No wrist closure, I can't get them on

I'm returning these because I can't even get them on without severely pinching my wrists, fingers, and hands. . Specialized used to make these great Dual Gel gloves with a velcro closure, and I thought I was buying another set of them. These are SO narrow and snug at the wrist.

Comfortable gloves, but poorly made

I really like the comfort and feel of these gloves, but they don't last. First pair: the pad fell out within a couple months. The stitching around the pocket that holds it in came apart completely. Second pair: the stitching on the right thumb started to fall apart almost immediately. I look at these gloves as one season and done. At half price I can justify that. At full price, I expect better build quality.

Less is a lot more ...

I love these gloves! You work to get them on, but afterwards they fit like a second skin, with palm padding. Completely comfortable, and the colors are ... sophisticated - (certainly not common) .... I feel in very good taste.

No wrist closure/difficult to get on

These gloves have no closure mechanism at the wrist -- I struggled to try one on because the fixed-size opening is just too small. When I finally got into one glove (to check fit) it was apparent that I should have sized up one (or even two) sizes despite ordering the Specialized-chart-recommended size. Even with a larger size I think these gloves without the normal closure (typically a velcro tab) would be a major annoyance to use. They're going back.

My favorite fingerless gloves

Had my first pair for about 3 years before I accidently dried them too many times in the dryer and the gel insert came out. I just ordered 2 more pair and they are still my favorite. The gel padding is the perfect amount of padding in just the right spot.

Room for Improvement

These gloves are just okay for longer rides, if that. In spite of the advertising, my hands are going numb quicker than with the gloves these were intended to replace. Cycling 20 miles give or take, is fine. Any longer, you need to take every opportunity to get your hands off the hoods and shake them vigorously. Good thing they were half price.

Solved my problem!

I’ve suffered hand numbness for 15 years despite using all the usual remedies on my road bike. I’ve been using these gloves for 5 months and 1000+ miles and they have eliminated that issue for me. They fit like a second skin. Felt tight first time I put them but no problem now. I have machine washed them several times and still like new. I have the long fingered version as well which I’ll switch to in the Fall. Highly recommended.

Great Minimalist Glove

These are simply incredible in terms of initial comfort, temperature regulation, protection, and long ride comfort. Hard to believe that minimal padding can work better than thick (hot) padding but the placement seems the key. I’ve had some for three years and washed many times and they are only now losing cushioning.

Reduces frequency and duration of numbness compared to no gloves. Somewhat difficult getting on and off the hands. The finger openings for index and thumb were a little tight on both my hands, which improved with manually stretching them. The fit over the body of each hand was otherwise good.

First Pair of (Amazing) Riding Gloves

These are my first riding gloves and I am very satisfied with them after a few rides. I specifically chose them for the Equalizer gel pads since I read great reviews about that technology, and they do feel very comfortable. So comfortable in fact that I totally forget I'm wearing gloves, even on hot days! I was worried about the size being pretty small, but the second-skin feel once on definitely makes up for the bit of finger contortion required to put them on.

I should know by now: gloves are always somewhat smaller than indicated size. My hands are “average” size, which I consider “medium,” yet, LARGE sized gloves are still tight. The quality of Specialized gloves is superior to others that I have tried. Providing more objective sizing data would be helpful; perhaps, for example, “wrist size (cm),” “finger length (cm),” or some measure of palm circumference indicated in a diagram.

Great gloves but...

This is a great glove that I have been using for years, however whilst the early release of this glove featured stitching to fingers, and other areas, the newer version is glued, and the glue does not last long with heavy use. Over the last three years I have been through 4 sets of gloves, and I have now reverted to my initial pair, which are starting to stretch out. I visited the specialized website hoping to see whether they had reverted back to the stitching, however it does not seem to be the case.

Feel great, but dye leaks out for months

I really like the way these fit and feel since I prefer the more even padding across the palm to the other gloves with thick pads that leave the area where my palm hits road bars unpadded. But the black dye leaked blue out for months of use and regular washing (to try to get it to stop). It changed the color of my bar tape, and filled my sink with blue/black dye every time I washed them. I had to be careful where to dry them so they wouldn't drip blue dye on a white towel or whatever. If they fixed the dye issue I would buy a bunch of these, but I see others complain about the same thing.

Gel pad wads up

These are really nice-looking gloves made from quality materials, and they feel nice when you put them on. But I tried 2 different pairs of these, and in both pairs the gel pad shifted around and bunched up in a ball at the base of the pocket where it's contained. Both times this happened on the first or 2nd time wearing them. It's a nice idea but doesn't work for me.

They've fixed them!

