Pressure Mapping Performance

Pressure Mapping Performance

We pioneered the use of pressure mapping to validate our solutions are providing real rider benefit and are backed by real science. Pressure mapping shows how different Body Geometry saddles solve rider problems, from soft tissue pressure to sit bone pain, in any riding position.

The Phenom Pro is a mountain bike saddle that's designed with our Adaptive Edge base construction, allowing the outer-edge to conform to your body for a near-custom fit. Lightweight and expertly tuned for stiffness and efficiency, the Phenom features a rounded, anti-snag tail and the perfect amount of padding for mountain riding.

On this model, we've replaced the traditional PU padding in favour of an Elaston foam construction that's made up of small beads that are expanded into the foam. The result? The feeling off sitting on 1,000 miniature pillows rather than one piece of foam. And to keep the comfort coming, we rely on our extra-wide, elongated Body Geometry channel and short nose to provide you with proper sit bone support.

  • Patented Body Geometry design is lab-tested to assure blood flow to sensitive arteries.

  • Elaston foam provides unrivalled comfort and support on longer rides.

  • Low-friction panels on the nose and tail improve pedalling efficiency and mobility while moving on and off the saddle.

  • Ultra-light, strong, and oversized FACT carbon rails.

  • Level II padding: Medium density foam for bike feel with additional cushioning.

  • Size 143mm / Weight 207g

  • Size 155mm / Weight 219g

  • NOTE: Oversized 7x9mm carbon rails are not compatible with seatposts equipped with side-load clamp mechanisms for 7mm round rails.

A new paradigm

It took a few rides to really notice, but this is the greatest upgrade imaginable. It turns out that I have been riding on a foam-covered brick for the last 15 years and had no idea that a saddle could actually make a ride better. Some good things: 1) the wings move with my hips, so the support is not dependent on my legs and but conforming to the saddle. Instead, it feels like the saddle is almost wrapped around my legs and butt;2) the nose is cushy in just the right spots and is the right size to almost disappear when I am riding; 3) the cut out placement actually receives pressure. I am not sure my old saddle did after feeling what the phenom does. Some not as good things; 1) Elaston is NOT riding on a hundred little pillows. This is a foam pad on a bicycle and while it is comfortable, I doubt the different between Elaston and regular foam would be noticable to most people. Save money and downgrade a little; 2) the oversize carbon rails take a bit of getting used to as they are super shock absorbing. I feel like I have to check the saddle a few times during a ride to make sure the seat is not broken. I imagine this will lessen over time, but I do feel like I have broken the saddle on every ride so far. All in all, this was a great purchase. I used to think my old saddle was tailor made for my butt, but after just a few rides, the phenom is more comfortable. I wish I bought it years ago.
