In the helmet world, there's an unwritten rule that many designs seem to follow: aerodynamics, weight, aesthetics, and ventilation—pick two, there's your helmet. In our typical fashion, however, we don’t follow these norms—we innovate. And it’s precisely this mentality that led us to the Airnet. Loosely based upon the leather “hairnets” that cyclists used to wear before protection was a priority, we took their ventilation and classic style and incorporated them into a modern helmet design that combines all of the above features.

Although we had the hairnet shape in mind during the design phase, we started by looking at the category leader in aerodynamic road helmets, our S-Works Evade, to see if we could make a classic style that wasn't only aesthetically pleasing, but also helped in the aero department. What we came up with is our third fastest helmet, behind the TT and Evade, that's lightweight, well ventilated, and looking good no matter your riding style.

The Airnet also features our ultra-light Mindset HairPort micro-dial fit system, making the perfect fit easily achievable, while our drirelease® Merino wool pads provide you with increased comfort, odour control, and sweat management. Clean and simple, the Airnet helmet is the ideal blend of functionality and performance for riders seeking both adventure and style.

  • Ultra-light Mindset micro-dial fit system with height adjustability for the perfect fit.

  • 4th Dimension Cooling System with deep internal channels, large vents, and aligned exhaust ports.

  • Composite matrix internal reinforcement allows larger vents for enhanced cooling.

  • drirelease® Merino wool pads for increased comfort and sweat/ temperature management.

  • Thin, soft, and lightweight 4X DryLite webbing won’t stretch out with sweat or water.

  • Tri-Fix web splitter for improved comfort and ease of strap adjustments.

  • Instrap webbing system for ultra-light construction and security.

  • Reflective decals for increased visibility in low-light conditions.

  • MIPS-equipped.

Good airflow, bad finish

Ive had 2 of these helmets where the finish has failed. The first ones finish began to flake within days of getting it. It is stored inside and taken care of. Specialized did replace the helmet at no cost. The second one has now failed 4 months later. I will get a different helmet next time.

Disappointing Material Quality

The helmet fits and vents very well…but the matte finish began to peel off almost immediately. I purchased it because I loved the way that it looked initially, but expected that a pricy helmet would maintain its appearance for much longer with use. Did not live up to the quality that I have come to expect and appreciate from Specialized.

Looks great and breathes well.

I bought this helmet for gravel rides and bikepacking. I couldn’t ask for a better helmet. The ventilation is fantastic, fit is excellent, and the straps work super well. I purchased the black/grey one and love the matte finish. It’s got a great, clean look to it. Just a great looking helmet that breathes super well.

Good helmet, bad paint

Helmet fits nice and I like the airflow. However, the flat black top coat is peeling off already. My helmet is only a couple months old, with 1-2 rides a week. I don’t think it’s from UV damage. Probably just a bad paint job

Light and well ventilated

Very lightweight and well vented. The fit is probably best for a more round head. The ratchet to tighten the helmet works great and the straps are thin and lightweight.

Great airflow!!

I really like this Airnet helmet. I bought it to replace my much used Propero 3. The airflow is noticeably better for me than my old helmet . It is very comfortable and looks very sporty! Great product!

Saved my noggin. Replaced with the same helmet immediately.

The Airnet is light, very comfortable, as stylish as helmets get, and easy to adjust. Most importantly it does it's job. I got smacked by a car crossing the bike lane at about 35 mph and my helmet cracked all the way through. But that's what it's supposed to do. Combine that impact absorption, along with MIPS and I walked away bruised and freaking pissed off but with no concussion or head trauma. Call that a win.

Pretty good helmet

Good helmet but piece/section of padding inside isn't fully glued on. Later, it may fall off after lots of use. Otherwise, pretty good.

One of the best helmets I have ever owned

Excellent airflow and cooling ( particularly with the Mips), comfortable fit and nice and quiet due to its aerodynamics. Rode with this over the hot and muggy summer here in VA and it was a huge improvement over my old, more expensive european helmet. I am always right between a L and XL at around 62-63cm and this helmet fits great with room and adjustment to spare. Comfortable and easy tightening/retention dial in the rear. The only thing I would wish for would be different colors, maybe a matte white. The color of this helmet looked like a light gray on the website but it is more of a lavender color, not a big deal I guess because I can't see it when it's on! :)

Great helmet would be better in brighter colors

Helmet is comfortable and well ventilated. The attachment system works well for my head and the lining keeps sweat out of my eyes to a high degree. Just subtracting one star for the lack of color options. I would have preferred a high viz color, like bright white or yellow, for safety and that’s not available in this helmet.

Helmet is nice, components are cheap

I like the helmet, but the rear adjustment dial broke after just a few rides. Also, the pads inside break down quickly and there is no way to replace.

Great helmet for big heads

If you wear an 7 7/8 or 8" fitted cap specialized might be the only brand that make helmets that fit well. Excellent choice for people with big heads. Specific to the Airnet: the ventilation is great, it looks good, retention system seems well thought out. My only gripe with this helmet was all of the dumb warning stickers they put all over inside the vents. They looked bad and were really hard to get off.

I'm on my third

I'm on my third Airnet. This is my first one with MIPS, and disappointingly the first one that wasn't included with a cloth visor. It's comfortable and makes me look less stupid than other helmets. I've put my previous Airnets to the test and they held up and probably saved me from head injury. I have a pretty big head and the medium fits perfect while not turning me into a mushroom head. I suspect a large would be good if you wear a cap. My wife has a not-so-big head and the small was too small for her.

Second one and still impressed

My first Airnet was 4 years old and holding up well. I crashed and cracked the side of the helmet. The helmet protected my head with no injuries. I tried a different helmet and it didn't measure up to the Airnet's performance. Every detail on the Airnet is deigned for function and comfort.

Generally pleased, but slippery straps

All told, ok with this helmet - it's light and comfortable. I've ridden it for a year and fortunately not tested it in a crash and hope to keep it that way! The reason for 4 stars - is that the straps, while noticeably lightweight, are slippery. I need to tighten them with each ride because the strap material is slippery and they loosen-up while riding. Specialized should be able to design a lightweight strong strap that also holds its position.

Great helmet but NOISY!

Greet fit, quality build and great for warm weather but with all the vents it's very noisy when you're speeding down hills.

Not For Me

I am an experienced cyclist, smallish body frame. I tried this helmet on in the store, took it home and rode with a few times. I figured I could adjust it later. To my surprise, the ear straps aren't adjustable and they are too long for me. I have excess strapping flapping in the wind. Ugh! Can't return it either. . . Guess I'll overlap the webbing and sew it up.

I put it on and forget it's there

I don't usually leave reviews but I thought this helmet really needed one. I've worn this helmet about 10 times so far and the one thing I love about it is that I feel like it turns invisible once I snap the chin strap. Nothing beats a helmet you never have to think about! In fact, I had just left my house and thought oh no, I forgot my helmet because I could feel the breeze on my head (another great feature!!) but to my surprise I tapped my head and there it was! So, of course this is my opinion, but this is the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn!

A great helmet! Fits perfectly, adjustment is easy, cooling is perfect and profile is small. I would buy again.
