Miles of smiles

I’ve ridden the Epic Comp Au bike for more than 6 years and enjoyed every moment of it. It may not have been the top model, but that did not hold the bike back. I was mostly looking for a bike that would help me go uphill fast and she did. The Brain Shock is the "secret sauce" and all my future mountain bikes must have one.

Surprisingly fast

Great bike! Despite alloy «everything» and being heavier than many competing bikes, this Epic is surprisingly fast and lively. It does everything well, and I have used it in all conditions for 5 years, and I am still happy with it.

Fast, fun, firm

I love my Epic! I have weaved between trees on flat terrain, surfed over some gnarly rock gardens, sprinted up technical climbs like a scalded cat, and enjoyed very exhilarating descents. I can't imagine a better cross country platform. The suspension has good, but limited, compliance. The big wheels are an excellent match for the suspension, taking enough of the edge off roots and rocks to feel in control 100% of the time. The carbon frame is light enough that I can pop the front wheel over obstacles easily. Gearing is great for fast rides. This bike is ideal for fast, swooping lines. It's not quite as nimble on twisting/turning trails as smaller wheel bikes, but you'll easily pass your riding partners when the trail opens up, especially with the superior pedaling efficiency of the Brain shock!