First off, please note that Specialized has fixed the "balling up" problem. My gloves, bought off of the Specialized website, look to be manufactured in April of 2022. The pad in the middle is now stitched onto the "insert" which is then fused into the inside of the glove. As to the gloves' performance, all I have to say is, it's like magic! If you haven't tried these before, grab a pair. These are a steal at this price ($35 at time of review) and outperform gloves three times that price. It is an interesting feeling at first. Because there is no padding in the "usual" spots, I can actually feel the bar and it is as if I'm not even wearing gloves. Also, I can tell that there is more pressure in the middle of my hands where there wasn't before. Yet somehow... no numb and/or painful hands even on long rides! After a 200K are my hands uncomfortable? Yes, they are, but no longer do I have cyclists' palsy for weeks afterwards.

2nd pair of gloves in

2nd pair of gloves in 5 years.....so I was little overdue. That being said, these fit nicely, tight (as designed), and have great padding in the underhand. I've had them about a month (500 or so miles), take good care of them, and they have stretched out a little,,,as expected. Never had an issue with the underhand padding "balling up" - so either its been fixed or I did something magically to prevent this. I also enjoy the pull on type gloves (as opposed to the velcro closure) as I seem to always be wiping sweat away with my glove tops.....thanks Texas! Easy recommendation to anyone interested.

treat them carefully at first

I actually read the reviews after buying these gloves. The bunching of the gel insert seems to be a real problem, so I have been careful in using these gloves. It seems like after my first ride, the pressure and heat from my hands kind of "set" the gel insert into place. I have continued to be careful, but hopefully these gloves will still be okay after I begin to get careless. Four stars because the stitching is not as nearly as flawless as in the pictures.

Was a great glove - before the pad roll up issues

About 3 yrs ago I purchased my first pair of grail gloves (high viz yellow half finger), love them, still have them even if they are faded, worn and tattered. They were game changers for me. I also have a pair of the long finger version (white/black). Both pairs have been great. I saw the half finger version on sale here, had my LBS order me 2 pairs of the aqua blue half finger version. On both pairs the ortho pad has rolled/bunched up. I see many others have had this issue. Even the bike shop acknowledged it has been an issue. I compared the original pair to the new pair and the original was sewed on the inside of the glove vs some sort of fused/glued in now. I'm going to see if a seamstress can cut the inside ""pouch"" and reset the pad and sew it in place. If that doesn't work, I'll just remove the pad. Hate they've ruined a great pair of gloves! Hope they fix the pad roll up issue!

Gel pad rolls up

Bought 3 of them because the previous version was so good. Wore for a while then washed them (admittedly in the washer). Then I set them out to air dry. Gel pad balled up and that was the end of them. I don't remember my previous version ever having that problem. Got a pair and wishing the first 10km the gel pad moved around and rolled itself up into a ball inside the pocket it's inside, it was like trying to ride with a golf ball in the palm of your gloves. Gel Pockets Are Uncomfortable and Poorly Designed

The gloves fit well. However, the gels are located in a sealed pocket and tend to move around, eventually ending up in one part of the pocket and forming an uncomfortable lump. This design is problematic, since it is virtually impossible to readjust the gel pad in the glove once it moves and is painful to ride with on the handlebar. Would not buy again, and would not recommend. Look for a pair of gloves that have a gel pad that doesn't move around, or is readjustable.

Not near as good as previous version

Loved the previous version as fit was spot on, just enough padding to dampen bumps and still maintain good feel, and super durable so after 2 + years was time to get a couple new pairs. After the 1st ride I was sooo disappointed as the gel pack is not secured in the palm and had all squished up near the bottom of the gel pocket. As soon as I got home slit a tiny hole in bottom of gel pockets of both sets of gloves and pulled out the gel pads... now they are perfect! Should have went for the Pro SL gloves as this what these have essentially become.

Stay clear of this product

I bought this pair of cycling gloves based on style and Specialized logo. After wearing just twice, the pocket containing the gel pad on the left hand broke open and the pad fell out. The right hand gel pad rolled into a ball within its pocket and cannot be unrolled giving you a big bulge in the palm. After two uses, these gloves are already left unusable. Contacted Specialized for refund/replacement. So far, no replies

Don't waste your money. Zero stars if I could

Buy any other gloves. ANY. Just don't but these. See all those horrible reviews about the gel padding? It WILL happen to you too. I made the mistake of buying these at my LBS without seeing any of the reviews. Took two rides for the pad to roll up. Sent an email to CS and said ""I can't get the pads unbunched."" They said NP, we'll send you a replacement. Kudos to them for that. BUT, then..... about 5 miles into my first ride with the replacement pair, I could feel the pad gathering at the heel of my hand. I had to take them off before the end of my ride because they got so uncomfortable. Two pairs couldn't last 60 miles between them. Get the Dual Gel and take your chances with a bad velcro strap. Get ANY other glove. DO NOT waste your money on these.

Listen to the other reviews!

