The Diverge Comp has been designed to be a through-and-through exploration machine. It's equally adept at crushing dirt climbs as it is to cruising to the coffee shop or hopping into a local group ride. And while it might sound cliché in a landscape of bike claims chocked full with hyperbole, the Diverge Comp truly is one bike that does it all.

The Diverge is more capable than ever. And with the constant goal to best meet your needs, we took your number one request into account—tire clearance. The new frame will comfortably fit up to 700x42mm tires or 650b x 47mm tires. Along with tire clearance, weight was a large factor in the development, and taking some design cues from the development of the Roubaix, we developed a FACT 9r carbon frame that's one of the lightest in its category.

Next up, we moved away from a traditional 'cross geometry, instead opting for something that hasn't been seen before—our Open Road Geometry. You can think of it as a road version of modern trail bike geometry. It provides playful handling and predictable steering for endless dirt skids and mid-corner drifts. The geo features a bottom bracket that's over a half-centimeter lower than the previous Diverge, a slacked-out head tube angle, short chainstays, and a short wheelbase. These changes make for a bike that's not only fun in the dirt, but also performs well on the road.

And while riding gravel and dirt roads on a road bike may add to the adventure, there's only so much that wider tires with lower pressures can absorb, in terms of bumps. With this in mind, we implemented a new version of our Future Shock into the Diverge design. It not only soaks up bumps with ease, but also adds the benefit of extremely predictable handling. That's because the wheelbase isn't lengthening when you hit a bump, so the front end of the Diverge keeps the same effective head tube angle. In other words, when you dive hard into a turn, you won't be surprised by under-steer or sloppy handling. Unlike the original Future Shock (found on the Roubaix), the Diverge's version features a progressive spring that makes this technology more suitable for off-road applications, where stiffer suspension is often needed to soak-up larger bumps and obstacles.

Adding to its multifaceted talents, we topped it off with three water bottle mounts, plus mounts for racks and fenders. For the spec, we wanted to make sure that it shifted crisply and braked smoothly mile after mile, so you'll find a Shimano Ultegra groupset, Shimano hydraulic disc brakes, and a DT R470 Disc wheelset.

  • The FACT 9r carbon frame features our adventure-bound Open Road Geometry, Future Shock Progressive suspension with 20mm of travel, and front/rear thru-axles, making it the ultimate tool for your next adventure.

  • The lightweight FACT carbon fork is plenty stiff, aiding in handling and a light overall weight.

  • Shimano's no-fuss Ultegra shifting with hydraulic disc brakes provides precise shifting and plenty of stopping power.

1e ervaring gravelbike

Swiss Amy Knife of bikes

Have had the bike for a week with 2 rides of 20+ miles that were a combo dirt roads, gravel, and pavement. Absolutely a blast to ride. Surprisingly fast and stable in the dirt & the roads. Might not ride my 2010 Roubaix much any more with how well the Diverge performs on pavement. This might be in part to upgrading the wheels to the Roval C 38 wheelset. Which in turn made this more of an expert model than the comp model. Which was my preference as I prefer the full Ultegra set up over the SRAM. Will review the wheels on their page, but if you can do the upgrade from the stock DT Swiss to the C 38's you will love them! Super responsive and the power to the ground is fantastic. The bike set up like this climbs like a goat, rolls true and fast have already topped 40 mph on the pavement (going down hill of course).

This is an absurdly versatile bike!

I bought this bike a few months ago to ride across France, and have loved every second of every mile I've spent with it. What strikes me most is it's versatility. It feels at home and very stable on gravel roads and even some single track with the stock Sawtooth tires it comes with, and when I put some Roubaix Pro road tires on this bike for my France trip, it instantly felt much snappier and accelerated a ton more aggressively. I even almost sold my Tarmac because this bike's road performance blew me away with the road tires. It just happily excels at nearly everything I want out of a drop-bar bike- gravel riding, centuries, bike-packing with panniers, lightweight and fast touring across another country, and even shorter coffee, gym, and grocery runs around town. If, god forbid, I could only keep one bike, it would be my trusty, chameleon-of-a-bike, Diverge.

Fun Bike

I really like this bike, traded my chisel MTB back to the bike shop for this bike instead and am so happy I did. Everything on the bike works great , the tires grip really well when on the trail, the ultegra shifts well and the hydraulic brakes can stop on a dime.

The Bike is Awesome, but fenders don't fit with 38mm Tires!

I ride it on the road and gravel for club runs & Coffee Shop rides, daily training on rough roads and tarmac. Its buttery smooth on the road and the gravelly surfaces that I've ridden so far. Purchased for an upcoming bike packing trip hoping to use the DryTech fenders and the 38mm Sawtooth 2Bliss Tires it comes with and that combo doesn't work. Nowhere on the Specialized website does it say this, all they say is its a go anywhere, do anything bike that takes fenders and racks. If you make a bike suitable for gravel riding, and say that fenders fit, you need to make it so your fenders actually fit with the tyres it comes with or make some narrower sawtooth tires that actually do work with the fenders! If that was the case then I would give 5 stars.

Awesome Bike!

I recently purchased the 2019 model after extensive research of this model versus the comparable Trek and Jamis bikes. The two things that tipped me to the Specialized were the Future Shock and SWAT storage options. Wow, I am not disappointed! First, the folks at Pro Bike + Run in Pittsburgh's North Park are awesome and took the time to answer all of my questions and get me fitted. The bike is simply a joy to ride. It rolls great, the Ultegra components are definitely a step up from the 105s on my ""other"" bike, and the Future Shock has exceeded all expectations. In the past, I often have found my right hand getting numb on longer rides. So far, after a few distance rides on my new Diverge, no numbness whatsoever. In fact, the position of the shifter/brakes looked odd to me when I first saw the bike, but as soon as I went to use them, realized they fit my hands and hand placement perfectly. It's a great design. What a great buy and a solid purchase. You won't be disappointed.

Be Diverge!!!

Bought the 2018 model, perfect all around, all fun bike. The 105 does the job is not astonishing so I definitively appreciate the Ultegra on the 2019 even if is a few bucks more. Same to be said for the AXIS wheels, they do the job, rather heavy though. The Future Shock definitively the best feature compared to other gravels, it's makes rougher rides enjoyable and doesn't ruin the awesome frame performance. Bottom line: great fun bike with ""pro"" quality components, very good value for the bucks.
