Helmets have long been plagued by an unspoken rule: Light weight, ventilation, aerodynamics—pick two, there's your helmet. As you can tell by now, though, we don't play by these rules—or really any for that matter. We'd rather turn standards on their head and create products that nobody ever dreamed of. And you needn't look any further than the new S-Works Evade helmet for proof of this. Straight up, it's the fastest road helmet out there.

Beginning with the aerodynamic development, we basically lived in our Win Tunnel to create this Evade. Having our own wind tunnel allows us to develop our products with aero at the forefront of the design, rather than merely testing them there. With this, we carefully analyzed every aspect of helmet performance in the Win Tunnel, and with real world testing, to ensure that we left no stone unturned in the quest for performance. This makes for a helmet that has countless testing hours and years of development, and ultimately, this adds up to the fastest road helmet we've ever tested.

We not only took grams out of the drag, but we did it without sacrificing safety. In fact, we switched the construction to favor our Energy Optimized Multi-Density EPS that optimizes the foam type in different places. As far as ventilation is concerned, free-flowing air through the helmet not only makes the helmet cooler than ever, but it also decreases aerodynamic drag. Going hand-in-hand with this, ventilation and aerodynamics were both optimized in the Win Tunnel together, making for the best combination of aerodynamics and ventilation out there. Now, the exterior vents and interior channels have been carefully considered to make sure that the helmet draws in the maximum amount of air through the helmet for extreme cooling. And the result? The new Evade is just as cool as a bare head with no helmet, making it the coolest aero helmet on the market today.

Through this work, the Evade saves 50 seconds over 40km versus a traditional road helmet and roughly six seconds over the prior iteration of Evade. This means that it's not only as cool as a bare head, but also as fast. For road race helmets, there's nothing that can match this performance.

Last, but most certainly not least, a fast helmet is useless unless it fits correctly. With this in mind, the new S-Works Evade has all the features you'd expect from a top-level helmet, like our Mindset HairPort 2 fit system with micro-adjustments, our soft webbing that won't stretch out, and a new Gutter Action brow pad that manages sweat to keep it out of your eyes. And to top it off, we've added a new magnetic buckle to the mix that makes buckling with one hand a breeze.

  • Through extensive Win Tunnel development, the Evade is the fastest road helmet we've tested.

  • 4th Dimension Cooling System with deep internal channels, large vents, and aligned exhaust ports make it the best combination of aerodynamics and ventilation.

  • Patented Energy Optimized Multi-Density EPS construction helps to manage impact energy.

  • Patented Aramid-Reinforced Skeleton provides internal EPS support to help manage impact energy.

  • Ultra-light Mindset HairPort II micro-dial fit system with height adjustability for the perfect fit.

  • Gutter Action brow pad design for increased comfort and sweat management.

  • Thin, soft, and lightweight 4X DryLite webbing won’t stretch out with sweat or water.

  • Tri-Fix web splitter for improved comfort and ease of strap adjustments.

  • Instrap webbing system for ultra-light construction and security.

  • Magnetic buckle is simple and secure.

Snazzy & good quality helmet. Love the magnetic strap.

The color and look is great. Quality helmet. I gave it a 4 star because the fit (straps) don't fit exactly (customizable) The straps around the ear is not adjustable so the fit could be a little better. I'm a female with a smaller head. Other than that, it's great.

Love This Helmet!!

I just purchased this from Specialized Costa Mesa Store. I absolutely love this helmet. There aerodynamics on this are amazing and I literally feel like I'm in a wind tunnel with it when I go downhill. Can totally tell the difference from the previous helmet I had. Also it doesn't make my neck sore either. Doesn't even feel like it's there. Thanks Specilaized for making a great product.

Helmet saved my head.

In Oct. I was unfortunately hit by a car and thank goodness I was wearing my S-Works Evade... it's the best fitting helmet I own with the most coverage of my head as well. The helmet dented on impact and I had no neck or head issues, so it's safe to say I'll be buying another one real soon. I was already happy with it's performance feel and aero qualities before safety even came to mind, so a great race helmet in my opinion.

The best got better

I really liked the first edition of the Evade, I went thru a couple models because I wore them out. I didn't realize what Could make the first model better until I rode the Evade II. The new model breathes soooo much better. I can't vouch for if it's more aero, but it sure feels that way. The magnetic buckle is also pretty sweet. Easy and super secure. A feature I didn't know I needed! Helmet fits my head great too. It's my first choice when I hit the road to ride.

because it actually protected my head

I love this helmet for the fit and comfort, but i crashed into a construction sign in a race yesterday going 25 mph. the helmet took the brunt of the crash. it cracked but my head did not. it even stayed on my head. glad to have a cracked helmet and not a cracked skull.

