Consider Vado your high-performance transportation bike, getting you where you’re going with an unmatched combination of speed, reliability, and confidence. Whether you load it up with your stuff, or jump on and go, commute to work, or ride to the gym, Vado’s full power and huge range will get you from ‘point A’ to ‘point B’ ASAP.

The Specialized Vado has everything you need for e-powered transport. It brings a balanced nature to the way it handles and superior levels of comfort. This is a true class leader of its type.

TURBO: The heart of the Vado is its Turbo technology, an advanced and integrated electric bike system that delivers an unequaled combination of power, natural feel, anti-theft functions, training tips, and a full-function bike computer.

POWERFUL: It’s you, just faster — it’s 4x You. The Turbo Full Power system senses the force you apply to the pedals and naturally quadruples it for an experience that makes getting up any hill or to any destination no sweat. Literally.

COMFORTABLE AND CONFIDENT: Body position and handling are optimized to deliver unsurpassed riding comfort, confidence, and control. Powerful hydraulic disc brakes reign in your speed, while larger tires provide maximum traction for turning and stopping.

SMOOTH: Stay comfortable in the saddle with an 80mm front suspension fork, higher volume tires, and a plush suspension seat post that smooths harsh bumps from points A to B.

SECURE: Vado has anti-theft lock built right into the bike. Prevent would-be bike thieves by disabling the motor with a press of a button so no one can turn on the motor without your phone connected to the Specialized app or your personalized pin. The Vado’s battery locks in the bike or can be easily taken with you. And if anyone tries to move your bike an alarm will sound. Beat it, thieves.

The speed limit at which the motor will stop supporting may vary significantly by region and is based on local requirements. It may also affect range: a higher speed limit may result in less range.

  • Turbo Full Power 2.2 motor and 710Wh battery offer an unparalleled riding experience, providing a smooth, seamless, and shockingly quiet amplification of your efforts, up to 28 mph. The integrated controller responds to your pedal inputs resulting in intuitive amplification of your efforts with an incredibly natural feel.

  • MasterMind and Specialized app - The MasterMind display reveals all relevant info about your ride and allows real-time tuning of support levels. MasterMind seamlessly integrates with the Specialized app for range optimization tools, advanced tuning, on-ride diagnostics, and more.

  • The enviolo AUTOMATiQ Internal Gear Hub (IGH) stepless shifting technology automatically shifts gears based on a rider’s pedal pace, taking changes in the surroundings into account. By selecting a preferred cadence or pedal pace, it allows riders to “set it and forget it”, adding an extra layer of safety and comfort for riders.

  • Proven Smooth Efficiency - We designed a custom testing mechanism to analyze bumps at even the smallest frequency to increase comfort and vision. That precision, paired with a suspended seatpost, higher volume tires, and an 80 mm suspension fork, will flatten roads before your eyes.

  • Turbo System Lock - Use the Specialized app to disable your bike’s motor and activate the motion sensor alarm. Once locked, the motor cannot be enabled again except by the owner.

  • Garmin Radar - An integrated Garmin Radar sensor lets you know when traffic is coming up behind you. Garmin’s Radar technology can detect cars up to 140 meters away. MasterMind will give riders a visual, audible, and haptic alert of an approaching vehicle’s relative distance and rate of speed.

  • Fully Integrated Removable and Lockable Downtube Battery - Easy to charge, easy to secure.

  • Equipped with DRYTECH Fenders, LED front and rear lights, and 27kg capacity rear HD Rack. The rear rack is compatible with child bike seats, and the bike is also rated to pull a thru-axle trailer.

  • Long-Range - With a ride-anywhere range, go up to 62 miles (100 km) or 4.5 hours on a single charge (eco mode).

Can't control pedaling on steep inclines and declines

When you calibrate it, the selected constant pedal speed will not work going up steep hills. You can work your legs as hard as you can, and the bike barely moves. There is no practical way you can go into Settings and work through the Menu selections to find a way to adjust for the steep hill while the bike is barely remaining upright with the lack of achievable speed. Turbo mode is inoperable. Every time I select it, the pedals become extremely hard, of not completely impossible (not exaggerating here), to turn. The Owner's Manual only makes a few vague references to go to Settings. Need more explanation. Pee poor.

Cool $4K toy. Need a reliable bike? Look elsewhere!

Purchased a Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH 2022 when it was on sale. Bike ran fine for 250km and now turns off randomly when the bike is at a certain angle. Sometimes after turning off it will turn back on when pressing the power button, sometimes not and then never again until the bike is tilted at another angle; I'm stuck where I am until I can get this bike to work again. Authorized Specialized dealer is a ferry trip and 20 miles away according to their map. If this were something I depended on, I'd be furious that this bike hit a problem early. I paid premium money for, among other expected qualities, a dependable bicycle. My advice: get a regular bicycle for 1/10th the price (maybe not a Specialized or Cannondale if the quality of this bike model is any indication of quality) or if you're set on getting an eBike, try rolling the dice with another vendor.

