The all-new Rapide Cockpit is a lot more than just the fastest way to the finish line. It’s the fastest leading edge we’ve ever made, putting aero gains in the clean air, where they matter most and shaving four watts off the already ultra-quick two piece Rapide Bar and Tarmac SL7 Stem. But to deliver a leading edge that provides a winning edge takes more than pure aero. The goal for the Roval engineering team was simple—the Rapide Cockpit had to be the fastest bar we’ve ever made, with no compromises. It’s aero, light, stiff, and designed hand-in-hand with the best riders in the world and our Retül fit experts so you can get a grip on victory.

AERODYNAMIC: Removing the cluster of hardware (where stem and handlebar connect) allowed us to design the bar’s leading edge a single airfoil. We optimized this airfoil to provide a maximum advantage in clean air at speeds seen from long solo breakaways to full gas World Tour sprints. While a four watt improvement may seem small, it adds up to a 32cm lead over a 250m final sprint. When races are won by bike throws, this is a winning difference.

LIGHT AND STIFF: By removing the stem’s hardware cluster the Rapide Cockpit is 50 grams lighter (100mm x 420mm) than a two piece Rapide bar and Tarmac SL7 combo. Made from premium high-modulus carbon fiber, that delivers ideal stiffness for the biggest, fastest sprinters on the World Tour, the Rapide Cockpit has a higher stiffness-to-weight ratio than any two piece system we’ve ever made.

FIT: The downside of one-piece cockpits has long been fit, but we partnered with our Retül fit professionals and the best riders in the world to ensure almost every rider can find their fit. We offer 15 different stem and bar combos, all at -6 degree, so we’ve got your race day position covered. The radius from tops to drops has been sculpted for wrist clearance whether out of the saddle in a final sprint or tucked in an aero position, while bend and flare reflect our favorite Rapide bar.

If you are building your bike with the Rapide Cockpit, you must have at least 40mm of steerer tube above the last headset spacer for the cockpit to fit and function properly.

  • Aerodynamically engineered to save 4 watts vs a traditional aero road bar

  • Sizes: 15 combos from (75mm x 380mm) to (125mm x 440cm)

  • Bend: 127mm drop x 75mm reach, 4 degrees of flare at the drops

  • Steer Clamp Diameter: 1"1/8, Steer Clamp Height: 40mm (SW Tarmac stem steer clamp height: 31mm)

  • Weight: 310 grams (100mm x 420mm)

Only the Most Minor of Issues

I bought these bars to put on a build-up of a frame from another manfacturer, and I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. They're light, ride pretty comfortably, and have great feel when you're riding on the hoods. The issues I have are -- the Barfly insert for holding Wahoo computers doesn't "click" when you twist it in, so the computer never feels fully secure. The computer mount itself only has one screw, so if if gets loose or falls out, you're boned. And the shape of the transition between the flat bar top and the drops is weirdly-shaped enough (and with the placement of the holes for cable routing) that it makes wrapping the bars an exercise in patience. Like I said -- these are minor issues. The bar, overall, is worth the money.

Great set of handlebars, firm yet comfortable and look great too

Fitted as upgrade to my SL7 which had aluminium bars. These are a real improvement in firmness and comfort. Also light weight and integrate well to frame.Tricky to fit as needed to remove widget at end of the brake hose and replace, but understand why. Only disappointment is that I had to buy separately from elsewhere the adapter for SL7 ~£5, not well highlighted and bit poor given overall cost .

Like the bar geo!

The bar has the best geometry that I've used. I fitted the Rapide cockpit to my Crux. It looks and rides great!

Ultimatifies Tarmac SL7 & 8

Beautiful, functional, perfect fit. Added to my SL7 with 3D print transition spacer. Had 2mm spacer above the SL7 stem+cover, fatefully leaving the ideal amount of steerer tube available for these, and keeps the bars at exactly the same height. A dozen (!) fewer parts than SL7 stem + Rapide bar. Feels super solid, connected yet muted. Can be distracting from hazards and traffic - look at the road, stop admiring your barstem!

Different finishes

I purchased two sizes due to the lack of availability. Shops keep saying availability is between Jan 2024 and Mid 2024. Ridiculous on Specialized end. At first I could only get 100x420mm. I would settle with this size if mid 2024 availability was true. I was able to source 100x400 after a few days. The first set 100x420mm does not have a coating (clear gloss). I'm aware it might scratch easy but I prefer the finish. The second set 100x400mm is coated with a clear gloss. No update or info was provided on the two available finishes. Sourcing these bars has been a headache. When you order and they arrive next year, you might get gloss or you might get matte.

Not 6 degree and the GPS mount is tilt down

It is said 6 degree but in reality it works as if 12 degree. The "stem" is completely flat and ironically the GPS mount is tilted down becoz of that, and it makes it hard to read the screen with lot of reflections.

Very happy w these

Upgraded my SL7 with these from the stock handle bars and stem. I love these and the feel great. It also cured my numb hands. The stock handlebars were too narrow. Now I can rest my hands on the flat middle and it feels good. No more tingly fingers or nerve pain. I rode for 30 miles with no gloves on the same course that used would give me nerve pain. Upgrading from the stock handlebars I definitely noticed the weight change immediately! The specialized stores can order and install the stem spacers for the SL7 so it looks perfect. I think the spacers were like $4.99 or something cheap. Although it goes from rectangular shape to circular. It would look better if your head tube is cut and your bars are lower. Mine isn’t yet and still looks great.

Does not fit SL7

Does not fit SL7!! Height of steer tube clamp is 10mm higher and does not match the default spacer contours and does not have the cable holder. Have order a new un-cut fork, 3-d print a spacer and jury rig the cable routing.

Is this a Joke??

Is it so difficult to make a handlebar who fits a rider who use One spacer?? Tarmac SL7 on speciaized.com have the same spacer on the picture. The new stem is higher and will be dangerous to use.

Should include the spacer!

Nice bars but was surprised the SL7 spacer isn’t included. It also isn’t available for order here. Makes zero sense for a $600 item. Also beware of the flared drops. I got a 44cm since that’s what I normally use but now I’m on the hunt for 42s. These are just too wide for me in the drops.

Will NOT fit SL7

The New Roval Cockpit will not fit the SL7 with one spacer. The earlier SL7 stem are lower than the new stem, and you must buy a new fork to make it fit.

Hydraulic Line Issue

Hydraulic lines hang down. Doesn’t have the clamp underneath as the original SL7 stem. Also, can’t use the last molded spacer. Come on Specialized. Looks completely aftermarket on my SWorks. Returning product

Doesn’t transition to SL7

This cockpit does not transition well with Tarmac SL7 !! 👎👎 Specialized rep says spacers for SL7 may become available mid-July 😖 I wouldn’t have purchased if I knew this upfront

Doesn't fit slammed SL7

With required top and bottom SL7 transition spacers, the top clamping bolt sits 10MM above stem.
