The S-Works EXOS EVO is the lightest off-road shoe we’ve ever created. Our world-class design team developed a proprietary Dyneema® layup that drastically lowered the weight of the upper while simultaneously maximizing strength and increasing pliancy to create a 232g featherweight racing shoe for all terrain, with none of the weight.

To secure the foot we’ve used the newly released BOA®Li2 dial, featuring an increased level of micro-adjustment, a lower profile, and a refined ergonomic design to give riders the ability to precisely tune their fit. We’ve paired this precision fit with a reimagined toe box, which uses a sleeve that stretches comfortably over the top of the toes and forefoot while maintaining room for movement and flexion.

The S-Works EXOS EVO also features the XC FACT carbon sole. Our stiffest and lightest off-road plate to date, the XC FACT sole has a stiffness index of 13.0. Which means all your power goes right to the pedals. And Like all our shoes, the S-Works EXOS EVO is built on the foundation of Body Geometry—to boost power, increase efficiency, and reduce the risk of injury by optimizing hip, knee, and foot alignment. With a proprietary Dyneema® upper that comfortably wraps the foot without compromising hold, it’s also the most comfortable XC race show we’ve ever made.

  • Built with Purpose. Backed by Science. Our Body Geometry trio of the Longitudinal Arch, Metatarsal Button, and Varus Wedge work together to increase efficiency, optimize hip, knee, and foot alignment, and reduce injury risks.

  • Our stiffest and lightest XC FACT carbon plate maximizes power transfer: Stiffness Index 13.0

  • Lightest weight XC shoe on the market at only 464 grams: 232 grams (1/2 pair, Size 42)

  • A revolutionary Dyneema® Mesh allows us to achieve weight without sacrificing hold for the ultimate connection and comfort.

  • BOA®Li2 dial for on-the-fly micro-adjustment, backed by the Boa Guarantee.

  • SlipNot™ rubber heel and toe tread for confident traction on all terrain with removable toe studs.

  • Titanium alloy cleat nuts can rotate to position pedal/cleats 5mm rearward.

  • Added Mudguard TPU layer for additional protection and durability.

  • Form Fit last with a Warp Sleeve vamp for the ultimate in connectivity, comfort, and speed.

  • Two-bolt cleat pattern fits all major MTB pedals.

Obviously incredibly light but also

Obviously incredibly light but also absolutely amazingly comfortable. What I found a little annoying is that a shoe horn is required to get them on due to the supplness of the rear of the shoe. This isn’t disastrous and could manage without but I’d highly recommend not using the little tab by the heel to pull them on with. Actually this part of the shoe is superfluous and serves no practical purpose. Overall best shoe I’ve ever owned and well worth the spend.

Not really a fan of these shoes, but...

These shoes are very light, and Specialized has made a lot of tradeoffs to achieve that. There's almost no structure to them (especially the heel) and I find them pretty annoying to get on. As many reviewers have mentioned, the heel pulls rip off almost immediately. The boas are also lightweight and don't operate as smoothly as the regular ones in my experience. I always feel like they are going to break, but with almost daily use I haven't had any issues yet (knock on wood). So in general, this shoe's usability is sub par. However, I have wide feet and find the toebox on this shoe accommodates the widest part of my foot very well. I tried a few different shoe models (including a couple wide shoes from other brands) and found these most comfortable on long rides, so I'm kind of dealing with all the stuff I don't like... including the cost. Would I prefer a $200 shoe that's a little heavier that fits just as well? Yeah. Have I found that yet? Nope.

First Ride Review

Splurged and shelled out the bucks for these shoes, in the hopes of avoiding the pressure on toes and other points on my feet that other shoes have historically caused. The upper is made of a material almost like rubbery thin canvas. On my first ride, the shoes proved to be extremely comfortable, like nothing else I have tried. That flexible upper is just great. Also the easiest bike shoes I have ever walked in. So, bottom line, very innovative shoes and so far working great. The only downside I found is that they are hot (that rubbery upper does not seem to breathe). Full disclosure I live in Texas, so maybe not an issue in cooler climes, but after a couple of hours riding here the shoes were full of sweat. They got a good first ride baptism.

Yes, these are very nice!

These shoes are amazing. Very light, good air flow. On the negative side, they are wildly expensive. This is how I justified it, maybe it'll work for you you too. SKU boots are twice as expensive, and you still buy those, right? So, indulge, you'll be happy you did.

Another broken heel pull to report

Looks like I'm not the only one with this issue... Ripped the heel strap clean off when putting the shoe on for the very first ride. And it's not like I was tugging on it any more than what's reasonable. I mean I was literally just using one finger and a thumb for goodness sake. Aside from that, these are probably the most comfortable MTB shoes that I have owned, and I am willing to live with the broken heel strap. But please Specialized, please come up with a more robust solution.

Feels like wearing slippers

I have both the EXOS road shoe and the EXOS MTB shoe. I didn't get them because of weight. I got them because, for my feet, they are the most comfortable with no pressure points. The joint on my little toe is pressured in most shoes and starts killing me after a couple of hours. And I have tried lots of brands- Shimano, Bont, Lake, Giro. Wide and regular widths. And they all hurt my toe. Shimano were the worst because they all appear to have a seam directly above my toe joint. The S works 7 shoes fit ok in the toe but they rub against my ankle bone and the upper are really stiff. The EXOS solve all those problems for me. Wearing them is like wearing slippers. And, for me at least, they are plenty stiff and have plenty of heel hold. These are the most comfortable (and expensive) shoes that I have ever had.

Awesome shoes, almost.

Amazing shoes, but just not wide enough platform to hold my foot comfortably. Pull out the footbed and put your foot on it. They just need to be wider and I would buy no other shoe but these. Maybe good for soccer players that had their feet bound in cleats growing up.

Absoluter Hammerschuh! :)

Der Beste Schuh den ich je hatte. Exzellente Passform, mann spürt ihn fast gar nicht am Fuß, perfekte Passform, super Kraftübertragung auf dem Pedal. 246g in Größe 45.

Comfortable shoe with weak heel pull tab

It is such a comfortable shoe that I can firmly tighten and ride for hours without foot hot spots. Not to mention it is the lightest MTB shoe. However the pull tab on the heel is too weak to be useful. Mine was torn apart at the first time I attempted to wear the shoe, which happened even before I mounted cleats on it. I'd recommend the shoe, but with the caveat of not using the pull tab. I wish the pull tab can be strengthened with tougher materials, or just be removed completely to save even more grams!