Fit is killing this helmet

I just received my Evade II today from my local bike shop. I bought this helmet in size large based off of the fit of the Evade I in size large. I am most definitely not a size medium helmet and even tried on both the Evade I and Prevail II in size medium. They were both far too small. So I ordered the Evade II and thought that everything with the fit would be the same, and the Specialized rep for my LBS actually said that there was no difference in fit between the Evade I and the Evade II. WRONG! The Evade I size large fits heads 57-63cm. The Evade I fit perfectly! I thought it would be the same for the Evade II, and so did my LBS. In fact, the Evade II actually fits heads 59-63cm. This unneeded change has now put me right in the middle where a medium is too small, and the large is basically a bit too big for me! I'm not returning this to get an Evade I because I love the updates and look of the Evade II, but this is seriously irritating. This could be fixed (possibly) with thicker pads, but it looks like the extra pads that came with the helmet are the exact same, and thicker pads aren't offered by Specialized. So, if you have a big head and order this helmet in a size large, just know that the fit could be completely trash due to this unneeded change in fitting size.

likely saved my life too...

I've had the EVADE 1 for 2 years and loved it. It's my go-to helmet on days that expected to be fast rides, expecting to go for PRs. The weight and fit are perfect with good ventilation, even on hot days. Yesterday, I hit a deer at 30 mph (me, not the deer). Flew over handlebars, landing on left shoulder coracovicular joint/scapula and left side of head. Broke scapula, and broke Evade helmet in 3 places. Deer had no helmet, unfortunately and had to be put down. Me... I've got no concussion and no head injury... although alot of sore neck and shoulder muscles. So, I""m back today buying the Evade 2 (Evade one no longer in stock) - the helmet is now ""tested"" and likely saved my life if not at least a big concussion. Thank you, Specialized design team!

The fastest helmet ever!

I've ridden countless types of road helmets. The Evade II is the fastest of them all. Specialized developed two distinct helmets to suit their flagship bikes - the Tarmac and the Venge. The Prevail with more ventilation is better suited to run with the Tarmac - a bike perfect for slow mountainous climbing stages where heat extraction is paramount. The Evade II helmet on the other is better suited for the Venge the ultimate weapon for sprinters on flat stages where aero is everything. As as a Venge rider I cherish the aero design of the Evade. It has less vents than the Prevail which means smoother aero. The Evade II has vents designed like a Formula 1 car's side pods to cool the radiators. I can feel the air moving inside the helmet to cool my head. It's also very stable with no fidgeting at high speed. No wind noise which helps concentration a lot. The shape is very sexy reminds of a Ferrari sleek curved silhouette. It must be said there are times during unplanned uphill climbs or at lower speeds I wish I had more vents. When there is less ram air passing through the helmet I can feel spots of heat build up on the head. It's not a lot of heat but noticeable. I need to maintain momentum on the bike to keep the air flow consistent inside the helmet. The faster you go the more it rewards you. The Evade is better on high speed flats which goes well with the Venge. Peter Sagan switched to the Prevail when he rode his Tarmac on the mountain stages of Tour de France 2018, then used the Evade while riding his Venge on the sprint stages. It is a balancing act when it comes to your set up which makes it fun. I am thankful Specialized made this helmet an option for crazy aero guys like me because #aeroiseverything and #iamspecialized

This helmet saved my life!

This past weekend, June 23, 2018, I was in a 52 mile gravel race in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. At about mile 32, in a very brief moment, I took one of my hands off the handlebar to look behind me and in that split second hit a patch of thicker gravel and I was down. I was traveling about 20 mph, hit my head (the right frontal area) on the ground, followed by my face, arm and leg. The helmet preformed beautifully and took the blow. I was scrapped up and bleeding, but I was able to finish the race (5th overall!). I honestly believe that looking at the damage to the helmet and the location of the blow, it truly saved my life. The bummer was that I had just bought the helmet 2 days before and this was only my second ride with it. I have already bought another and hoping not to find out how well it works again. On a more technical level, the helmet felt cool and very comfortable while riding with it. Overall a great helmet!!!

Speed, Ventilation, Comfort, & Sweat Handling -- Awesome!

After spending hours pouring over internet reviews I went to the bike store yesterday and bought the new Evade II. Today I got to try it out for a 45 mi ride in 95'F heat. As a heavy sweater, I've tried every headband, skull cap, and sweat handling idea imaginable for preventing head sweat from streaming down my forehead and face. Nothing worked for longer than about 30 minutes, until today. Between the excellent head ventilation and Specialized's new Gutter Action brow pad, I rode 3 hrs straight without a drop of head sweat down my face or on my sunglasses, which have always needed constant wiping, so I am thrilled with this helmet. Add in the cool Candy Red look, an extremely comfortable fit, and the very fast magnetic chin strap for the triathlon, and I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase.