75 and riding again

For the past 3-4 years I'd limited my cycling to an indoor trainer. A regular jogger and cyclist since I was 30, a diagnosis of A-fib and noticeably reduced cardio capacity really played havoc with my confidence and self-image. In May I bought a Como with IGH and, cautiously, started riding outdoors again. I reasoned that the step through frame and upright riding position should compensate for my occasional shaky balance. Years of annoyance with greasy chains and fussy derailleurs were replaced by belt drive and Enviolo IGH. The uncertainty of riding our less-than-perfect roads almost disappeared on the Como's 2.3" tires. But the biggest surprise was Como's Garmin radar! It's not just a gimmick, it really works. Since May 19 I've logged 650 miles and I'm loving it. What a great product!

'I Now Fear No Hill', 'Go Big or Go Home'. 'This is the last bike that I'll ever buy'

I am 66 years old, and have about 200 miles on it so far. The smooth automatic shifting is better than promised. you are never in the wrong gear. I set the cadence to suit my more casual (slower) style of riding. On my regular bike, my legs could not take me up the hills, now 'I Fear No Hill'. The surprising gem I found is the Garmin Radar. It works as good as the warning lights on my car's side mirrors, I only need a quick glance before I turn. I love it, and trust it. The bike is 'Solid'. It has everything a bike should have. The front (Bright White) and rear (red) light is a great safety measure that I like. When I bought my IGH, I wanted a frame like my old bikes years ago, now, I can see if 'God willing' I am still riding in my late 70's and 80's and beyond, maybe the step-through model would have been a better choice. I am convinced that you will never see anyone riding a Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH with a frown on their face. PS. I just convinced my wife to pick up a Turbo Como 5.0 IGH.

Great bike

I’ve had it about a year and have gone over 2000 miles. No issues whatsoever. Love the bike. It’s pricey but worth it.

A great Bike that I can totally see being my Forever bike.

I have had my Vado for a little over a month now. I am somewhat new to bike riding, having been an avid mountain bicycler many years ago, so please understand how that might color my judgment. The Vado is outstanding for someone who lives in a city environment, with occasional trails, and lots of hills. I think the Belt drive is fantastic, the Enviolo IGH is awesome as well. Totally silent, the belt is clean, and all is perfect as far as I can tell so far. I love the power when I need it, and the auto shifting takes some getting used to, but once you have it, its pretty liberating. Another reviewer said you have to get used to pedelling fast, but that is actually adjustable. All in all, its is a great bike. Comfortable, fast, and very stable. It just feels like it was made for me.

Buckle Up for a Wild Ride with the Specialized Vado, not for the faint of heart

For adrenaline junkies, the feisty Specialized Vado 5 offers a rollercoaster of emotions. Our whirlwind romance since 2019 has been full of adventure and mechanical mischief. Before hopping on this stubborn steed, beware: the Vado 5 keeps things spicy. The belt seems eager for early retirement, challenging me and my local bike shop. Years together turned me into a motor maintenance virtuoso, tackling 1000-mile chainset replacements. Our lounge, now a bike workshop sanctuary, is stocked with bits and bobs for taming the Vado. After four years and 5500 miles, my once-proud steed is now a toothless gummy bear, destined for recycling into soda cans, paper clips, or a clown's unicycle. When quoted $2000 for a new engine and $1000 for a battery, I chuckle at the astronomical costs. That's over $2 per mile! Their slogan, "your vehicle for life," feels like a comical game of "Wheel of Fortune" with costs demanding an arm, a leg, and my firstborn.

Awesome but takes getting use to.

Great bike to ride. Comfortable and makes long rides easy. I just needed to get accustomed to the auto Enviolo! Always used derailleur bikes and constant cadence took getting use to. If you like to cruise at lower pedaling speed then the automatic may not be your best choice. But after getting use to it the rides are fantastic!

A Commuter/Cargo/Fitness Bike for the 21st Century

The Vado 5.0 rides like a heavy gravel bike on a Lance Armstrong's pre-workout shake. The wider 650Bx2.3 tires have better cushion for groceries and provide a planted, stable support over light improved footpaths. the only thing better the Rockshox suspension which provides air, rebound and preload adjustment, is the drive train. I am not a light person at 6' 2'' 235lbs. This bike doesn't even notice I'm on it. I can't feel it shift, only here it, but it perfect. 90Nm of torque provide gobs of power. When the bike is unloaded I switch mode to micro adjust and I have a fully manual 9spd cassette gravel bike. The mode are adjustable easily hits 28mph in sport, turbo or micro. If I don't feel like shifting I leave it in Eco or sport and let the IGH do all the work. My One complaint is not the bike, it's app. On receipt of the bike, it showed a belt tension errors over the mission control app. Specialized determined it a non-issues. After the last app update it has resolved.

Wonderful ride

I am riding my Vado 5 IGH to work regularly with lots of hills. Wonderful in every way: rear rack holds my briefcase, smooth auto shifting, safety radar, lights when I ride home in the dark, long battery life, and comfortable ride. Only downside is that the bike is heavy, but you can buy a lighter bike if you don't need the range. Very happy with my purchase.

Best commute bike you can buy

I own several non E-Bikes. I have also owned several Ebikes as well. My most recent was a competitors top of the line ebike and it was horrible. Specialized lives to innovate and this bike shows they are the top of the game. The most comfortable best riding Ebikes I have ever owned. Solid motor, built in radar for safety, built in lights, rack just the complete bike. Everything works flawless. This is my first belt drive bike and autoshift. My commute is truly enjoyable, silent, no worries about shifting just ride. Easy to take off from lights, no shifting, just smoothness all around. If you are on the fence, just get the bike. It doesn't get any better then this.
