Specialized is a bicycle company, they make gear and apparel for riding bicycles. However, this jacket is worthless for riding in. It does not breathe in the slightest and traps moisture to the point that water will actually drip down on the INSIDE of the jacket. It’s kind of amazing the marketing calls out “beat in class” for breathability. After riding 100+ miles I can confidently say this is one of the worst jackets I have worn in regards to breathability. It actually makes you cold since the sweat can’t go anywhere and stays against your skin or base layer. I have $15 Target jackets that have the same breathability (ie Zero). Good fitting jacket but don’t plan on moving in it.
great for wind, better be a cold wind, you will sweat. hoping for a little better rain protection, as it is so packable. best to keep light rain exposure to maybe 30 minutes. it's just that it's so convenient to carry and has a hood. my RBX rain jacket is not so packable and more cumbersome to carry, but when it rains, it works, wet head though. getting a shower cap.
Great fit, lightweight, and easy to store!
This article appears to be very well made, and I have no doubt it would do its job as intended. Unfortunately it runs very small, I am not a small person and this fits me like a straight jackets so I will have to return it without actually judging its performance. Order larger than normal if you have any girth to you.
I mostly use for a packable rain jacket, stuff it in a 1 liter bag stuck in a top tube water bottle cage on the roubaix or the swat box on the recently retired diverge. Why mostly for rain? For me, anything above 50 degrees with an RBX thermal long sleeve and a light base layer, I'm sweating too much. It does work great for me at lower temps as a wind gilet, but mostly used for rain. Definitely, for me, a very useful accessory.
This thing work great. Kept me warmer on a night ride
Awesome jacket. Tested on my last ride. Weather was changing drastically for the whole time of ride. Jacket kept me warm at 55-60 and was not hot once it was close to 70. Wind protection is great. I finally was not worried about constant gusts. Ventilation is decent. I’d say great enough. I like it and hope it will serve me well for a long time. And it so lightweight and always with me inside my backpack
I’m really satisfied with the jacket. It packs down an will easily fit in a small fanny pack. It looks great. Runs small so order a size larger.
Great wind breaker, packs small.
This jacket is super light but blocks wind very well. It’s a little snug fitting, so not sure if there’s enough room for elbow pads. I can wear two layers under it comfortably, though. I do find the hood to be kind of annoying. It flaps around a bit when riding, and I’m not sure when I would need to wear it. I guess if a surprise rain storm pops up it would be handy. Not sure how it’s going to hold up to branches with its light weight, but I thought I’d risk it for $64.
Jacket fits good and provides enough room for layering. I’m 5’7 155lbs and purchased a medium. I like the hood it works great under my helmet on cooler days. This being a windbreaker the material is very thin I would have liked the jacket to have been reinforced in areas of high abrasion. Possibly even use thicker material overall to hold up in continuous off road trail riding.
Good jacket, just run a little small for my liking. Might because it’s not a full zipper jacket.
I like the weight and breathability of this jacket and how small it can be packed up. The only issue is that is pretty form fitting. I am a pretty skinny guy and even still I can't fit a lot more than a long sleeve t-shirt underneath and the sleeves are just barely wide enough to fit over my elbow pads. I was hoping for something I could layer under a little more.
Good wind jacket. Highly recommended.
