The Stumpjumper Alloy brings all-new suspension kinematics and progressive geometry into a full-alloy package that's both lightweight and extremely durable. Outfitted with a no-fuss SRAM SX 12-speed groupset, the Stumpjumper Alloy is your all-access pass for trail adventure.

  • THE TRAIL BENCHMARK — When we set out to design the all-new Stumpjumper, we pursued some hefty goals. It had to excel on any kind of trail, for every style of rider. To achieve that, we went after serious weight reduction without sacrificing durability, a stiff, responsive chassis that still rides light and lively, geometry that improves everyone’s riding, and the best suspension kinematics we know how to design. Turns out, you can have your cake and eat it too with the new Stumpjumper.

  • THE SWEETEST 130MM OF TRAVEL YOU’LL EVER RIDE — We massaged the kinematics of the Stumpjumper suspension to bring out the very best all-round performance possible in a 130mm package. Countless hours of suspension lab development and field testing created a refined mid-travel ripper that eats big terrain like a gravity fed beast, handles like a dream everywhere, and climbs like it has a motor.

  • PROGRESSIVE GEOMETRY — The S-Sizing geometry of the new Stumpjumper hits the progressive sweet spot. It’s long, low and slack, with a short offset fork and a steeper seat tube angle. These numbers combine to make your ride more stable, more carvealicious, more comfortable climbing, more better everywhere. With FlipChip adjustability you’re able to further fine-tune your fit, ensuring that your new Stumpjumper performs flawlessly on whatever terrain you choose.

  • RIDER-FIRST ENGINEERED™ — Rider-First Engineered™ frames use a size-specific approach to ride characteristics that ensures benchmark handling and flawless performance, regardless of frame or rider size. Whether you’re a jump-happy grom riding an S1, or a DH-fiend giant in need of the lengthy S6, you’ll experience the same ride traits – rail-sharp cornering and balanced front and rear stiffness – at the lightest-possible weight, And by light, we mean real light: 2,250 grams (S-Works, S-3 size, with rear shock).

Stumpjumper Alloy

Great bike to upgrade over time.... stock components perfectly decent, but frame is super compatible for gradual upgrading.

Fantastic, aggressive ride, some weak components

I've been riding this bike for 6 months and it is so much fun. The geometry is perfect (and adjustable), it's solid uphill and a total blast on the downs, especially on aggressive rocky terrain. It works fine out the box but is best thought of as a bike to upgrade over time. The Tektro brakes are a bit spongy and the powerspline crankset is heavy, while the rear shock is a bit limited. If you like to shop for upgrades, great; if you don't, perhaps consider the comp version.

Great bike, but flawed rear shock

This is my fourth mountain bike, 3rd full suspension one. I was drawn to this particular bike because of, well yes, mainly it's looks, but also the fact it has a threaded BB and sealed bearings in the wheel hubs. I have the S4, probably S5 would've been marginally better as I'm 6 foot, but S4 was the only one available in this barren wasteland of new bikes. The riding position is a bit too upright for my liking so have replaced the stem for an 80mm and fitted flat bars, replacing the 30mm riser bar. Bike feels much better with these changes. The biggest flaw on this bike though is the rear shock.. Lockout is pretty much non existent to a point where the lever position of open to close makes no difference whatsoever to the feel of the bike, this impacts on hill climbing greatly. Once I've replaced this, I think it will be the perfect bike for me.

Great bike with aggressive specs

This is my second MTB, first one is a $500 bike which can just do the job. But this one is superior, worth every penny I spent on it. I took it to ride as soon as it out of shop. Perfect

Paint very chip prone

I have had it for over 6 months. The matte paint quality is very poor on this one and this is the only reason I am giving it 3 stars. My recommendation is to cover up the entire frame and rear triangle with frame protector. Even If a small rock hits it, it will chip the paint off very easily.

I love this bike!

I ride this daily and it works downhill and i race xc on it. It's a beast! One bummer is it's heavy 35 lbs which is okay but you get what you pay for and your paying for good parts not low weight.

Great trail bike

I am glad I bought a new stumpjumper alloy. The bike performs great on northeast trails. Built very strong. The 2.3 wide tires float over the soft and rooty ground. Great bike.

A great bike

I choose to upgrade to FS and I will never look back. The bike is very smooth when riding technical terrain. I live in Texas so we do not have much elevation, but what I can say is that this bike can handle any Trail you throw at it, at least in Texas. Definitely recommend!

