I love my bike Sirrus x 4.0

I bought my Sirrus X 4.0 back in June 2020 at the height of the pandemic. It was literally the only bike I could find in all of Houston in an XL frame and was way more than I planned on spending but after having my $400 Haro mtn bike stolen off the road after falling off rack before I could turn around and pick it up I desperately wanted a replacement. I found this bike. I read a lot about it before going to pick it up about the left crank falling off so I made sure to say something to the guys at the shop. They were well aware of this and actually showed me they had already fixed the issue and even put a marker on it that showed it was fixed. I’ve had this bike for almost 3 years now and I still love it. I have put a couple thousand miles on this bike easy and I really haven’t had any problems with it except for sometimes my chain has fallen off. It doesn’t happen a ton but it has. I plan to take care of this thing so it last for many more years to come!

I put a lot of miles on this bike.

Bought this bike to replace a 20-year old full suspension hybrid. The new bike felt like a feather. I put 100 miles in the first week. No issues. The left pedal did get loose somewhat, but not a big deal. The dealership fixed it. No issues so far. The Shimano Deore groupset is awesome. The breaks are excellent. People complain about brake noise, but they must have never heard of the brake part cleaner. Any any cleaner to that matter. Ignore bad reviews. This bike is awesome. We got tons of snow in VA lately. I keep riding my Sirrus X4 while I can't ride the road bike. Gravel roads, trails, towpaths, paved trails, parks. Everything. This bike is good.

Versatile

I ride rail trails and back roads in my area and have been riding a Trek FX 3. My old bile was a little too large and I wanted to improve handling, performance, and efficiency, so I bought the Sirrus X 4.0. I am 5'7 with 29" inseam and the Medium fits me well. It is stable, agile and fast and it handles well on rail trails or pavement. The 1x11 drive train seems better than the 2x9. It shifts super fast and smooth and the 1x11 is versatile on any kind of hills or flat ground. I bought tubeless tires with light tread and they handle loose gravel well. This bike increases the fun factor and feels like it is part of me -- very natural feel. It met all of my goals an expectations.

Jack of all trades

After 200 miles on my 2021 Sirrus 4.0 X I'm thoroughly impressed with its capabilities. I started out doing mostly 15 mile road loops for fitness and found it nearly as efficient as a dedicated road bike. The riding position isn't particularly aero and the gearing spins out at 30mph, so I started to think about drop bars and gearing upgrades. But then I took it on some smooth single track MTB trails and was so impressed that I'm going the other direction with better trail tires. The bike rips on trails, and is much more efficient on rolling cross country trails than my 6 inch full suspension MTB. The 1x11 drivetrain. future shock and ergos of the bike are satisfactory for asphalt, but really shine on gravel and trails. Love this bike and I'm riding more than ever.

Great Bike.

Great Bike. Owned it for a little more than a month. I started riding more miles with this new bike. Smooth ride and lite weight. Rode on Gravel and on paved roads. Performs Excellent! I used to ride a mountain bike, after two hours of ride, my thumbs feel numb, but with this bike nothing like that. Less stress on your hands with future shock 1.5.

I am still undecided

I have enjoyed ride so far. Disappointed with Specialized and LBS where I purchased bike. I realized after purchasing bike right before shut down that my seat was 155. I have been measured in the past for specialized saddle and it was a 143. I asked to switch to the 143 size (listed on specs) Specialized and LBS said I would have to purchase a new seat to the tune of $100+ for same saddle. I wish I would have know before purchase. I am also going to contact LBS and ask about the recall of crank arm listed below. Jury is out as to whether or not I will recommend product.

Great bicycle

I have had this bike for 2 weeks and love it. I exchanged the grips for Ergon3 grips that are more comfortable but other than that I have no complaints. Very light and comfortable ride. I can definitely tell the difference with the future shock and I am glad I spent the extra money to get that option.

Introduced me to my love of gravel roads

This is my first real bike and what an amazing investment. It's comfortable and can do roads and gravel just fine. I took it on a 160-mile bikepacking trip last weekend and it was such a fun bike. It was my first time on gravel roads and I felt secure, comfortable, and fast! The tires are great for it and the Future Shock made the handling good. The only things I would or have changed are the handlebar width (which I think is a little excessive at almost 27 inches for a medium frame) and the saddle (which is always a personal choice). I did get it right after the recall and have had no issueS. The bike shop I got it at knew what they were doing and had fixed it already. I really enjoy this bike and I'm glad I got it.

