When we developed the Tarmac, we didn't just want it to be fast. We wanted it to be fast everywhere. Long climbs, windy flats, Grand Tour stages, local fondos—we built a race bike to be the most complete out there. How'd we do it? We started with our Rider-First Engineered™ frame with a perfectly-tuned ride quality for every size, added in some serious aero tech that makes it 30 seconds faster than the Tarmac SL5 over 40 kilometers, and then made it 20% lighter. Nothing is lighter, faster, and better handling.

This Tarmac comes with a reliable spec that includes 10-speed Shimano Tiagra mechanical shifting, quick-stopping hydraulic disc brakes, durable Axis Sport Disc wheels, and our fan-favorite Power saddle.

  • For the construction of the Tarmac, we utilized advanced aerospace composite optimization software to revolutionize the construction and layup of our new FACT 9r carbon.

  • 500 pieces creating 7 different sizes with the same tuned ride–that’s Rider-First Engineered™. We examine every ply of carbon on every frame size to ensure that all of our performance targets come through. To make sure you get the perfect ride, every frame gets a unique layup schedule with different ply arrangements, orientations, quantities of material in specific areas, and sometimes, even exclusive thicknesses and types of carbon itself.

  • Aerodynamics is the most important thing we can do to make you faster, but with the Tarmac, we added aero features without any cost to weight. Through development, areas were discovered where we could add aero for free—a new fork shape and dropped seatstays with aero tubes. The result? A Tarmac that’s approximately 30 seconds faster over 40 kilometers.

  • The updated the geometry is based on countless Retül data points and professional rider input. This enabled us to develop a Performance Road Geometry that perfects the combination of a responsive front-end and short wheelbase, which delivers instantaneous response and optimal power transfer.

Amazing bike

3 years ago the SL6 was the only bike in the shop to choose from when I decided to start riding after 20 years off. I'm glad it was because 25,000 miles later I still love it. It has been up Whiteface Mt in NY 12 times, a few Cat 5 races, and I lead a couple Zwift rides in the winter. Comfortable on centuries and it even handled a muddy Tour of the Battenkill easily. I'm on my 3rd chain but the rest of the Tiagra drivetrain is original. I was breaking spokes a few months in and Specialized CS was awesome and sent a replacement wheelset to my LBS quickly. Worth every penny

Could not recommend this enough!

This is my second Specialized road bike (first being an Allez Elite). This bike us super quick. I cannot stay off of it. I"ve put about 200 miles on her and my split times just surprise me. Great value for the money. I was very hesitant to purchase since the groupset is Tiagra and prefer 105, but I am absolutely not disappointed. Shifts smooth as butter and has all the gears I'll need in Easter North Carolina. This bike easily out-performs by wife's Trek Domaine 5.

First Racing Road Bike

This bike does exactly what I need. Super lightweight right off the shelf, and the round tubing gives excellent balance and comfort. The mechanical Tiagra groupset works smoother than any other shifting I've used. Shifting on both the cassette and the chainrings is incredibly smooth. Having internal routing with the cables still exposed at the handlebar is preferred for me to keep maintenance costs down. The hydraulic disc brakes work flawlessly and I have complete control over my stopping power which is a gamechanger when riding in urban areas. Not to mention that this bike is FAST! Well worth the price for an extremely competitive bike at an introductory cost. The only thing I can see adding to my bike in the future is a nice set of carbon wheels.

awesome bike, flat out great

Comfortable, light, this is a beast. I've put 200 miles on it, and love it. It's quick and light enough I've yet to shift off the large chainring. Smooth shifting, great brakes, I really can't see needing more bike for the average recreational rider. Highly recommend.

Great Road Bike

I put about 300 miles on this bike so far. The Tiagra groupset does works well and performed better than I thought it would. Very quick on climbs and descents.

Best Bike ever !!!

Love this bike!!! Super light and super fast. One year using it and loving it… only problems I had was a flat tire when I transferred from the road to the sidewalk. Otherwise is a 10/10
