getting into MTB or looking to improve and upgrade to a full suspension.

Great bike with a major flaw

GREAT: Build quality and looks - Overall solidity of the bike with probably the best cable routing out there is truly impressive. The closer you look, the more you appreciate the build. And overall, it's one of the best looking bikes out there with the asymmetrical design.  GOOD: Capability - First, the climbing ability on this is fantastic. It climbs so well and efficiently. This is also a bike that can swing higher than its (travel) weight class. It feels more capable and makes great use out of the 130mm front and 120mm rear travel. It can handle a lot, you need to exercise a bit more caution on bigger stuff and might need to mess with air pressures for bigger hits. OK: Spec - SX drivetrain is temperamental and needs to be adjusted often and the brakes are underpowered. But the fork and shock are excellent for this price point. Considering that this is a dealer brand, it's great value, but when compared to direct to customer, of course is lacking a little BAD: Geometry - So sad to say the geo on this is just poor. I mean, it's not even close to being progressive, and geo is the most important part of any bike. I had the 29 XL and its 470mm reach was way too short. I just couldn't get comfortable and kept getting pushed forward on descents. DO NOT get this bike if you're tall, the XL simply cannot accommodate you. Just for reference to how this compares - the Commencal Meta TR 29 has 465mm reach on the MEDIUM and its XL has 515mm reach which is around where an XL should be by today's terms. Sizing up might fix this, but I can't say for sure. SUMMARY: A high quality, very capable bike which is a fantastic value, but severely limited and let down by bland and primitive geometry.

Great Ride!! Viva La Stumpy!

I ordered this bike in august (the teal is really cool) before the 2020's had landed in the stores to replace my 26"" Gary Fisher Sugar Race XC bike that I've ridden since early 2000's. I wanted 29"" wheels and technology upgrades over my older kit. I'm still getting used to more weight, longer travel, larger tires, WIDE bars and longer geometry, but it's been a blast to ride & feels really solid yet pretty plush. Basically it's totally different than my XC Race bike. To a degree I'd have liked to have upgraded one more level on this bike to get a better components group as I'm already contemplating a fork replacement, mainly for weight reduction. The drivetrain is not as snappy as my 15 yr old Deore XT that I had on my Fisher but it's decent. I climbed some steep stuff this weekend and didn't bother locking the rear shock yet comfortably cranked up the hill w/ no real noticeable sag. I love the how the 29"" wheels roll over trail features with ease. Over all I love the bike and cannot get out to ride it enough.

Love Everything about this bike!

I just started riding but I tried many bikes before making my mind up on this particular model. Large is the best fit for my body at 5'9.5"", my height is in between for most bikes... and I was saved few times from big crashes due to more stability and control on this bike. This is literally the best value and most quiet bike that I hears so far. I hate noise so that is must

Best of the lower priced HIGH end bikes..

Use this bike on beginner and intermediate single tracks. Perfect for what i need it for. I am not a racer and don't plan on getting into the big technical type expert trails. The bike climbs very well and turns great. Makes riding fun.. The bike travels nicely over roots and rocks.. The 29-inch tires make it an easy roll. The drop seat makes all the difference!! The bike is on the heavy side but when you hammer on it you get good response. Good bike for those guys that want to get in and see what a nice bike is like.. If you like it then upgrade accordingly.

Its better than my other bikes

I got this bike cause i wanted full sus, and a dropper. i dont rememebre if i wanted 29"". I think that out of all teh stumpys this being the cheapest, you get what you paid for. I have had some shifter problems though. I would personally probably liked to have also tried it in 27.5"" but they didnt have it in the store and I kind off rushed getting it a little. the fact that this is an st means that 27.5"" might have been better for its ""snappy and nimble feel"" and cause it is a little lacking in sus. this being my first full sus its pretty good, but i already am wanting a bike with more sus and one that has a better weight to value. for example a heavier enduro than a litght xc would be worth its weight to get to the top cause it has dual piston and more sus and i would probably get that in 29"". but this bike is a little heavy and still alcking in sus so beware.

Bien