I bought this product because I had an older pair that I wanted to replace. Sadly they have changed for the significant worse. I attempted to reach out to the company to have my issue with the product resolved, but was ignored. The gel pad in the center of the glove will immediately begin bunching and shifting upon use, completely defeating the purpose of the glove by causing incredible discomfort in the location it should be supporting. The rest of the construction is solid and this single change of choosing not to put any effort into securing the gel pad has ruined this product. Please avoid and hopefully put pressure on them to resolve this issue and make it right for the loyal customers that have been punished by assuming that they would continue to produce a quality product.

DO NOT BUY

I don't know why I didn't listen to the other reviewers who wrote this: the gel pad thing, which is already thin and flimsy, immediately moves and gets bunched up. We're talking after 2 rides. There is no way to fix it. So no padding, no distributing pressure. Actually adding pressure where it's bunched up. On the positive side they look good and have nice ventilation on the back of the hand. I like Specialized generally (love my Diverge and Evade), and I like that there is no strap (stretchy bike gloves with velcro straps are overbuilt). But I need SOME padding.

Despite the reviews, I decided to try these gloves after a test fit at my LBS. These gloves are super comfortable and the padding is perfect UNTIL you ride in them. After 1 ride, the right hand gel pad was already bunching up in the glove. Returned to the store. So disappointed as I really liked the fit and feel of these gloves. I have Specialized gloves that are many years old and are still great. Please fix these.

The equalizer moves

After 15 minutes of riding the equalizer moved and is folded up in the pocket. Both gloves had this issue. I got one normal but I can't get the other one fixed.

Fancy advertising but not so good fitting.

The gloves look great on the website but upon receiving them and then wearing them I knew that I was snookered. The gloves are too small for a grown man, even though I ordered the large size. I am sure I will be able to only get a few more uses out of the pair and then I will have to give them away.

Gel pad rolled up

Gel pad rolled up in less than 100 gravel miles. I bought these because I have another pair of Specialized gloves that have lasted 3 seasons. I would not buy these again.

I like these gloves

These are the only gloves I've used that relieve the pain and numbness in my hands after riding for a while. The new fit is slightly different but they still work well for me.

Poorly made. Junk.

After about six washings the pocket that holds the gel pad came loose in one of the gloves. Found the gel pad in the mesh bag I use for washing gloves. Using glue is clearly cost cutting. I have an older pair of full fingered BG gloves and the gel pocket is sewn in with double stitching--a much better solution. Figure it out SPECIALIZED!

I would not buy again, until they change back to old design

Ordered from Specialized - used 2 times, about 4 hours total. The gel pad ""rolls up inside the glove and becomes a lump at the base. These are not wearable. I have had 4 pair of these over the last 3 years and they were ""best gloves ever"". Not anymore. Something is wrong in manufacturing, quality control or a design change that was not tested. Doesn't anyone at Specialized check these products ?

Terrible design change. Poorly thought through

I have tried to replace my 2-year old gloves after a few crashes tore them. Both replacements feature a cheaper version of the gel that ""floats"" and bunches up, causing a lump that only causes misery on a long ride. Can't understand why you changed a good thing. These gloves are useless.

very discomfort as it roll up

I have used these for many years, but the newest pair the palm padding is no longer sew-in causing it to shift and roll up, causing discomfort while you ride. Very disappointing!

Quality issues

This newer version glues a patch over the gel vs the previous models that had it sealed by stitching,,inside of 30 days the glue has come up and the gel pads are out..

Good idea, poor execution.

The quality of these gloves has gone way downhill and I suggest you look elsewhere. I have 3 pairs of these gloves and the first pair was so good that I decided to pick up another pair. I was disappointed to see that the construction has changed and the palm padding is no longer sewn in causing it to shift and bunch up causing discomfort. Thinking that I maybe just got a bad pair I decided to pick up a 3rd pair but found that the problem is still present. I tried the new gloves on and rode in my driveway, the pad immediately started to fold and bunch up. It took .01 miles for the new gloves to fail which is just not acceptable. Needless to say they're going back to the shop and I'll be looking for new gloves. It's too bad, the original design is stitched in and works perfectly but Specialized decided to cut costs and the quality went down the tubes.

Defective gel pads. Poor return policy.

Would be a great glove, except that the gel pads both folded up on me by the end of a single one-hour ride on an indoor trainer. Ordered direct from Specialized. I called them to return the gloves as defective, and they did send me a return shipping label at their expense, but when I got a refund, they did not refund the initial shipping. So, in the end, I paid to beta test their defective product.

Despite the common issue, its still a great glove

*How to repair your glove if the gel pad becomes dislodged* Step 1 - Turn glove inside out, completely. Step 2 - Reposition gel pad inside the ""pocket"". Optional: You can get it absolutely perfect by using a toothpick to ""drag"" the gel pad into place and line up the holes. Step 3 - To seal up the tear in the ""pocket"", I used a small strip of black fusible web tape and an iron set to ""low"", going about 2cm at a time to properly match the curve of the pocket. Good as new! You can find this type of tape at any store that sells fabric/craft type stuff. Its handy to have in case you want to quickly repair light fabrics!
