This rack made it all the way through New Zealand

My partner and I both used this rack with a 13L sea to summit dry bag (about 10-15 pounds) attached to it by voile straps on a trip all through out New Zealand (2,000 miles). IT DID GREAT! The rack never moved and even on rugged/technical single track the rack did not budge for me. The rack did slide down for my partner but thats because was loading it more than the recommended weight. Pro Tip, flip the bolts so they are facing up so you can adjust them more easily if needed.

Inadequate for Bikepacking

I'm torn between 2 and 3 stars. For cruising on pavement with a 6 pack, this rack can probably work. A compatriot used this rack on a recent excursion. Transparently, he was on a gravel bike as we were rolling down gravel roads and light singletrack. However, the rack required almost constant re-adjustment and re-configuration. We spent more time fiddling with this than any other component in our trip. The rack is lightweight, good-looking, and has the Specialized logo in multiple places. I wouldn't trust it for anything heavy or rough.

Crossbar Mis-aligned

I actually like the design of the product and corresponding bags but noticed an issue with the construction. The crossbar is out of square by almost a half centimeter so a mounted light doesn’t point straight. The bar is at an angle rather than perpendicular to the rack. I didn’t have a light adapter mount until now but it is unfortunately past the return date. I would just exchange for another if given the option
