1974 to 2024: A 50-Year Tradition of Innovation

As Specialized celebrates its 50th Anniversary of innovating to improve riders’ lives, we have our sites set on the next half century and creating the future of cycling. Join us as we look back at five decades of innovation so we can continue to Pedal the Planet Forward together.

Smoother is Faster

Smoother is Faster

Smoother is faster comes from suspending the rider, not the bike. As rough roads impact your Roubaix, our all-new Future Shock 3.0 and AfterShock technology keep you floating above the chaos - reducing impacts by 53% vs. the nearest competition.

Pioneering Endurance Geometry

Pioneering Endurance Geometry

The Roubaix’s endurance geometry delivers an “IN” the bike, not “ON” the bike feel that’s ideal for long rides. It relieves stress from your hands, arms, and shoulders, yet is ready to dissect any twisting mountain descent at full gas.

More Clearance, More Capable

More Clearance, More Capable

With tyre clearance up to 40 mm, this endurance road machine delivers better traction than ever on rough roads and even light gravel. We’ve given it every mount your adventures could need—three bottle mounts, top-tube mounts, and it’s even fender-ready.

Aero and Lightweight at the top of the Class

Aero and Lightweight at the top of the Class

The new Roubaix SL8 is our most aero yet, with new fork shaping, a reimagined downtube, and dropped seat stays. At just 825 grams, the frame is 50 grams lighter, utilizing lessons learned from the Aethos and our premium Fact 12r carbon blend. Nothing in its class is faster or lighter.

Peter Sagan’s Choice

Peter Sagan’s Choice

Roubaix with Future Shock was a game-changer for Peter Sagan as he chased Paris-Roubaix glory. But don’t take our word for it. Hear the 2018 Champion of the Hell of the North himself tell us exactly why he’s a fan of the Roubaix.

Annika Langvad’s Ride

Annika Langvad’s Ride

What does the greatest XC marathon racer in history choose when she hits the road? Roubaix, of course. Annika Langvad tells us why the Roubaix is her bike of choice to deliver race-level performance on the long days she loves.

We created the endurance road category two decades ago proving that high ergonomics means high performance. Today, the new Roubaix SL8 with Future Shock 3.0 is lighter, faster, and smoother than any road bike ever made, unleashing unmatched confidence. The road may be hell below, but on Roubaix, it’s always heaven above.

  • COMPLIANCE: Future Shock 3.0 is the star of the show, more tunable, adjustable, and durable than ever. Now, regardless of position on the bike, every rider experiences 20mm of smooth, stiction-free travel between the stem and head tube. Future Shock helps keep your hands and bars steady for a smoother ride with more control to stay fast, safe, and confident.

  • Our dropped clamp design exposes more seatpost to increase deflection, but “more” isn’t simply better. The Pavé seatpost controls that deflection for the optimal vertical compliance. Together they create AfterShock technology, and when paired with the Roubaix’s rigid rear triangle, deliver a smooth ride with no loss in efficiency.

  • The Roubaix SL8 is the smoothest road bike our Ride Science Team has ever tested—reducing impacts at the bars and saddle by 53% vs. the nearest competition. With Roubaix’s Future Shock 3.0 the wheel quickly moves over the bump, while rider mass remains stable, maintaining momentum in rough terrain. Typical forks deflect backward on impact, causing a measurable loss in speed. It’s a scientific fact, smoother is indeed faster.

  • CAPABILITY: The Roubaix pioneered endurance geometry, so you ride “IN” the bike, not “ON” the bike to relieve pressure on your hands, arms, and shoulders for capability and confidence on any road, yet it’s ready to dissect a mountain decent at full gas. Snuggle up.

  • With tire clearance up to 38c/40mm, this endurance road machine delivers better traction than ever on rough roads and even light gravel. Thanks to lightweight, super-efficient Specialized tires, that extra tire volume and traction comes with no downsides.

  • Roubaix inspires really BIG days on the bike, so we’ve given it every mount your adventures could need—three bottle mounts, top-tube mounts, and it’s even fender-ready. So, go ahead and bring it all along for the ride.

  • PERFORMANCE: The new Roubaix SL8 is our most aero yet, with new aero shapes from our Free Foil library and dropped seat stays. At just 950 grams, the frame is lighter, utilizing lessons learned from the Aethos - the world’s lightest production frame - and Fact 10r carbon blend. Nothing in its class is faster or lighter than the Roubaix.

Shoud of waited

Run don't walk, $500 more for the Comp, (it's on sale, $1000 off, as of date of this post) you get Di2 and hydraulic futureshock, vs spring loaded. Now having said that, My 105, what a great entry level bike. Don't know how they did it, but the rear feels more compliant than my 2021 Diverge comp. The 105 is adequate and shifts nicely, not as smoothly as the GRX, Ultegra grade drivetrain on the Diverge Comp under load on inclines. On flats, difference isn't so much.(Keeping the Diverge. Here's my flame, who decided single speed is better, so glad I have the 2 speed GRX on the Diverge, I know off topic.) Ok, the ride was compliant as it arrived, moved the carbon Terra C's from the Diverge to the Roubaix, paved expansion joints, 50% less harshness, the Eaton Sl70 bars , a bit better, but not exponentially better than stock, prefer the Hover. The cockpit and slack are remarkably similar to the Diverge, the biggest departure is the rear chainstay, it's about 20mm shorter on the Roubaix.

A Great Ride

I don’t like proprietary parts on simple machines, such as a bicycle. However, Future Shock has been a nice addition. Surprisingly, I don’t notice bobbing of the handlebar, but definitely notice a smooth ride over otherwise bumpy roads and trails. One word of caution, be sure to have your order delivered to a Specialized owned bike shop to ensure good service. My order was handled improperly by an independent shop and Specialized took care of it by sending me to one they own to reduce the assembly. I wish they would do more to highlight which delivery options are Specialized owned.

Specialized Roubaix SL8 Sport 105

This bike is simply a joy to ride. Had an issue with delivery of bike, not I may add Specialized's fault but TNT/FedEx. Very helpful website chat with Henry who chased up the delivery issue for me. On delivery, the right shifter was sticking out the box with slight cosmetic damage to the lever. Alison, via website chat helped alleviate this minor issue by sending me the Proprietary Specialized Stems Accessory Mount as requested. Five star customer support from Specialized.
