You know what they say—when the grams go away, speed comes out to play. Benefiting from the lightest EVO frame we've ever created and the most aggressive iteration of our Progressive XC Geometry to date, the S-Works Epic EVO made a few calls and assembled a dream team supporting cast to offer a 'capability-to-weight' ratio that skips impressive and jumps straight to flat-out mind-blowing.

While the Epic EVO sees a seemingly modest 20-millimeter increase in suspension travel up front over its Epic stablemate and just 10-millimeters out back, we've worked overtime to make sure it's been implemented in a way that'll have you saying 'Whoa!' as soon as you hit your first stretch of singletrack.

Meticulously engineered to retain as much of the Epic's standard-setting efficiency as possible, the EVO's new suspension kinematics work in concert with Rx XC Tune customized suspension front and rear to ensure you're able to make the absolute most out of every inch of travel on tap, while still offering increased anti-squat characteristics for improved pedaling efficiency.

With plenty of practice at staying ahead of the curve, the Epic EVO now lays claim to the most capable iteration of our Progressive XC Geometry ever to grace an Epic. It's also more versatile than ever thanks to a new flip chip-equipped rear end that allows riders to adjust headtube angle and bottom bracket height to easily customize Epic EVO's handling characteristics.

For the S-Works Epic EVO we also made sure that every last component to have the honor of gracing its FACT 12m carbon frame was just as dedicated to finding the ultimate balance of lightness, efficiency and hard-charging capability. For proof, just take a look at the seemingly logic-defying, stiffer-lighter-stronger masterpiece that is the new Roval Control SL wheelset, and SRAM's XC-light yet trail-tough electronic XX1 Eagle AXS group and wireless electronically-actuated Reverb AXS dropper post.

  • Flip It To Rip It: Tune the ride of the Epic EVO’s FACT 12m carbon frame to match your preferred handling characteristics with flip-chip simplicity that allows riders to steepen the EVO’s headtube angle by half a degree while raising the bottom bracket height by six millimeters.

  • Pairing the stiff yet lightweight SID Ultimate chassis with RockShox's lightest-ever Charger Race Day damper makes for quite the package, impressively cutting weight while still managing to pack in truly impressive levels of performance, precision and control.

  • The pinnacle of drivetrain performance, SRAM's XX1 Eagle AXS combines next-gen wireless technology, incredibly accurate shift performance and game-changing versatility to drastically redefine the riding experience.

  • Created specifically to match both the weight savings and increased capability of the S-Works Epic and S-Works Epic EVO, the Roval Control SL rim introduces a completely new offset rim profile that features a 29-millimeter-wide internal width and not only increases strength and reduces weight, but also improves pinch-flat resistance by 22-percent.

Not cheap but worth it 👍

Purchased mine 11/2020 and so far have Just under 5k dirt miles on it and 500k of climbing. I’ll have to say that it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned. My previous bikes have been 2 Epics with brains and Wasn’t particularly in love with them. I truly like being able to turn on and off the suspension at will. It’s very easy to reach down and flip my rear suspension on or off - even when riding. The AXS shifting and dropper have worked flawlessly for a year now, and the Eagle drivetrain is solid as a rock. I will never go back to non-AXS shifting as this is so easy and effortless to shift and drop/raise my seat. The only thing I would change is to add some screws/holes for a THIRD water bottle cage - if they changed the front down tube so it could hold 2 regular (not large) bottles, you could put a large bottle in the seat down tube and now have 3 water cages for longer rides. 👍

First and last

I don't write reviews. I just don't, but every time I'm on the trails with my S-Works Epic Evo I want to write a love letter to the people behind the design and build of this bike. Since my first Specialized Stumpjumper in the late 80's and a dozen of mountain bikes from Marin, Titus, Pivot, etc, since then for all sorts of rides I can truly say that this bike could be the last MTB that I buy. It is light, fast, balanced, and responsive. It seriously feels like there's a motor hidden in this thing it is so fast. The only downsides I feel that are worth mentioning are the stock saddle's carbon rail snapped on a particularly aggressive climb/decent - replaced no problem on warranty - and the stock back tire was a little too delicate for our rocky terrain in SoCal and blew out with a sidewall cut on my first ride.

Perfect

It should be the perfect bike if it had the remote suspension and fork lock. I ordered my bike to install the rock shox twist lock. And it was perfect.

My Favorite Epic So Far

To me this is the perfect bike for riding back country all day and covering as much of it as possible. It so light (22 lb with XT pedals - L) it feels like it rolls by itself. It climbs like a raced out Epic but the added travel keeps it from wearing me down on a long ride over any terrain. It's efficient, fast and comfortable. A hard combination to beat.
