What makes the Stumpjumper EVO the ultimate trail bike?

Product Details

Add Icon

Total control, unparalleled bump-eating suspension, and a fine-tunable geometry are hallmarks of the all-new Stumpjumper EVO Expert. Top it off with a build that blends quality, affordability, and durability, and it’s the perfect trail partner, no matter where those trails are, or how rowdy they get.

  • All the travel in the world is useless without the proper shock tuning and kinematics. For the new Stumpjumper EVO design, we prioritized kinematic performance. Applying lessons learned while developing the Enduro, then following that with more than 1,000 hours of field and suspension lab development, we’ve not only improved the pedaling performance of the Stumpjumper, but we’ve made it more capable, agile, and lively. We increased anti-squat, so the suspension better resists pedal bob, and we further improved bump performance on square-edge hits. Bottom line? This thing shreds trails, not legs.

  • The S-Sizing geometry of the new Stumpjumper EVO is our most progressive yet. Long, low, slack, short offset fork, steeper seat tube angle – these are requirements for modern progressive riding. But not everyone jibs the same way, which is why the geo on the new Stumpjumper EVO is fully adjustable with six different settings. You can adjust the BB height by 10mm, you can adjust your head angle by two-degrees, and you can make these adjustments independently of each other. Finally, if you want to go full-party mullet-mode, the EVO lets you run a 27.5-inch rear wheel mated with a 29-inch front.

  • Rider-First Engineered™ frames use a size-specific approach to ride characteristics that ensures benchmark handling and flawless performance, regardless of frame or rider size. Whether you’re a jump-happy grom riding an S1, or a DH-fiend giant in need of the lengthy S6, you’ll experience the same ride traits – rail-sharp cornering and balanced front and rear stiffness – at the lightest-possible weight.

  • We introduced the SWAT™ door on the Stumpjumper in 2016, adding room IN your frame for those “oh sh**t” necessities like pumps and spare tubes, and immediately rendering jersey pockets redundant. With the new Stumpjumper, we have increased the volume and added a SWAT™ Bladder, giving you an extra 22oz of water storage – the same size as a small water bottle – hidden in your downtube.

One problem

This is a great bike, performs very well. But, the geo adjust headset is totally not worth it, most people are not changing their geo's. I would much prefer a non adjustable head tube angle around 64 or somewhere around there. The problem is that the headset is so creaky and Ive had to take it apart, clean, and grease multiple times in not even a year of owning the bike.

Great Bike

Have several rides on the bike now. It's not an xc race bike on the climbs but not bad at all. It more than makes up for it on the way back down though. Took a few rides to get the suspension dialed in but running nicely now.

Don't hesitate to buy

I was on the fence buying this bike as my goal was to get a bike that climbed better than my carbon 27.5 enduro bike. This is night and day better at climbing. The first real test I did was I rode a similar trail I've always enjoyed and rode 100 times on my old bike. This bike outperformed in almost every single way. The harder you push it the more it begs you to go faster and instills confidence. The only thing that was a small con was maneuverability in really tight switchbacks but I have skills to be gained in this area on a 27.5 anyway. Love the bike and loving it more with every ride I take.

Beginning to really enjoy this

Beginning to really enjoy this ride... Wasn't immediately apparent how much of an improvement the Stump jumper Evo was compared to my previous Bike, but the more I Ride it the more I appreciate it's comparative light weight and it's precision. It climbs well and descends better. A really fun Bike.

Sizing Input & Buying Insights

I was worried about sizing before buying because I bought without test riding. I'm 6'2" but only a 32" inseam - I'm all torso. I ordered an S5 because the top tube most aligned with my old bike. I utilized the dropper spacers to get the right fit (dropper has 20mm of adjustment via spacers which are included with the bike - they're not labeled or tagged so make sure to go through all the bags/parts that come with the bike). Once riding, not much of a learning curve coming from old geo. Bonus: the bike came with a digital shock pump Comes with SWAT tool and a tool bag and"J" shaped water bladder for in frame storage. Tubeless conversion was cake (rims are pre-taped) Complaints: Takes 7-10 days to ship. I didn't see that on the website before ordering. For this money, Specialized should throw in a water bottle, t-shirt, large window sticker or something. I guess that's the price to pay when ordering online vs bike shop. Specialized - can you send me a water bottle?

This bike is amazing!!

This bike is amazing!! I used to ride a cross country race bike and wanted something that would give me a bit more confidence on descents and boy did this deliver! I also was really impressed with how well it climbs considering how much better it is for descending than my old bike. 11/10!

Awesome Step Up From ‘22

The change in the bikes from 2022 to 2023 are big. It’s not just new color ways (although I’m OBSESSED with my Gloss Birch / Taupe). This bike comes with SRAM AXS electronic shifting which, admittedly, takes some getting used to. But there’s no denying it’s a huge upgrade. It brakes very well and responsively. The suspension is great but most significantly I noticed that there feels like there is far less pedal bob than when compared with last year’s Stumpy Pro. It doesn’t climb JUST like a hardtail, but it doesn’t jump around on you either. I’m between S3 and S4. I like to size up for stability and I did. It definitely feels secure on the trail but, even though I sized up, it still feels very snappy and nimble. Can’t recommend it enough!