Amazing Cycle

I live in Laguna, we have tons of bike trails both paved and dirt. Lots of hills and lots of downhill twistys to ride. I had to wait to get my X 4.0 and it was worth it. My particular bike was after the recall so it wasn't an issue, but I think it was blown out of proportion. If you have any mechanical knowledge you know that two opposing bolts that are on the same shaft have to be torqued. If one is tighter or looser it causes problems. Maybe this was a bike shop problem... I don't know. Anyway, enough of that. I have put about 150 miles on the bike since I got it. I have taken it on paved trails, dirt trails, even a little mountain biking, It performed amazingly. The Future Shock does what it does without even noticing it's there, just smooth riding. I was impressed that there was no side to side wiggling of the handlebar which I thought would be an issue climbing. The seat feels great, the Pathfinder tires are amazing on all surfaces. It's light, fast, handles great, and climbs effortlessly. At this price point it's a super deal in my opinion. I have lost count as to how many Specialized bikes I have owned, they just do everything better.

Left Crank

My left Crank fell off on the 2nd ride. Took it back to the shop and they fixed it immediately. They also pulled it in for a recall on the same issue last week. Like a lot of you below, it's been in the shop quite a lot. Luckily for me the shop is willing to do all they can to help me out. My chain comes off pretty much every ride and I'd expect a little more. I do like the bike when it behaves!

Crankarm has fallen off twice.

Ive been trying to get a new crankarm nut that fell off and was lost. My dealer says he doesn't know what size, and Specialized just gives you a case number and ignores. One nut people. Shouldn't be this hard.

Recall issued for left crank arm falling off

I've had the bike for a little over a month now, and have (mostly) been extremely happy with it. Coming from carbon bikes I was concerned about how harsh the ride would be, but between the Future Shock, the carbon fork, and the wider tires, the bike really soaks up the bumps on Chicago city streets while still feeling pretty quick and nimble. I'm 5' 9"" with a 32"" inseam, and the medium frame feels great. I'm in between sizes and some places will say I should've sized up to a large, but the standover height would be a bit too high, and I have wrist issues and prefer to be slightly more upright. The stock saddle fits me pretty well, and the brakes perform without issue. After a few dozen miles the bike started hesitating to shift up into 9th gear, so I took the bike into the LBS for adjustment. Most importantly, as others have reported, yesterday my left crank arm started feeling very loose/wobbly, and today on the way to the LBS it fell off mid-ride. I've seen a lot of complaints of this happening with the Sirrus X 3.0, but can confirm that this happened with my 4.0. When I got to the LBS they said that Specialized just issued a recall this morning (6/25) for this issue on several bike models including the Sirrus X 4.0, so it looks like there's officially a fix. I'd highly recommend this bike, provided the recall solves the crank issues.

I love riding this bike

I've had the bike a few weeks and so far I love it. Mostly riding on asphalt, but a little gravel and grass in the back of our local park and the bike feels great back there. This is a $1200 bike so I expected a lot. It's light and tight, fast and just feels great. My one complaint is the pedals it comes with stink, so I spent $125 on a pair of Raceface flat pedals and OMG those things are great, now I have the perfect bike. I do miss my big tire indestructible mountain bike, but hey I'm a little older now, riding mostly asphalt and flat easy trails with the wife, and the Sirrus 4.0 is perfect for that.

Added Concerns

I'd like to add to my original rating. First off...my crank fell off mid ride too, and I just dropped it off again due to the new crank they put on giving me issues. Added concern is that a spoke also fell off the bike. Folks....I'm not beating this bike up....I'm simply riding it....which it's designed to do. The mechanic said they'd take care of it, but is this bike really that safe to be riding?

Crank fell off the first ride...

As other reviewers have said here, and for the X3, the crank falls off, and is very dangerous. I'd like to replace with a different crank, but it's a completely generic part, with no indication what will work for replacement. Bike seems great so far except for this.

LOVE THIS BIKE!!!

Speed is excellent, works on practically everything (concrete, rocks, mud, dirt, loose gravel, etc.). The only thing I wish was better about the bike was the turning radius. My local park has sharp turns that truly cannot be done with fast speed but slower speed only (mostly due to slopes). The gears, however, come in excellent handy for the preparation of your upcoming turn. Overall, it's as smooth as my Audi!!!

Pretty bike

Bought the bike to replace a 15 year old full suspension mountain bike with Hayes hydraulic breaks which have been tortured yet work great. The breaks on this bike do not, in particular the front. I have to pull quite hard and when they start to slow the bike down they make a loud noise that causes other near by people to look my way. The bike also up shifts with quite a jar in some of the gears so much so that I can feel It in both pedals but mostly in the right. I would have also preferred a narrower handle bar but that should be easy to adjust. The breaks will need to be fixed which is supersizing for a 2 month old bike. Otherwise the bike is light, handles well, and looks great.