So far so good

Im new to MTBing so its hard to compare it to other bikes. I purchased it 3 months ago and have been riding it at least once a week. I can basically fly over any bump, jump or stone. The sx derailer did brake off and broke a few spokes today. Not sure why but apparently its common on the shram sx derailleur. So expect to replace the derailleur, which should be an easy upgrade. I purchased the stumpjumper because of its geometry, which is similar to other highly reviewed bikes.

best trail mountain bike ever for the price

I have been riding this bike for months now and it crushes all trails and jumps. it even handles downhill pretty well. one suggestion I would make is if you have the extra money, buy the comp edition for those rock shock forks and rear suspension. I ride almost every day and I love the geometry of this bike. low long and it handles so well in everything. I just wish it was easier to adjust the compression on the forks.

Phenomenal Trial Bike

5'10"" ride an S3 absolutely love it, nimble on the trail and wheels are big enough to eat up rocks and roots, suspension feels great too.

I would spend the extra $1000 for the comp

Eagle SX derailleur is junk. Mine snapped at the frame on my 7th ride. Like the bike but why cheap out with inferior derailleur parts on a mountain bike

Great Bike Minus the Shock

I am a first time full-suspension MTB rider and I love my 2021 Stumpy alloy. I have been riding it weekly and putting it to the test on many Southern Utah trails. In general, I haven't had any complaints about the components. The drivetrain, front fork, dropper post, and brakes have all been really solid for types of trails I ride. However, the rear shock appears to be the achilles heal of the bike. The X-fusion 02 Pro RL shock has been a complete drag....literally. Immediately after buying the bike and having the initial setup done by a reputable bike shop, I experienced numerous pedal strikes while climbing. After learning more about proper sag and buying a shock pump, I found I needed to put in approximately 20-30psi over my body weight (190llbs) to achieve proper sag of 30%. The supposed ""lockout"" is almost non-existent; you can essentially ride full-time in the lockout position because the shock compresses to about 90% of the travel compared to when it is open. While bearable, I think an entry-level, 2-position, Rock Shox shock would have made this bike perfect.

Capable piece of equipment

Pretty good bike, and great value for money in this price range. I do more XC riding than anything else but running the Stumpjumper with a higher rear shock PSI (about 250) works great on lockout, and then I just unlock it for downhill riding. Rear derailleur seems pretty weak and is my main complaint, but the upgrade to a GX Eagle seems pretty obvious and straightfoward.

Great Value Bike

This bike has great components, a threaded BB, Great tires that are tubeless ready and the rims have tubeless tape. Great value suspension and a decent drivetrain. this bike is in every way superior to the trek Fuel EX 5. Although I have seen the Hotwalk Carbon for half the price and i am feeling silly i did not get that bundle of value.

Great Bike

I've had this bike for 2 weeks got the S3 size perfect for me I'm 5'8"". Had the bike shop do the initial setup and I've been tweaking it since then. For the price this is a great bike, The feel is really good considering that this is my first FS bike this is a big upgrade from a hardtail, The front shocks are okay the rear shock I will upgrade later the drivetrain is okay for now but as it wears out I will be upgrading it. The frame is excellent with a tapered head tube and a threaded BB making it very easy to upgrade. I love the dropper post and I've put the flip chip on the higher setting I was having some pedal strikes, all in all it rides very good uphill down hill and through rough stuff.

A great entry-level bike with good bang for the buck

Returned to MB'ing after10 years, so not a beginner but new to all this new tech (disc brakes, dropper posts, better drivetrains...). This bike is perfect and a great value. At 6'1""and 167lbs I feel perfectly balanced and in control on the S4 size. A perfect bike to grow with. Handles anything I will put it through here in the Northeast.

Great value Trail Bike

Love my new Alloy Stumpy. Grip, geometry, size options are all excellent. Really pleased with the feel of the shock and fork. Only weak part seems to be the rear derailleur. Good to upgrade to the GX version when it needs changing out. In regards to MTB O's comment below my LBS were able to set this bike up as tubeless with no issues whatsoever. Stock wheels and tires.

Tubeless ready or not ?

I just purchased this bike and I was really excited, now I am a bit disappointed. I need a tubeless set up however the alloy model is not ? I was informed by local bike shop that they can not run tubeless on this set up. Can it be converted without spending hundreds of dollars more on new wheels ? It's disappointing.

First 2021 bought in Oklahoma City! I bought the Stumpjumper ST Alloy S4 I am 6 foot tall. Took it for a spin this evening. Perfect. Unbelievable for a so called base bike. Nothing base about this bike. . I will change the grips and pedals but that is it. Oh took the reflectors off. Let's just say I could have rolled over my neighbors car parked in the street. Lol Handled dirt and rocks like nothing. Can't wait to turn this SJ loose. Buy this Bike you will not regret it!! Heading to Bentonville. Will leave another review after the Rip Trip.
