With Future Shock suspension front and rear, the new Diverge STR delivers compliance without compromise. By suspending the rider—instead of the bike—Future Shock technology increases control and efficiency while decreasing fatigue, so you’ll be riding farther and faster over chunkier terrain than you believed possible. And the Diverge STR does this without the weight, sluggish pedal response, and inefficiency of other suspension systems. The Diverge STR Expert starts with our FACT 11r carbon frameset with front and rear Future Shock suspension. It’s built with SRAM’s Rival eTap AXS Eagle groupset for fast, efficient shifting with a 10-50 cassette to ensure you have the gearing to tackle any ride. The bike rolls on the Roval Terra C wheels with 42mm Tracer Pro tires. Adventure Gear alloy handlebars, an S-Works carbon seatpost, and Power Expert saddle complete the package making the Diverge STR the most capable Diverge ever.

  • By suspending the rider with damped, tunable travel—20mm front/30mm rear—Future Shock Technology absorbs bump forces to boost your control and capability while retaining the efficiency and responsiveness of a rigid frame. Because as far as power transfer goes, it is a rigid frame. Power to the pedals makes the bike jump like a scared cat. You’re efficient, you’re comfortable, you’re in control. Your bike is light, nimble, and responsive.

  • The new Diverge doesn’t just have gorgeous lines, it has perfect curves too. Future Shock Rear puts 30mm of rear travel in the ideal path to smooth out rough road. Its hydraulic damping controls travel to eliminate “bobbing” under power and ensure big hits never catapult you from the saddle, all without compromising fit or pedaling efficiency.

  • Born from decades of innovation and our Smoother is Faster philosophy, Future Shock was created to develop bikes that win on cobblestones, but it’s found its purest expression on gravel. It’s 20mm of adjustable, damped front travel that keeps you in control and on target, all while protecting your hands, arms, and shoulders from the battering.

  • More capability means more confidence, more confidence means more rides, more rides mean more fun, and it all starts at the contact patch. Nothing unlocks capability like tire clearance, and we’re feeling generous. 47mm on a 700c wheel and 2.1” on 650B. Diverge STR is the most capable gravel bike we’ve ever made, so it’s the most fun. We did the math.

Specialized diverge STR

Excellent bicycle. I have a 2019 diverge comp and it is also an excellent bike and it is a fast bike. Some of the gravel around here is chunky and rough. The STR changed all of that and I can now move over the more difficult chunk with ease. My top-out speed suffers a bit but it is perfect for real gravel. Formerly, I was using a hard tail for the difficult gravel. I am super stoked to have a bicycle that can handle the harsh terrain and it is much faster than the hardtail. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Diverge Expert

I purchased the Diverge Expert last week and have had two opportunities to ride it for a total of about five hours. I ride mainly on roads and a bike path which, unfortunately, have ruts and irregularities making it far too uncomfortable for me to ride my Tarmac, which I like very much. The Diverge, with the front and rear suspension, does very little to smooth out the rough roads. Only by lowering the tire preset to about 20 pounds is there any relief from near constant pounding from the road. With the rear suspension on the soft setting I can feel the seat moving without making much difference in the impact of the road. I wish that I had gone with a gravel bike without the suspension and simply relied on wide tires with low pressure.

Smooth and Comfortable

I really love my 2023 STR Expert. The rear shock works really well. Front shock is decent, but can bottom-out at times. The STR is really fun to ride and I don't feel the additional weight on climbs. The only negative for me are the stock handlebars. They were hard, small and painful for my hands. I purchase the Carbon Tara bars and it made the bike 100% better. I would love to see a 13 speed option in the future.

Love it

Great bike. I wanted a bike that I can ride on mainly cycle paths, canal paths and those annoying paths that everyone uses. Great gravel rides, not so much as there isn’t much of that around the southwest, it’s more like short sections of hard packed mud and rocks, or crappy ground, ground you don’t really want to take your 28mm road tyres on and worry about punctures. And this is perfect for it. Eats up the potholes, rolls over the rocks effortlessly. The future shock on the front works without you really noticing which is good, and to be honest, I thought, il ride with the rear shock closed because i didn’t want it feeling weird, but as soon as I opened it, felt odd for a couple minutes, and then I just left it open as I didn’t really notice it. It was great. Looked down a few times and could see it moving yet couldn’t feel it so that’s a good thing, working without being intrusive is a big kudos to spesh. Il probably swap the wheels to pathfinders as that will suit my rides better.

Diverge STR Blends Comfort and Perfomance to Great Effect.

The Specialized brand, in my opinion is second to none, and this is clearly reflected in my purchase of the Diverge STR Expert. Cutting edge engineering went into the development of the Diverge STR and this is evident in the outcome when riding this very compliant gravel bike. The Diverge has always been one of the models in my quiver going back about a decade, and the STR is a big improvement, in my opinion, over the previous model. Compliance is key when it comes to comfort. The STR has them both in a great blend of performance and comfort. Definitely a great value, as I purchased this from the Specialized website on sale. Definitely recommended.

Just Wow - perfect for the English Canal towpaths

Having spent 10 years looking for the perfect Canal towpath bike I discovered the STR, I did have a zertz Diverge so I knew the bike was going to be good....but not that good :-) Having now covered 200 miles on the English canal network I can simply say CHAPEAU Specialized, this bike is incredible. The 2.0 future shock is fantastic upfront (I put a spot of hyper green paint on the dial to see if locked off or not) but the rear futurshock just wow. I have it set in the stiff position for the road and have dialed in the rear a lot but still have lots of movement when the switch is in the open position. Even with the axs Dropper its still super comfy on the real bumpy stuff (the tow path). The 47mm tyres are a real compliment to the ride. Its no wonder the likes of Ian Boswell and Laurens ten Dam raced the STR in this years unbound, the bike is fast comfortable and really strangley is super lively in the sprint and climbs.

Fast Fun

This bike is everything I've been waiting for - fast on smooth surfaces, nimble on technical single track, comfortable with extra mounts for bike packing. Yes it is pricey, and no I'm not road racing on it nor am I clearing jumps, but I am pushing it on everything in between, and having a sweet time of it :-). Waited 30 years for a bike that could meet my needs, and finally it's arrived. My only concern, will the tech hold up over the years, as I do tend to keep my bikes for a long time. I'll be pre purchasing some spare components just in case, and I might even get a second set of wheels, one for gravel, one for single track. This bike is a significant financial investment, and it's paying me back in some fast fun days in the saddle.

Super bike

I use to ride long gravel road and hard mud trail back on the 90 with « vintage mountain bike ». This Diverge STR is still rigid climbing hills without any pumping effect of either the front or rear suspension. On the other hand rolling fast on bumpy back country gravel road is a pure pleasure. Vibrations being dampened by both suspension without removing the sensation of fast road cycling. This is is a pure pleasure to ride.
